Anything to do with electric switches/ light fittings - your mobile phone is your friend. DH changed some of ours in a few houses - take photo of the wires connected - to show exactly where the wires were, turn off the electricity - swap the switches- check the phone so he could check they had gone back in the right place when he had put them back. Your memory is not your friend, and you never have enough arms / hands. A photo is safe.Today I have got nothing done. Just laundry, washing up, school run and feeding people. I got cold, and ended up under a blanket on the sofa thawing out. DH is paranoid he is coming down with something ever since DS was sent home from school. He is fine. he went to one shop last weekend, apart from that he has not been out for a fortnight, and before that he had not left the house for 5 weeks. So if he has picked up a cold he must be the unluckiest Associate Professor there ever has been.I have not run at all in 6 weeks. Which is terrible. I need to get back to that. I have been waiting for him to get up and come with me, I just need to get up and go. Then he will go out later- that is the way it works. I like to run in the morning, he likes to run in the afternoonI am waiting for payday, which might be Friday if I am lucky, or Saturday, or Sunday (unlikely) or Monday if I am not lucky. I have all the money to pay all the bills, overpay the mortgage, and pay the cc balance and pay for the cooker (£220) and the kids regular savers accounts (£300). Plus the £100 a week budget for November.I am going to be starting November with a lot of nice (ys) things in the fridge, and a well stocked pantry due to my ys bargains of pasta and bread flour. I need to get on with doing things but my motivation is lacking at the minute. One last push in October will get a lot of silly piddly jobs off the list, and then on into November!!!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I did think about taking a photo and then swap and copy but I'm not 100% sure the back of the switches look exactly the same, plus I'm also not entirely convinced that although things in this house work...they are actually correct, its one of those gifts that always keeps giving. New switches arrived today so I'll have a look and see.
Picked up a £1.50 veg box in L!dl today...thought of you when i nabbed it (never sure why they put them after the checkouts though?).
Yes, sounds like you'll be waiting forever if you're relying on DH to be up to run with you. I've rather unplanned had this week off from running but must get back to it.
Have the troops stopped arguing with each other or is that a silly question?Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

It is all quite peaceable at the moment. They forget all about things long before my stress levels return to a stable level. It is probably best to get an electrician in, but watch what he is up to for the next time - ask questions, they like that kind of thing.Liddl put the boxes after the till, so that people pick up what they need first at the 'proper' price, and they think it will stop people like me just going in for the boxes. I do usually go in to pick up a box of cereal or coffee as well, but I try to time it for the time they put the boxes out - having said that, the last ones I saw I left as everything was properly sad in it.I have signed up to the f/b secret santa - now just have to wait to find out who I get to buy for - £5 spend - as we are open on C-word Eve. We are going to enjoy it. Now I just have to come up with some ideas.I have £4.57 left in the budget and two days left of the month. I have all the food we need. Monday is a new month, with a new budget, and all the bills will be paid. Sadly the roofers seem to be water soluble. Not a word from them. No written quote. Nothing. Back to square one.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I'm the same as you @f0xh0les and go straight past the tills to look at the fruit and veg boxes to see if they're worth getting. Picked one up this week which was mainly fruit - loads of apples and tangerines but also leeks (leek & potato soup anyone?), pointy peppers and a couple of other bits but can't remember what now! Took some of the apples and tangerines to DD1 as there were far too many for me and DH to eat. Will probably end up having to make apple pie with some of them!

I don't know if all stores are the same but we usually go shopping around 9-9.30am and there are usually 2 or 3 boxes on the shelf. I'm fairly sure that lots of people don't realise you have to go past the tills to get them!

They dropped the boxes out at 9.00 this morning! I went in to kill some time as I was picking up a penguin shaped ice cube tray from someone on the 'NotWaste' fakebook group (so I can make chocolate penguins as stocking fillers for the kids) and I had 40 minutes between dropping off the kids and p-p-p- picking up my penguins in the neighbouring town (5 minutes drive away). Now I have 8 huge bananas, 6 apples, 10 satsumas, a punnet of blueberries, 6 tomatoes, 2 bunches of spring onions, a head of celery, 2 lettuces (small ones) one single red onion (make it last!), 5 potatoes, one red and one yellow pepper. The stuff in there looked lovely, nothing wrong or sad with any of it. I only took one this time as there was so much in it, and I already have 2 cauliflowers in the fridge and 3 mangoes in the fruitbowl. Can't be greedy! Then went into sainsbobs and found oat milk for 44p ys and £4 box of non-bio laundry powder reduced to under £2.50. I bought some 4riel squidgy pod things that were ys on Wednesday, as I had run out with 48 hours to go of the budget week and I was worried about school uniforms - and do you know they absolutely stink to high heaven. If I put the washing machine on, you can smell them through the kitchen, the dining room, the back room, and into the hall with the doors closed. It is even worse if you put them in the dryer. Flippin 'eck! They smell like you are trying to hide a damp problem in a rented house - in case any of you know that chemically 'hide a smell' air freshener yucky smell they used in the 90s- I think I can taste it. I am not impressed. Not even at ys prices. Not doing that again - hence me jumping on the massive box of laundry powder on clearance, which takes me £2.45 over my budget for the week, but it is worth it to get rid of that smelly thing. I mean not even nappies deserve to be washed in that. It would kill cockroaches. The cooker is being delivered tomorrow (11am-1pm) so I am going to clean the kitchen today in readiness for it arriving then I will only have to clean behind the old cooker when we disconnect it (don't worry DH connected it in the first place so he knows what he is doing) and reconnecting the new one. They wanted £90 for connection! it is literally a 3 minute job. I am determined to remember to take out the oven racks so that I have spares for when I am cooking things like meringues that need very little space but a long time in the oven. Plus they are good if you are building a bbq in the garden as they are designed for high heat.Right, cup of tea and then getting on with it. - DH just came dancing into the room, he had a hot bath this morning, and then rolled around on his roller a bit on the bedroom floor (whatever floats your boat) and something inside his frozen shoulder make a huge popping noise, and he has a bit more movement in it. It is probably quite disgusting, whatever it was that cracked or popped or exploded or whatever, but it has made him a happy old chap for the second time this morning - It is payday and they have finally stopped deducting strike pay for the strike that started last December. So he is £150 a month better off now. Good for him. These things come in threes, so wonder what his third happy event will be today!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Well done on the box haul - ours are never that generous. I think some of the items comes when they are tidying / putting stock out and find bits left from loose bags - or the odd 1 / 2 punnets of stuff either left on shelf from the prev day or in the wrong place where it's easier to just put them in a £1.50 box than relocate them properly. I did also think, a good reason for having them behind the checkouts is so people can't pick them up then 'add' bits to them from the fresh section.
Ohhh, love a good crunchy pop - I have a shoulder that is prone to a trapped nerve or just general knots and there's nothing more satisfying than hearing / feeling something explode inside it. Sorry, TMI? Great news DH has move movement in his shoulder...just in time for fitting the new cooker tomorrow ;-)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
