Well it is oft repeated that only the very wealthy or the very poor can afford lots of children in this country.

I agree that it is no one else's business how many children someone has. Nor is it anyone's business how they provide for them. However, it is someone else's business how other people are expected to provide for them.
I don't expect anyone to provide anything for my children, and I was once married and didn't claim anything at all, had a big house and was part of the 'wealthy' as you call it, at least I'm assuming by wealthy you mean those that are exempt from any form of state help.
Sadly due to domestic violence and assaults on my children I found myself without a home or life that I once had- things change. Maybe one of my kids will become an MP or a Doctor or a Fire- person but I can guarantee they will be brought up with good family morals and a strong work ethic.

Mum of 8 starts thread asking if council can put family up after being served section 21.

    #justsaying
I didn't actually ask if the council could put me up I actually asked what would happen as a last resort if I can't find somewhere else, I have also despite being on the verge of giving birth contacted a realm of letting agents and been chasing up my current agent to see if there are any alternative properties. Of course I'm going to ask if the council will help if I can't find somewhere in time but you have assumed the worst- if you bothered to read the whole thread you will see that I have mentioned more than once that I want to avoid council accommodation and would rather find another private let.
Why so negative??? It's not helpful at all it's just nasty and uncalled for.

I think it might be best if you abandon this thread Kim, it's only going to cause you more stress which is the last thing you need at the moment.

    What fairy lights said.
  • Some of the responses on here are downright disgusting.

I wish you the very best with your new arrival and well done to you for not burying your head in the sand. I know it probably seems a long way off and difficult to imagine but this WILL get sorted and probably a lot quicker due to you being so proactive.

Have you looked on your council website to see if they offer any sort of
deposit bond scheme? It won't cover the 6 months you think you'll need , but it might be a step towards it.

Seriously? Get a clue, sniggings. It is exactly as has been described. There just plain is not enough social housing to go around and by that I mean Local Authority/Housing Association properties, not housing for people claiming benefits. Don't you watch documentaries? There are people being kicked out of their homes as we type! They need help now, tonight! Kim has a roof over her head at least until November. It must be so nice to have such a privileged life you have no idea what real life is like. If there were a choice to have council housing, there would be no private LLs! No-one in their right mind would choose to rent privately if they could get a council place. Do you think they grow on trees? Most of them have waiting lists of years, many of decades!

    And it's premise, not premiss.

What was that rant all about.

I simply said, if the OP qualifies for social housing and it's her preferred option why does she need to go the private route.

There is choice for some, so why not choose the option that you prefer.

Because there is no choice, try reading. How many properties do you think most councils have sitting empty just waiting for someone to move into? Very few indeed and even fewer suitable for such a large family as Kim's. As I said, get a clue... or go on displaying your ignorance, I could care less.

I hope you find a landlord willing to give you a chance with your goid track record and reference. I don't suppose your landlord knows of any other landlords they could speak to?

When looking for a private rental where you deal directly with the landlord rather than a letting agency be very wary when using Gumtree as there are a lot of gits on there scamming people out of rent and deposit for tenancies that will never exist.

Whilst landlords can't advertise directly on Rightmove and Zoopla they can use 3rd parties to post so if you see one of the companies listed below named as the letting agent then you'll actually be dealing direct with the landlord.
