Today may be my last dealing with the tax credit muppet peoples!! It appears I am now entitled to not be entitled to anything, but they will be writing to inform me of my entitlement of zero for the next 12 months, at some point in .. the... future. 

I only found out because they did not pay me my £7 child tax today, so I went onto their ridiculous chat system and got an uppity muppet who did not like my tone - now there was I, thinking typing a question was asking for clarification that I do not owe them any money for the last twelvemonth, but apparently I am merely interrupting their pre-written answers that did not answer the question I was asking, so I had to ask again, and they could not understand why I was even asking the question - like they have not demanded money  from me before!!

Ho Hum!  Obviously somebody did not want to be working on a Friday afternoon and was a tad on the irritable side.  Maybe they just need more fibre in their diet - I only thought that, I did not type a suggestion. That would be a little familiar I thought.

I am also aware that the odd day that random and obscure payments from the Tax Muppets is only 3 weeks away.  I know DH did not earn as much as we estimated, that the Tax Credits were based on, due to the strike payments coming out, but they say we owe nothing, we will receive nothing, and we are entitled to nothing.  DH received a text last week from HMCR to say he was owed money due to increased child tax credit payments during the pandemic.  Watch this space ____________________

I cannot help but feel relieved I will not ever have to deal with them again.

How will we cope without our £7 a week!  Never mind, I will pay for the Water4id and Orangutan sanctuary dd's myself from now on.

Every year ours was overpaid even though up to date figures were handed in.  I'm currently on universal credits and they do it month by month on what i have earnt,  so no guessing and therefore (i hope) no overpayments.

Every year ours was underpaid -including the year they decided to pay me an extra £4k over 3 days in abut 11 installments -  honestly, every time I logged in to my bank account, there was another payment,  because the sun was in Uranus or something. 

Anyway, hopefully this will be the last time I will have to deal with them, and their ridiculous system, as I will no longer be eligible to receive their bounty.   BLISS!!

It also means that I cannot use the £7 a week as a reason not to get a job. I mean they have made it worth my while to go job hunting now.

 I choose to stop applying for tax credits many moons ago, I only qualified for a measly amount and the stress it caused me trying to work out their calculations, that seemed to change every other week, just wasn't worth it to me.

You did well to not mention the fibre 🙂

I always kept them updated but they always seemed to overpay me and demand it back. I hated them - they were the only finance type people I've ever dealt with who made me cry - not in a good way. I can analyse muti million pound turnover sets of company accounts but dealing with the tax credits people and the info they wanted used to terrify me!! So glad that 2 kids are now adults and  DH now earns too much for them to be in my life any more.

It was when  I asked if they had used DHs current P60  from the tax  office for 2020/1  with all reductions due to strike pay,  and the response I got was:

I do not understand why you are asking me about Taxes.

You have received all the payments you are entitled to, and in  2021/22 your entitlement will be zero.

At that point it all just became ridiculous. Why would a person working for the Tax Credit office need to know about tax and P60s and.....?

Anyways, got up late this morning 6.45, stewed the rhubarb and  baked one crumble and one sponge, washed down the dining table, cleaned the loos,  did 3 loads of washing, put it all on the line, walked down to Herr Ron and picked up a bit more lunchbox tat, and some d/f 0ykos greek style yoghurt that everyone loves (2 for £1) and 3 pr1ngles tortilla chips tubes fell into my basket (3 for £1 for the large pots!) and some 50p Jus R0ll pastry (easy lunchbox pasties with small leftovers of either stew, or chilli, or bolognase sauce)  the pr0lific academ1c payment that is due will cover all spends from that, plus it is an extra 4km on the step count.

I was back home before 10, so I am sat on my bum on the sofa with a cuppa and am hiding from the fetishisation of Prince Philip with 5 hours of Battlestar Galactica on H0rr0r.   Honestly, they cannot demonise him as a racist, a bully, and a tyrant while he is alive, and as soon as he is dead, praise him for his charity work, his sportmanship, and the great love affair with a 13 year old who unexpectedly became  Queen.   Except they do seem to be able to.  Tug forelock, bow humbly, back away from the Aristos.

Now I am wondering who is next?  They do tend to fall off the perch in a huddle don't they - I mean there were only 4 days between Alan Rickman and David Bowie.
