  • On the other hand, it used to say 'don't you have homes to go to?' which is hardly different to 'this site is my home'.

If Martin's working with MIND it may be that the recommendation has come from them.

Really, how many people would have objected if these were the original wordings?

Well the "don't you have homes to go to" is said in a jokey way from a landlord to his punters, whereas "I have no time for the real world" implys just that.

I've never understood the need for star names anyway? ..... But for the record, the original ones were non too clever, but the new ones are inappropriate for the site.

  • It all seems to have been done very quickly and not very sensibly. I find it much more offensive to be called a geek or a nerd than a mad money saver etc.

They don't even read right now, and like Wanty said, the one about 'this site is my home' is quite different from 'don't you have homes to go to'.

I don't think we should be pandering to one person's whinge about being offended. We would never get anywhere if we pandered to these folks every whim.

i much preferred it before too, i too think the new ones are worse than the old ones, I didnt see a problem with the old ones but do now.

If theres all this bother over them, then why dont they just get rid of them and just keep the star system?

Edit: Ive just noticed I dont have any stars?!

    Hi folks

The notes in the mental health discussion were the catalyst not the cause of the name change.

It's been something I've been looking to do for a long time (originally I intended that I would change them regularly) - I've also changed how many stars are needed now the site's been going longer.

It really isn't a big deal - its not about banning language on the site - it just seemed a good point for a change :)

oh for the record - I couldn't give a hoot what it says.

As I occasionally do - I agree with some of what Gingham has said in her posts (errr are you a She gingham ? - the Pseudo doesn't really give that away ) and feel she/he has made some good points.

It's gone all Americanised (or should that be Americanized?). Don't really know what geeks and nerds are...
