If what george has posted is correct (no expiry date on them) then they should be reissuing them. Cant bind consumers to hidden terms.

    They did re-issue them, though.

Call me crazy but I think companies should be doing whats right all the time rather than only doing whats right when the customer knows their rights and/or pushes the issue hard enough ;)

I wonder how their staff know the cards have expired if they(apparently) have no expiry date printed on them?
The example posted earlier appears to show the expiry date as 06/12.

Similar to expired debit/credit cards, something in/on the card is picked up by the cash register.

There does not need to be an expiry date on the card if a copy of T & Cs were supplied upon purchase.

Why is that relevant? Two days or two years, they were still out-of-date.
The OP seems to have a different "complaint" anyhow, since the cards were (eventually) re-issued.

    Yes

If it wasn't true then they wouldn't bother putting an expiry date on it as that would be pointless.

So you think someone has bid £17.51 (+ £2.50 P&P) on gift cards that expired over 4 years ago?

Sorry to say this (text removed by MSE Forum Team) but as others have said most gift cards do have an expiry date and the onus is on the customer to use them prior to that date. It is not the customer service that is bad or incorrect, it is just that your expectations are incorrect.
