Urgh it is horrid outside, cold, wet and windy. Every idiot with a driving license is out, in smoke grey cars, with no lights, and no indicators. They are all speeding. It was horrible. The supermarket was full of people chatting in the aisles with people they had bumped into, and I did not feel safe at all. I was out of the house for less than an hour, and only that long because the roads are full of parked cars and I had to circle the block 3 times before I could even park half way down the road.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I can't actually remember the last time I went in a shop. We've moved to online deliveries since the first lockdown and I've not braved returning to a shop since. I live in idiotville so I think it would be a long time before I feel safe going back.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 - £0.31 (started new mortgage)

Everything was full on Xmasgeddon. Fridge ends full of Turkey crowns, 18 million types of crackers, free shots in the booze aisle, it has begun! Sadly I am not in the mood, and have still not succumbed to a mice pie yet as I am saving myself for December.... no idea why, except for the calorie count, which is enough of a reason why, now that I think of it.

I did buyva vegan roast thing in Aldi (OH is veggie and DM doesn't eat a lot of meat) so I was going to serve it alongside a smaller than usual turkey offering. I did think I'd just get one to try ahead of time but ended up getting two in case i couldn't get one nearer the time. If the test one turns out nasty I'll offer the other one on Freegle.
I must confess i did pick up a box of crackers for cheese, they will go in the stash alongside the xmas choc, twiglets and treeslets I've picked up. I had already also bought xmas Baileys but OH spotted that in the garage and thus has drunk it already 🤦♀️
Oh and i have some sprouts in the freezer too (the place we usually get our dinner from has changed their sprouts this year and I'm no sure about them....i 'treat' us to pre prepped stuff for xmas dinner bar the roasties, I've done it myself from scratch but xmas day i am no longer standing peeling carrots on my own in the kitchen while everyone else gets sloshed)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

If you swap getting sloshed for playing computer games, then that has been my house for too long. It stops now. Maybe I should get sloshed instead. DS 1 made a potato and chickpea curry for lunch this afternoon. They are not helpless, they are lazy. So they have all cooked in the last week.I have nearly finished two planters today, only one small plank panel to add and it would have been two finished, but I kept getting rained on. So I made a chocolate chip shortbread in the shape of a skull during one rain break, and did the washing up and had a cup of tea in the other rain break, by the third rain break I thought 'sod it' and came in and made supper, it was trying to get dark anyway.Spoke to step-gran (she fell again last week, no damage) who is 81 today! As I did not get thanked for her gifts I can only assume they are not there yet, or they have failed to deliver them (she ignores the door bell) and they need to be redelivered. I posted them on Tuesday so they should be there - she might just not have bothered to open them. She loves her flowers though. The local PO was closed the day after I dropped her last parcel in, until further notice, for deep cleaning (eeek!) I hope her parcel went before they shut down!So another weekend over. Why did this one go so quickly? Just had a lovely bath and washed my hair with cheap shampoo and conditioner that smell the same, so I am raspberry flavoured now. Still need to bake the bakes for the lunchboxes tomorrow, and they can choose their own crisps and drinks from the small selection left over from last week in the pantry, because of that I did not need to buy anything today. On NSD9 so far this month.Tomorrow I will drop the kids, shop, go to work, shop, come home and make lunch for 3, finish planter #2, shop, pick up kids, feed 'em, head back to work, ys shop at the Coop, and ys at Mr T's shop, and home for 8pm. Mondays suck, but the food bill is smaller if I buy certain products in certain shops and it is a circuit I do on Mondays when the food budget resets. Hope I do not get called in to work for extra shifts, but if a big delivery comes in, then needs must.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I was just talking about the C word in relation to selection boxes at the f/b. I said I did not want to start giving out C-word stuff until December, and everyone seemed a bit shocked by that, but after a bit of thought, seemed on board with it, but I have just realised that we have a few crates of advent calendars, so we will have to give them out the last week of November, glad we had the conversation now, as it is planned in my head for next week. You know it is going to be December before we know it? I was in Herr A's shopping warehouse this morning, and you could honestly have been confused that you had walked into the S-Man's grotto instead. Everything was C-word. Herr Leedl has all the flashing and glowing lights at very reasonable prices, so I think I might just have to go and take the kids to buy some decorations for their rooms. First Sunday of Advent is 29th November - get me, the only rabidly non-christian at the f/b having to tell them when Advent starts. Funny how the CofE schooling seeps into your bone marrow. I think I will begin decorating on 29th.The conundrum now is whether to do their cloth advent calendars, or just to buy them one each, as they were so flippin' ungrateful last year. I have 14 days to ponder that one.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I would go for the easy option and just buy them a calendar each. Nothing worse than putting effort into something for no appreciation. At least bought ones are sturdy enough to bop them over the head with if there are any signs of ingratitude about those.
I usually put our decs up first weekend of Dec but going to leave it later this year, we don't have kids to entertain and personally i don't see the point in people putting them up early like some have, Christmas isn't going to be normal and i CBA to pretend otherwise (bah humbug)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I do like my twinkley lights kerri and I cannot wait to get them up. They make me smile. I might just start to be feeling a little bit on the fa-la-la-la-la side of town.I had DS2s parents evening by phone tonight. They are worried as he appears tired in class, and zones out. I could not help it, I had to tell the woman (deputy head) that he was absolutely bored out of his mind, and could not see how what he was being taught was in any way shape or form relevant to his life or future (sorry teacher friends!, all the staff there suddenly seem to be newly qualified teachers - alarm bells are ringing!). He is 16 and learning about 1920's American fiscal policy in history. and he is just, like, what????? ok, I'm listening along, but wondering why I have to learn this stuff. Anyway, he seems to be on course for a low B or C right across the board, which is pretty awful in my book, but C's are passes. I do not see how they can put him on a high achiever / gifted and talented register, and then say he will get C's, unless they just do not know what to do with him to engage him in class. Anyway. Education does not end at 16, I have arranged for him to have a talk with the careers team when he is allowed back on Friday, to try and see what direction he wants to go in so he can get a plan. But he just has no idea what he wants to do career-wise. But then neither do I to be honest. No such thing as a job for life anymore anyway.I looked at him today and said ' don't worry darling, the world will always need postmen', which seemed to weird him out a bit.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
