* Boredom warning * - technically you only need 35 years if your first NI credit was after 2016. If it was before that then there is a transitional calculation that reflects your record and the nature of your contribution before 2016 (eg contracted out of various flavours).
If you are worried, then go onto the pensions forum and find a thread about state pension and there will be some links to getting a forecast. This has two elements - basically the most you can get, and then a few lines under that is what you get if you didn't make any more contributions. Again if in doubt ask on the pensions forum - these queries get some pretty expert analysis, just help them by posting all the figures if you get a forecast. The benefits board might help with the NI credits / CB question - but the age of 12 does ring a bellI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

As mark55man says! Also do not believe what you read in the newspapers, they seem to have totally forgotten how to fact check an article. The pensions forum on here is much more reliable. They will also point you in the direction of the actual facts, rather than what they would like the facts to be.

Ha ha! I see your *boredom warning* and raise you, as I was on the .g0v.u.k site checking my NI contribution history
We know how to live on a Thursday not-even-a-school night eh? So I cannot receive more than £170 (odd) a week state pension and I need another 21 years NI contributions.
In other news, I have discovered the wonderous invention called the Velux Cabrio Balcony Window System, and I am in love.It is a pop up/push out balcony! How lush is that for a thing.... drool.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

If I make contributions for another 8 years then £179.60 is my pension forecast. In 21 years I can claim it (aged 68) Currently it is £142.44.For all its faults, the .g0v.u.k site does the state pension summary forecast thing quite well.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Thank you @f0xh0les - my DS1 lives in the loft with his GF and he likes the idea of a balcony, and DD1 has a loft conversion to accomplish in the next 18 months so very useful

Deffo sounds like that job is for you if you can fit it in with your other commitments.
On the subject of those balconies, a holiday place we stayed at had one of those fitted - most pleasing and time was passed very satisfactorily popping out the balcony 😁4
