What is the world coming to ....are children no longer bribable when it comes to matters of snr members of the family and 'don't tell your nan' :rotfl: Any chance you could just not tell the kids and shift them during daytime hours?

Ohhh, I am now wanting an apple segmenter thing though...

I am in the process of putting up 2 floating shelves, me and OH have agreed we shouldn't do DIY together as we have vastly different approaches (me = read instructions / watch you tube / do it properly him = do it as quickly as possible). It was an amicable agreement that is cheaper than divorce :rotfl: However, these shelves have been a learning experience which resulted in filler and paint and thus have taken me the best part of 3 days while I wait for things to dry and faff. You'd be mortified f0xh0les. They will however be very very straight :D

Give the kids apple segments as a snack every time they claim to be hungry. If they complain, tell them that it will continue until the apples disappear...

Not these ones, they are pure polystyrene balls. Luckily it is coming off in quite large bits, not really any dust at all. It is going to be a very boring job, but one which will allow the ceiling above our dining table to be overboarded and skimmed and maybe some sound insulation between the ceiling boards and the bathroom above (!) - see, me and my plans, they never end! I will use the mask though, next time I go up to attack the ceiling. Good call.

My kids are back stabbing blabbermouth turncoats. Knowledge is power.
They are planning on decaf coffee and apple pie for breakfast. I am allowing them. They had apple crumble for pudding tonight, and are planning on the same tomorrow and Saturday breakfast.

House of Swede still sell apple slicers for £1.50, so I got a 50p reduction in the c/s. It is brilliant. :T

    Spent £0 today.

Still need a winter coat. Must get on with that. It is about to get chilly.
Which I am finding ridiculously exciting. Will set the heating to come on in the morning and evening this weekend. It has pretty much been off since the end of April, except the odd +1 hour to appease DH

There is a quite close meetup of a group called waste-notters this weekend, who are set up to keep things out of landfill, then I also have a craft fair, so I actually have some things to look forward to this weekend.

Apart from ping pong and junior parkrun and one kid's eyetest.
Y'know, all the glamourpuss strutting around stuff.

And of course, the clocks going back on Sunday!
Plenty to look forward to, as well as payday on the last day of the month (boo!).

Wrote a lovely post about a lovely day, and the poxy thing has disappeared.
    Boo!

I escaped all morning, and came back just in time for lunch (DH always makes lunch late)

I have now got £75 for Xmas in 'ambient earnings' (surveys and stuff) I had fun yesterday afternoon counting up from all my various sources.
In my head I will go to S&M and buy nice things, get DH tiddly and chase him round the christmas tree, in reality I know it will probably go on kids onesies and dressing gowns. Being a grown up sucks.

I read for the first time in ages last night. Well, I made myself stop at 2am. Was wide awake at 4am, then 6am but forced myself to lie in until half six when I leapt from my bed, got dressed, came downstairs and started folding laundry. One load in each washer and drier now, doing its thing. Swim kits packed for Monday and by the front door.

I have just heard about the helicopter crash last night after the LC match. I did hear a boom during strictly, but put it down to fireworks, was a bit surprised it was just the one. Turns out the owner of LCFC was onboard his 'copter and it crashed.

It is cold here. Sunny and blue skies. Brr.

Yesterday was the first day since 'the beast' where it was uncomfortable to be out without gloves.

Going to try and get DS1 sorted with his volunteering for his D of E requirements today, then an eye test for one kid after the junior parkrun.

Filled up with petrol yesterday, but apart from that spent less than £5. Had a really nice odd manic time at the jumble waste-not meet up thingumyjig.

Still on the hunt for the elusive winter coat.

Need a few sandwich fillers and drinks for tomorrow's lunchboxes.

Keep warm and toasty, sending hugs to anyone who needs one.

DS1 went with me to the c/s and offered himself as a volunteer, so he has filled out his first application form and hopes he will be able to work in the shop after his application has been processed. Another step closer to bronze D of E'dom. He needs 2 references (for a charity shop!!).

DS3 & 4 wimped out of junior parkrun (horrified faces and ' do you know how cold it is going to be??')

DS2 now has a lazy eye as he has not worn his glasses in a year. The swine. He has been telling me he has his glasses in his bag and he uses them in class, but it turns out he has not. So, new prescription, new glasses to be picked up next week.

A new week starts tomorrow. Can't wait for payday (wed), and money shuffling after all the bills to go out (thurs). Thursday is the 1st of November, when I hope to be the owner (?), of a 100k mortgage figure. I love seeing the daily interest rate drop by another 5p each month.

I am going to the dentist tomorrow morning after dropping the kids at school. I have an hour in between the drop and the appt. So I will have a look in a different couple of c/shops for the damned elusive winter coat. I have a short corderoy jacket for use in cold weather, but nothing at all for wet weather.

Got the thermals ready as well, just in case. It will be cold tomorrow and Tues, but gets warmer and wetter toward the end of the week. After that, who knows!

    Money News in November!!

I am £300 short for the overpayments this month. I will try and scratch about and find more to go off once the child benefit comes in, in 10 days.

£809.94 went off the account this morning.

Daily interest dropped 5p again, down to £4.44 a day.
Which is a monthly interest of £137.74

So my mortgage is now a shiny £101,300.00 which is not where I wanted to be, but then I did not budget for after-school clubs for 2 kids for a 9 week term. Plus the blinds probably did not do me much good. Well, they are doing me good, but not when I have had to pay them off the credit card.

No debts on credit cards. All paid off. All bills paid. I have all the food for the weekend and evening meals for next week. Just need some sandwich fillers, cereal and milk and bread. So a very small shopping list which will be filled probably today.

    I have £11 T3sco cl0bcard vouchers
Nearly £5 on the m0rries card points
    £5 on p/academic
£75 on other various sites I have bored you with before ^^ up there.

Found a YS bargain- mulled wine reduced to £1.50 a bottle, labelled vegan.
I bought all 3 bottles. That is the extent of my Christmas food cupboard so far....

Still have not found the 40m of wrapping paper I bought for £1 in January. Must get on with finding that stuff. Then I can start wrapping the books I got off a lady who was moving house. With my kids it is definitely quantity over price.

    Evening meals will include:
Lasagne (mac & cheese for 1 who refuses lasagne)
Veg Pie, stuffing + more veg
    Toad in't 'ole + veg
    Pizza
Spicy Aubergine and peppers Curry with watercress rice (spaghetti and tomato sauce for 2 smalls whose heads are blown off with my crazy hot thai spice mix I am slowly working my way through - it was 7p a box and is marvellous! Besides, they are not a fan of the purple love ballons)
    Chilli and rice
Spinach fatayers, which are lush and the kids will happily eat spinach like this all day long, which is marvellous when it is on special at the end of the day for 11p a bag.
    https://www.simplyleb.com/recipe/spinach-fatayer/

Still scaling the EU apple mountain, so will make a crumble and a sponge and maybe bake a few stuffed ones while the oven is on. Picked up 2 cartons of soy cream in anticipation of this. Plus a carrot cake if I can be !!!!ed. Or not. Depends. Not promising anything, mind.

    My kids.

Sadly they do not agree that a bowl of crumble and custard is a suitable replacement for a cooked meal. They also disagree that crumble it is a cooked meal.

    I am surrounded by fools.

How about apple batter pudding & tell them its instead of toad in the hole? Not sure the recipe is available anywhere now but it's from my 1967 reprint of the Good Housekeeping cookery book. A much needed now falling apart wedding present! You could always serve it with gravy!
