DS 2 at least has a chart with each of his subjects and the homework for the week, ds1 just got the homework sheet sent to him for the lesson he was not in! No zoom, no online stuff, just the homework. Both of them have absolutely dire reports, because they have not done a test since March and have had a total of 7 weeks back in school -we were still in local lockdown when the rest of the country went back to school in June/July. I don't even know if it is worth my while engaging a tutor, just in case they cancel the final exam like Wales (the land of the future) has done.Today I sent Step-Gran her 2 boxes of treats and her birthday cards. The bouquet should arrive tomorrow while I am at work.Just parceled up Swiss Auntie (s-i-l) 's twiglets and mice pies that I will send tomorrow after work. So after all the postage I should have maybe £6 left in the budget until Monday. The house has food, the freezer is full of bread and butter, the pantry has cereal and oats and all manner of tins and a whole sack of potatoes and onions. Since making overnight oats, the milk situation is much better, only 7 litres in 6 days, unlike the 8 litres every 3 days of recent months, even though DS3 and4 are having banana smoothies every day and dh seems to be hitting the hot chocolate quite hard.DS2 made a perfectly acceptable tomato sauce (garlic was very slightly burnt) with his gnocchi, and he is quite proud of himself, although he was shocked it took half an hour to put a meal on the table. DS1 is booked in to make a curry at the weekend. While they cook, I clean, so the kitchen is at least tidier and the washing up done by the time the food gets on to the table. I also made scones and baked their lunchbox bakes while I was at it. So now I can relax for the rest of the evening. Alone, as dh is gaming online with his friends. Sadly Wednesday night is rubbish for tv. I might go soak in the tub instead.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

At our school anyone missing mocks/ assessments can't do them at home because they want them done under as 'proper' exam conditions as possible in case the data from them is required to use for grades if Summer exams are cancelled - which makes sense, I guessI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £206

They have just this week dropped one of the set texts for DS2 in GCSE English because they have missed so much lesson time, so it is now poetry, Romeo & Juliet and A Christmas Carol. One less thing for him to stress about.

Waiting on covid test result for DS3 who has a dry cough. Came straight home from picking him up from school, straight on the computer and booked him a walk in test for 15 minutes time, so all done and back home by 4.30. He felt rotten last night, and is very grumpy all day today, so will wait and see what the results say. Was plagued with phone calls from the school about where they were, although I rang up and spoke to the many and various ladies in the socially distanced offices, who all took note of names and form groups, but still they kept ringing to tell me my kids had not turned up to school. Did I know? erm, yes, and you have been told too!It is 10pm and the fireworks have just started. OMG money to burn! Happy Diwali I guess. So, in an effort not to look at my phone every 2 minutes, I have made an apple crumble, pineapple and mango overnight oats, a soup for tomorrow lunch, have sawed down 2 parts of 2 divans into 4 decent sized box frames for the planters. Just have to nail the planks to the sides tomorrow and line with plastic sheeting that I just happen to have in the shed, and have done most of the laundry and now it is in a huge pile in the kitchen, dry and waiting to be folded, looking at me accusingly. Silently screaming FOLD ME!! and RETURN ME!!This time tomorrow I will be further ahead than I am now and hopefully we will know if we are once again the plague house. Night night all.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Really hope you are not going to turn out to be a plague house, but with teenagers being as they are I hope you are not holding your breath. With the latest news saying they are the biggest carriers (like we didn't already know that). Put teenagers in a room with no masks what on earth did they expect to happen. As for Romeo & Juliet, why do they keep picking just about the worst Shakespeare play ever. I can however 58 years on still quote Friends Romans countrymen lend me your ears. That seems to get even more relevant with the passing years. Fingers crossed for you/them. Possibly not too bad to isolate a teenager as they seem to be capable of doing that without any adult input. Got to love those slammed bedroom doors that they do finally grow out of. Honestly they do. Mine (aged 39 now) actually volunteers to take the rubbish out. Look out for when they start saving bubble wrap!

Test result back negative, so it must be a 'normal' dry cough and food tasting odd kind of illness.I am going to celebrate by buying some fresh tomatoes and a bag of carrots. We ran out fast. But first, sawing up lumps of wood. I am getting this job off my list today.Big relief that he has not got the virus. Took the test just before 4pm on Thursday, got the results at 6am Saturday. Not too shoddy, but got an email yesterday from the council to say they are going to be doing the 1 hour tests from next week. So at least it will be quicker next time.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Just saw on the local gifting / swap page (it is now raining so I am taking a saw break) that a lady one road away had lined up lots of money plants outside her house and they were free to a good home, so I nipped out and nabbed one that was quite small but had 2 plants in. Potted it up in a pot my peppers had been in, my peppers had good roots, good growth, lots of flowers but no peppers ever came. All style no substance around here I am afraid. So it is potted up and looks amazing! Just waiting for the money to roll in now! I did nearly lock the keys to the backdoor (and the padlocks) inside the shed (muppet!). Moved some more shelf storage into the shed and the last of the leftover plumbing bits. Floor in front of the washing machine is now clear again. Only have the stuff in the downstairs bathroom left to clear, and as there is a double divan base in there, I need to finish the other divan planters first. But I am making progress! There is method to my haphazard efforts, but rain has stopped play.Lunch is soup and hot bread (bread ys from the freezer) with apple crumble and custard. Supper is homemade falafel and wraps and salad. Tomorrow is DS1 making a curry day!! I will bake tomorrow and then I have enough stuff in the freezer to do lunchboxes on Monday because they did not have a packed lunch while isolating on Friday. So I am on top of everything, I think. Famous last words. Steaming through my list of things that need to be done, but dh keeps popping in and saying 'can you stick XX on the shopping list please'. I think I will be shopping this afternoon after all. Boo4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
