Honestly I would be glad to hear less about the 'troubles' in NI, my family in England are all concerned when actually we've not witnessed any of it over here. I'd hate to be a police officer right now but it's all bored little s***s with too much free time. The parents should be sorting them out when actually they're probably cheering them on from the side. We need things to start opening here to give people something else to do, but that would require Stormont coming back from their Easter break early 🙄Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

I had bought car insurance through a price comparison website, via a cashback site (still with me?) and it had tracked (minor miracle) but had not paid out, which was annoying, so I thought I would raise a ticket on spec, to see what would happen, and they have paid me out of their own money instead of waiting for the retailer to pay out. Hooray! £70 BACS transfer to my account.Still waiting for p/a to pay out - just over £10 in there now.The house has been cleaned and hoovered (from the top floor to the kitchen door) the pantry has been organised, bathroom and loo floors mopped, three loads of washing laundered and mostly dried on the line - then it started Snailing (snow and hail) so it is finishing off in the dryer. Since 9am the top floor windows have been open as it was so warm, since 2pm they are closed and the heating is on! Freezing!Lunch was a chickpea and potato curry with yellow rice and home made chapatis (all Dr F's work), pudding was the celery crumble, made by moi yesterday morning, with cream. Lunch tomorrow will be the rest of the curry and riceF has also made a side of seitan bacon, and supper tomorrow will be BLTsShaved the sides of DS3 and DS4s heads this afternoon, and then sent them off for baths so they are' slightly' tidier and cleaner ready for school tomorrow. Poor DS4 has PE 4 days next week, but at least he can go in wearing his tracksuit. DS4 cannot find his phone, and is hoping it is in his locker. All yesterday's laundry was folded and returned to owners, just today's to complete, and I will attack the sock box of doom while watching the football later on. The kettle is descaling, the coffee machine will be done after the football,Dropped the kids regular saver s/o from £100 a month to £10 for this year - I can use the money better in the renovations fund. Dr F is making quite a lot of noise about buying an electric car / hybrid as he thinks his car is on the way out (16.5 year old diesel 7 seater). We hardly ever go anywhere all together - Ireland is about it, and most of the time he bails on me anyway - so I am unconvinced we need the expense right now, but he has noticed he is able to save quite a bit at the moment (no trips to the coffee shop every day and lunch out at the local hipster bakery or the (charity) converted milk float in the park) and it is like the money is burning a hole in his pocket. So I am taking the money I usually recycle for the kids, and will pay them £40 each for the use of their money in my bank account, instead of being trapped in the bank's account until next April. I am only kidding myself it is their money anyway, I have told them they will all get £1800 for their 18th birthday from me, and all the money in their account is from me anyway.I just don't want to be locking any away at the moment, so they can do without for a year. The needs of the house are greater at the minute.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Just wondering if you are going to do the loft boarding yourself. You are more than capable & with a half decent loft ladder & 4 DSs to help lift up the boards it should be a quick win!

I hope DS4 enjoyed the celery crumble as much as he's going to enjoy the rhubarb soup.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

W..e...l...l, I was phoned by one of DS1s teachers before lunchtime as he he had not given in something he should have. Grrrr!Don't worry I won't shout at him or anything - she said. But if he doesn't do it, he is going to fail. That's ok, I will be shouting at him when he gets home!! - I said. It is important enough to warrant a shouting at.It is like he is deliberately sabotaging his own work. If he doesn't do it and fails, then he can think he would have passed if he had done it. He does not want to grow up. He does not want to take responsibility for anything. He is a lazy so and so.He is in a foul mood today for having been called out for it. So, not exactly sunshine and unicorns, I'm afraid to say.DS4 found his phone at school in his locker. DS3 was knackered after PE and stroppy. Normal service has resumedI fear they think they are going to be living with me when they are 40 !They have no outside interests, and they have very few inside interests. They have been to see careers guidance, but are told to come back when they have an idea of what they want to do.So, first day back was total carp, and I want to scream.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Teenage boys are great (not) the way they always make it your fault when they don't do something or get it wrong. Have you ever considered withdrawing your food supply services until they start to behave better?Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

Mine have no outside interests either - which drives DH bonkers. I think that's just the way it is for most nowadays- unless they are into football! @f0xh0les perhaps on your next house move you could 'accidentally' forget the older two and not leave a forwarding address, rinse and repeat when the younger two are a bit older. That way you won't have them living with you when they're 40 still
