What have us regular users done to upset you and to deserve this lack of respect? You may be a SuperGeek but I'm not!
You are not infallible, Martin. You have got this badly wrong. Why not just put your hands up to it, do the decent thing and put it right?
I'm really sorry and i know i'll get leapt on for saying this but isn't that just a little bit excessive regarding what was i'm sure intended as a light hearted name change. Do you really think martin or mse towers intended for this to get so out of hand?
I said that it was mad to change the names as people may be offended, but making the poor guy sound like the equivalent of a raving fraudster i can understand his frustration!
I'm sure MSE intended the name changes to be light hearted and didn't realise it would be taken badly, they have rectified the situation and hopefully thats the end of it, but lets put this in the real world, it's a user name, it's not as if martin gave a money saving tip and lost people thousands now is it. now that WOULD be bad![/quote]
agreed - some people round these parts need to go look up the phrase "Sense of Perspective":rolleyes:Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -

A change is as good as a rest! I like the idea of new names and think it wouldn't be a bad idea to do it regularly - maybe every year :T1% challenge - £4018 - reduce by 100 payments of £41.0

Voting on this doesn't work.
This isn't a majority rule issue. These are fun names on the website.
As can be seen elsewhere, we're trying to start helping the millions with mental health and debt issues - a hidden, underresourced, undermanaged issue that deserves much more attention than it gets.
If 10 people don't use the site or forum and miss the resources because of these fun titles - then it isn't worth it - we should be using different titles - even if everyone else thinks they are fine.
So to those who are saying "i've lost respect with you for this" well then you have poor judgement. We've changed some fun names in a chat forum websites - and stopped upsetting a very tiny number of sensitive fragile people - you know what - I can still sleep at night having done that.
We're trying to get fun names that everyone either likes or doesn't bother with - please focus your energies on that.
This pettiness is beneath what this forum is set uyp for - to help each others take on companies. Those who are making a big issue of this and thinking a call to arms is needed - really need to take a step back!
Martin (annoyed at the insensitivity of some posters).
You may have been annoyed, but plenty of people were annoyed at being called geeks. Nobody was annoyed at the old names, they were scrapped for a bit of political correctness. "Mad" has many meanings, most not associated with mental illness. It is 'being offended by proxy' again.
The old names were fun, the new ones were insulting and appalling. I doubt they were your doing however, probably one of the geeks at MSE Towers;) .Again I say look at the poll.
If you really want to help mental health issues get posters involved in the relevant charities. I'm up for it. That's worth something, silly name changes are not.
By changing them within 24 hours you have clearly realised you were wrong. Is it so hard to admit that, rather than slag off the people who had the temerity to object?

What ?Insulting how? I hate this political correctness B0ll0x for the most part, but let's remind ourselves what this is about: whimsical 'grades' on a web site. It's Martin Lewis's web site and he's a chirpy, kindly bloke who doesn't go out of his way to offend anyone. Why is there so much fussing and flouncing?
Martin's just trying not to offend vulnerable and fragile people - are you really so fragile that a slang term meaning 'knowledgeable, but perhaps a little obsessive' is 'insulting and offensive'. Get over yourself.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Then perhaps you will stop slagging nearly everyone off in future, but especially Muslims, Romany people, foreigners, anyone politically left of Norman Tebbitt, public sector employees, any kind of scientist, mobile phone network engineers, and many more, but worst of all the contempt you openly display for the falsely alleged political correctness of the abuse team.
Ummm, no, I didn't think so.0 -

do you honestly not have anything more to worry about than over reacting over a slight name change? a lot of people here had an opinion, came on here and stated it, exactly the point of this site, for "healthy discussion" State your point yes, overreact and start a tete a tete with the head honcho no. and accusing someone of "slagging off" and the last two lines on your previous post is just that.
Sadly little winks interspersed between the words don't remove the meaning of what you are saying.
