I'm the opposite to you - I've only lived in London for the past 19 yrs . But I agree - if it happens here, it is treated as 'important', 'special', 'unique'. And 'S*d the rest of you if it happens to you.'And now B0ris says it'll all be better by Easter... I remember him saying that about cmas...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

I remember the 'Spanish variant' that was prevalent there and in France which was sweeping through the younger people toward the end of summer, when B0ris was claiming kids did not get it. i do wonder if it is that one, but suddenly 'NEW' now it is over here rather than over there.

Ah, yes it is, I only know the English madeleines as madeleines - the sponge turrets coated with jam and coconut - never knew there was another one. Now I have molds for both. Clever you to know exactly what it was from my rubbish description. It is quite heavy, a proper nice quality bit of kit, and all for £1.50.Yay Bill Bailey won Strictly!! Today has gone very well, DS4 delighted with his first phone, his clothes, and his computer game plus a wodge of cash. Happy chappie. I made a coffee and walnut cake that I would have been very happy to get at a cafe. Yay me!The house has all been cleaned and hoovered up to the kitchen door. After that it is bedlam. All the laundry has been washed and dried, but is in laundry baskets in the kitchen awaiting folding and returning to owners.I have only wrapped mine and dh's presents. All the kids' presents are still to do, but I have not been in the mood to be honest. Just wanted the house clean and tidy, and DS4 to have had a nice day, and that I would come home to a tidy house when I come back from f/b tomorrow.Apparently Lufthans4 is flying in fresh produce tonight in a humanitarian effort to let us eat fresh veg. Agents of Federal Europe plotting against us, with their foreign brassicas. Obviously some kind of Merkel attempt to undermine Brex1t with Broccoli.I have not gone mad buying food, in fact I could do with a bag of carrots and some mushrooms, but I am wary about going into the supermarket on the way into work tomorrow morning as it was full of nutters on Monday.I have just inventorized the pantry, and there is plenty of food in there, the freezer has a lattice thing we are having for Xmas lunch, but not much else really. Just a bag of vegemince and a bag of spinach and about a dozen blocks of Fl0ra plant based butter, which makes great pastry, so it stays. Plus I have asked for a butter dish for Xmas so when I find it cheap,( 5 for £1 ) then into the freezer it goes.I am going to do the whole festive shebang on 25t and enjoy it all, and eat the leftovers and the pudding, and the mice pies, and hot chocolate, but after that, it is soups, stews, casseroles, and baked potatoes and salad. I lost 2 stone in 2020, and the other 2 stone is going in 2021. If I could lose 2 stone during a pandemic when I was not allowed to go anywhere or do anything, then I can lose 2 stone in 2021, although I looked to see when I would be offered the vaccine based on age and no underlying health conditions, and it said between 31st July and 31st October, based on a predicted 1 million jabs being performed each and every day, and a take up rate of 72%. So not holding my breath for that one. I mean, we might have heavy rain one day, or (whispers softly ) ...... s n o w.A week tomorrow will be New Year's Eve. I think we will all be glad to see the back of this one. So I am hoping the last week of the year will be contented and relaxed and fun in my house. Although all the counties to the south of us (less than 35 miles) and the East of us (less than 60 miles) just got put on warning they are going into tier 4 from Boxing Day. No doubt we will swiftly follow. No point second guessing, what will be will be, and we just have to do all we can to emerge fit and healthy at the other end. Although DS4s school trip to Norfolk in Feb (3rd time of rescheduling) is not looking good....Anyway, still have not done the car insurances (traditionally I end up doing it on Boxing Day) and I still have not washed my kitchen floor, or decorated my Xmas cakes (they may end up being naked), or made candles in the not-pr1ngles tubes. But I still have tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day. I only have 3 work days left this year. In fact I might just rename my list 'Things to have done by the end of 2020' that way I can keep the whole list for a week and just knock the things off each day. I just need to remember not to add any on
So once again I seem to have a plan, it might not be a cunning plan, but nevertheless, a girl with a plan is not to be trifled with.

Naked cake andan unwashed kitchen floor, eh? It's all oo-er missus in the f0xh0les household...!Glad ds4 has had a good day. Happy birthday to him!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Birthday cake was artfully Jackson Pollock inspired - they always complain there is too much icing, after the 2nd or 3rd slice, so I did half the amount of icing, and drizzle effected it. They do not like an iced Xmas cake either, so I though I could go wild with an apricot jam glaze and walnuts and pecans instead. It just did not happen today, and I am out until 3.30 tomorrow, but we still have a whole '1' left of the '11' cake, so maybe I made Twixtmas Cakes without realising? yes, that must be it. No other cake until the birthday cake is gone, and then there is Xmas pudding that needs eating, and then Twixtmas Cakes.I really thought I would get round to wrapping the presents and washing the floors today, but that got away from me too. I did hoover in there, just did not mop yet. I will not be Cinder-f0xh0les scrubbing the floors on Xmas Eve night. Might get it done before going to work, but then they will just traipse all over it while I am out and leave footprints everywhere then complain when I get home that they got wet feet.
First world problems eh?

Glad DS4 had a good birthday
Not a fan of icing here either - when I make Xmas cake (not this year) I always go for the jam/ nuts/ glacé cherries thing on top - yum 😋
