Haha, just googled the statue, brilliant. Do you think it might become a permanent fixture like the cone on the statue in St George Square, Glasgow?

Guarantee that the out laws turn up right when you're having dinner then and bemoan the fact there is none for them...despite the fact had you made any for them they wouldn't have been hungry because they'd already eaten en-route and thus you shouldn't have bothered. Sound likely?

Very likely Kerri, I am damned if I do, and damned if I don't.

MOTH has a cone too, in Wolverhampton's Queen's Square - Man On The Horse, always the place everyone meets up - "where shall we meet?" " by the moth?" "ok".
In a bizarre turn of events, DH did not want me to take the desk to the tip, it took him 20 minutes, but he managed to bodge it so that the legs behave well and DS2 has claimed it for his room (again - he rejected it 12 months ago). So it is back upstairs.

Everything else, the rubble, bed springs, odds of wood, books, duvets, all gone from the house and into the right places for recycling. Our dump is actually very good - in the high 80%s gets recycled usually, although I have been there when they were claiming 93% of all stuff was recycled. So not much goes to landfill when you can recycle most of it into something else.

Another chest of drawers moved from back room (full of DHs craft paint pots)moved to the kitchen and a bit of MDF is spanning the two chests, and the microwave is now at a height that the kids can use it to heat their milk for breakfast and after school snack. 70 seconds does them fine. They are learning independence. Hence the microwave coming down from the top of the fridge freezer, and into a place they can reach now I have shown them how it works and got the idea of NO METAL into their heads.

Knackered and sweating buckets with all this moving stuff around. The place really is looking quite good (up until the kitchen door!) though.

I have moved the other fireplace and surround onto the marble hearth of the f-ugiest pink marble fireplace you ever did see. The gas fire has been disconnected, but I have not yet got around to taking it away and knocking the hole out. But at least 90% of it is now hidden behind the new, old one.

So, on the cards tonight, is ..... cleaning hamster cage (and trying to remember not to refer to the hamster as their great-grandson), cleaning the cooker, putting the new toilet seat on, and folding laundry. I really must get around to bodging some kind of tv in the kitchen.
I would be much more inclined to spend time in there and clean in the evenings if I had something to take my mind off it. The radio just does not work the same.

  • Foxholes I know where you're coming from. I have to say it was a major relief when XH and I separated to know I'd never have to deal with his parents again! (My mum later made a similar comment to me and she's one of those people who really puts effort into getting on with people). It was so stressful I used to feel myself getting more and more anxious as the time of arrival got nearer.

Well done on the epic decluttering! I can't quite see the storage room as living room yet but hope it won't be too far off.
    Choose kind:)

  • My in laws are based in London and have only visited when we have paid for flights plus some type of event as a gift. They are quite well off. We no longer buy those types of presents and it's such a relief. They constantly move the goal posts on everything from food times to church attendance. Also, like your DH, mine was never that engaged or that bothered so I'm now just letting him and them get on with whatever, weird to me, relationship that they want. Happily, my children are from a previous marriage so nothing to do with them.

I too am after a tv for the kitchen and for the same reason. I'm thinking of putting it on my letter to Santa though I'd love to have it in place before that.
