DS1 has only gone and got an unconditional offer! so that makes 3 offers and one rejection so far, the other 2 places want B's. One has not yet responded. There are lessons scheduled over Easter for him and DS2 to further enhance their learning. It is needed! So I guess he is leaving home this autumn. How very exciting!DS3 is going to be delighted at the prospect of moving to a bigger bedroom.
However they are really going to miss biggest brother being around the place. They just don't realise it yet. In that annoying little brother / big brother way.
I think it will make Xmas better this year. More to look forward to, having him home again. Get me! I already have him moved out and am looking forward to him coming back. The rotten swine only went and texted his DAD about his offers, not me. Male solidarity in theory and practice.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Mech engineering @greent - will find out if it is the one with the foundation year or not when I go pick him up.The plan is to open up one of the unused roof spaces to make a room large enough to be able to stand up in along the wall, with a sloped roof + dormer window, and a proper staircase, but just about big enough for a double bed. It will be more of an occasional bedroom, which probably means DS3 will claim it for his own rather than having DS1s room - you know how they are! Anyway, the kids regular savers pay out again next week, so I really do need to be thinking about an architect / builder who knows what he is doing. One of the ladies I volunteer with has recommended a local chap who did her extension, in very glowing terms. The fear of mucking it up though - or getting a cowboy in - I blame Nick Knowles.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Oooh, I am so cross.I keep seeing boxes of food offered up on the local free sites that I have packed at the f/b. The cheeky swines who have bothered to request a voucher, show proof of income or benefits, or have cried down the phone and claimed desperation, then they have taken the milk and fruit juice and box of cereal out, and are giving the rest away as a humanitarian act for 'some poor soul in real need'. They phrase their posts like they have gone out and bought food and are trying to help out people worse off than themselves, just in return for being told what an angel they are, and what a good person they are to be thinking of others. It is getting to be nearly every day now, and that is just on the sites that I see. It is so demotivating to know that our pensioners are giving up their time, and lugging boxes about the place, and are being taken for mugs by chancers who are too good to eat tinned soup or baked beans. Fine swap something or give something to a friend or neighbour, but going on social media pretending they have put together a care package when they have lied to get it, is just plain wrong. It is stealing from a charity. But they are still requesting those vouchers and telling tales of not being able to feed themselves. It just seems to be getting worse. Still, if the dozy muppets are daft enough to put their postcodes on their posts for collection, at least they are traceable. Rant over. Sorry!House sparkly clean and tidy, ran this morning, lots of raw fruit and veg, soup made, laundry done, watched another Wallander, DH's mood is very low, it is very stressful and utterly tiring - he is in a lot of pain. I am trying the 'food as medicine' approach (insert lemon
) lots of fresh stuff, everything made in-house....but it does not seem to be working, at least I know he is eating well.
The news that we will probably not even be offered the vaccine until May has hit him hard, it means second jab in August at the earliest, which scuppers taking the kids to inlaws, or having them here, or going anywhere this Summer. But just in time for face-to-face teaching - if they are not on strike again. It is all a bit poo!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I think although there is a lot to do jab-wise, timescales are moving forward a little - so fingers crossed even if its May / August its early. early August + 3 weeks still gives you a window of hope for holidays
You're doing well to keep the focus on food as medicine, in must be lemon-entry to you and your OHI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine7 -
We've had worse, someone trying to sell a food parcel made up of stuff they'd had from the local bank for free. They're now blacklisted. Really foolish as they had their name on the listing.
I can feel for OH, as I'm sure can you and many others, it seems like there is little fun in life at the moment and its all just about work. I get angry as I think the govt has not kept its side of the contract, we're still expected to work and pay taxes which they're staffing up the wall while not solving the problems.

....and bl00dy DS4 seems to have picked up ringworm somewhere! Just noticed at lunchtime -a splodge on his wrist, lots of kids in his class have acquired new furries over lockdown, so I suppose someone has passed it on. Canesten here we come!5 school days left until the holidays. I did not manage to drag myself out of bed and run this morning, as somebody had stolen my spine. Well, that is what it felt like. I was trapped under the duvet until 8.20, which is practically 2 weeks on a sun lounger in Corfu for me.I have a mass of one/two portion left overs in the fridge, and a lot of opposition to eating them from 'that lot', so I made them a huge pasta bake for lunch with garlic bread, and guess what? there is nearly half of that left too. That can go in the oven again with an even cheesier topping, I have a huge portion of stew, two portions of black bean aubergine and rice, 2 portions of Thai BNS soup, and a massive fruit salad made - and when I say ' Leftovers for Supper Anyone?' I get groans. Well they can groan away tonight because I am clearing the fridge so nothing gets wasted. I think I can get away with buying a couple of blocks of tofu and not much else is needed this week.Somebody has helped themselves to the LaraBars in the pantry - 2 are missing, the banana choc chip ones. Have you tried them? They are like n4kd bars, but 5 for £1 in Herr Ron instead of 4 for £2, I have the banana choc chip ones and the apple pie ones, very nice indeed, and the kids say they are a very acceptable lunchbox alternative. Not bad for a load of squished fruit and nuts.Right, off to fold some laundry (yawn!).4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
