At least he is one step better than Winston Churchill who at the end of the war sent numerous Poles & White Russians, after fighting with us, back to the USSR, knowingly to their deaths!   Have you seen the film of some of them jumping ship, again knowingly to their deaths, knowing that being crushed between ship & dock would be a better death than they would have in Russia?  Look how they lauded him!

I think a lot of Phillip's "stuff" was done out of sheer boredom, although the slitty eye thing was well OTT.

The press are horrible. They were horrible to Diana pretty much as soon as the wedding was over, hounded her to her death and then practically canonised her. They were horrible to Kate when she and William took their time to get engaged and married (it's a hell of a big decision to marry into that family, and Diana's example must have been a big influence on both of them, and probably the advice Kate was getting from her friends). They adored Meghan to begin with and were then horrible to her and kept comparing her unfavourably to Kate. They're the same with other celebrities. It's a pity they can't concentrate on important stories... 

The one thing enjoy about doing my tax return (I know its an odd way to put it) is knowing that it'll b*lls up HMRC's calculations about who owes money to whom...

I heard the news break on the radio yesterday,  was a bit perplexed when the reporter announced 'we will continue to bring you updates as the situation develops' 
I thought being dead was a pretty finite situation (unless you're Jesus, and that was last week) 🤷‍♀️

It is mawkish and macabre.   I think they are just treating it as a dress rehearsal for when Liz pops off.  Then it will be proper mental - I remember for Diana, every single channel  either had a portrait of her and sombre music, or a live feed of people laying flowers - they did not have anything in reserve for that unexpected event!  They have not been caught on the hop with Old Phil.

Still, 99 years old, died at home with his family around him (ish), he did pretty well.  

But it is not newsworthy when Brexit is causingreal problems in Northern Ireland, and Parliament  and the House of Lords gets shut down for a week, while some people find out on Monday if the jobs they thought they had still exist when non-essential shops reopen.

Are we not a little beyond the deference to the Aristocracy at this level in 2021?  Oops, my republican slip is showing

But they are very good for tourism & we get the largest cut from the crown lands.  So politics aside we are actually better off with them than without them.

I am with you on the whole PP situation being OTT, they cancelled garden’s world !!!!!! and commercial radio wasn’t allowed to play any jolly tunes yesterday. Totally crazy and excessive response to a sad event for his family but the blanket media coverage is nuts.

Radio X has been playing Pink Floyd,  Embrace and Coldplay- proper cheery choons (not)

I was hoping to read the news earlier, evidently, nothing has happened in the world recently except Philip dying and it is not like it was unexpected.

They do have some very nice real estate to visit  I must say - but I think the tourists  still come whether they are in residence or not.

Apparently there were so many complaints to the BBC for cancelling all coverage and BBC 1 and 2 just showing the same thing, they had to set up a new complaint form!
