No time for apple-y pud
Ald1 have the dark choc lebkuchen hearts!!
All the DS's are delighted.
One packet demolished.
DS 2 &3 came to fireworks, met a few people from DHs work, plus the neighbour one up from us. Kids happy with sparklers, came back and gave DS3 & 4 a sparkler each, they immediately went out into the garden and oooohed. Wish they had come with us, but there you go. Not cool for 14 and 16 yr olds to be seen with their little brothers. I am still a little chilly though and we have been back for an hour!. Still, for £12 it was good family fun, and the next closest one is at the rugby club (15 mins away) and it is £25 for a family ticket 2 adults +2 kids, but they won't let you have it for 1 adult + 3 kids. So a half price bargain, and we could walk from the house and not take the car.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

:j:j hurrah! It's always disappointing when something you look forward to all year fails to materialise.
I kind of like that chilly feeling after being out to something like a fireworks display - although the last one I went to was prob 20yrs ago (before OH), tried in the early days to get him to go to any...he has no interest. I might try next year to drag him to one...or watch from our window again like I did this year.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Found some vegan cheese the other day that dd actually likes. Made me think of you! Got it from sainz.
And I know someone who, like you, only put 1 sch down for her son. She works there and it's under 5 mins to walk to, so a logical choice.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1 -
Yay to DD and her cheese!!! - like 'normal' cheeses, it is all a matter of personal taste, and some are just disgusting.
DS1 has discovered Tyne Chease, a cashew based cheese which is horrifically expensive and he loves it. Him, a knife, a packet of crackers and his chease.
I made the mistake of buying him a selection box of 12 the flavours, which was just over £20 including postage, and they were barely bigger than a 10p piece. Grr, still, now he knows which flavours he likes so I don't need to waste £8 on a ball of chease he does not like.
Trying really hard not to fall for the tv advertising. Xmas is coming, there are no more festivals to celebrate before 21st, but I am getting tempted to spend my vouchers already!! I must resist!
If I have it in the cupboards, the kids will eat it. or worse, I will eat it and blame it on the kids.
Today I will empty the Christmas Cupboard (up high!)and see if I can find this mythical 40m of wrapping paper I bought for £1. I store our decorations and bits in an old suitcase, so I can only think it must be in there.
Of course it is way at the back, so it is a ladder and a long hook job.
Also taking DS4 to dentist in his school lunch hour (how well did I plan that!!)
Waiting in for a parcel to be redelivered (no doubt in the 40 mins the house will be empty)
And messing about with more apples.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Is there a new Kevin the carrot ad? I think they are better than John Lewis Xmas ads.1

I found the wrapping paper!!!! In the suitcase!! Nearly knocked myself off the ladder - comedy moment, DH saved me (swoon!):rotfl:
Tried to do apple stuff, but rebel that I am, made a carrot cake instead. Which is lovely. Even the kids liked it.
Parcel arrived 2 minutes after I got home from taking DS4 to the orthodontist, he had his brace removed too, so both of them now are able to eat starburst and chewing gum again (boo!)
Anyway, all food from stores, only ys things bought and put straight into freezer.
DS3 has tasked me with finding chocolate coffee creams like were in £land last year. I did buy some rose creams and violet creams from Ald1 at half term for a laugh, but my pervert kids loved them.
I should just feed them old lady soap and be done with it.
And in totally bizarre news, I seem to be so poor this month as I have inadvertently overpaid my credit card so I am £201 in credit. Which sounds awful, but I suppose I can just do the rest of the month on the card. Annoyed that I did it!!! Oh well, I just have to remember to use that card and no other.
Still have all those sodding apples to prep.............4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

This is the mince pies thread, yeah?
Asda 6 mince pies for 97p with Vegan Society logo on the front. Sounds promising.1 -
YAY!!! Arsda and Wait Rose! I shall get to eat pies!
Still not buying until 1st December though.
Might have prepped all these apples by then.......
Going to a lot of 6th form open days in the next 2 weeks. DS1 needs to start looking to see where he wants to go and do his A levels next year.
Will swing past Mr T's at YS time on the way home - going to ramp up the veg intake even more. Stews are going down well, will start the soups when they are least expecting it..... DH is a soup for supper sabateur.
Must remember I have a MOT in December for my car, and 2 x car insurances to do at the start of January - at least DH can pay for his this year, I was so surprised he gave me the money for it last year. Finally he is becoming a financial grown up (ish).
Just rescued the laundry off the washing line, it was nearly dry but it is chucking it down now. Oh well, 90% free drying. 10% in the dryer.
Kitchen needs cleaning from last night's pizza making explosion.- urgh
Off to do stuff....4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Where has the weekend gone?
DS4 had his eye test, does not need glasses (yay!), used up some apples in some ys puff and made two lovely strudel. Less than 50p. Even better than shop bought, if I say so myself!
DH made the spinach fatayers yesterday, the recipe makes loads be warned! It was lovely though. One child decided he suddenly does not like spinach fatayers. Oh well, he can have spicy potato ones next time.
Just laid around the place, reading books and having baths and chillin' out with the football. (whilst baking, cooking for 6, doing all the laundry and menu planning entering competitions, and herding kids)
Nothing much to report.
Step-Gran has had the heart monitor and it has proven she has a heart problem, which she is now adamant she knew nothing about. It was utterly obvious!!
She is having palpitations 40% of the time. So now she is petrified she is going to 'take a stroke' or a heart attack if she does anything even slightly strenuous.
I told her she is no more danger of it today, than she was yesterday, or last month, or for the last 3 months since she has been in the hospital. She just knows about it. So now it is the Dr's fault, they should not have told her, she seems to think she did not need to know, they should have just told her she needed to go on to a new tablet.
She is 79 on Thursday, so I have got 5 cards from me & the kids, and will try and find something I think she will not either a) give away, b) throw away, c) stick in a cupboard and forget.
Nearly all her friends have either died or have no idea what day it is or where they are. So she is very isolated, which is actually understandable as she is not a very nice person anyway. So there will be no party, her sister lives abroad and her brother in England (and he is showing signs of dementia). None of them had kids. Sad story really, on this rainy Sunday afternoon.
Toad in't 'ole for tea again, quick and easy, and more importantly, nobody complains. Plenty of veg and lashings of gravy. Then the second of the strudel,
2 x baths and I have just remembered DS1 & 2 have a day off tomorrow due to teacher training. So that will be easy tomorrow morning. I can leave 20 mins later, and won't have to wait for the biggun's to get in the car. Fabulous!!
My night just got easier!!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
