  • Can I join? Aiming for £170 this month, which starts tomorrow.
  • Also, 56p on meatballs and two loose onions in the Co-op. Will guesstimate 50p for the onions, but will change signature.

Onions were 24p and meatballs 59p. So 23p to add back :rotfl:

Up to £29.70 / £200 now. Thanks to Mr tc insisting on buying milk even though we have some milk in. He wants semi skimmed and we have skimmed. He also decided to buy a newspaper. Grr.

Hi, just a quick one, sorry not strictly on topic, but I know you lovely ladies will know.... I'm trying to budget for a family of four for £130 a month, as that's all we have. So every penny counts. I went to Aldi today to research items and forgot the bananas  Can anyone tell me how many bananas you usually get in Aldis 68p packs?

    Thanks so much,

    Missy

So will be back shortly to do a proper grocery challenge post.

I always buy these and on average it's usually 6 or 7 'normal' size ones.... Very occasionally I've had one or two more and they are small and again very occasionally I've had 1 or 2 less and they are rather large.
But as I said I always buy these and it's usually either 6 or 7!

I spent £28.15 on Saturday and £4.97 today-but today's money was in the form of APG vouchers and £7 worth of scratch cards and I still have over £3 left. :) so I'm declaring that I've only spent £28.15 really-is that allowed or is it cheating?
Personally I would count the vouchers but not the scratch cards, unless you bought them out of the grocery fund.

It's fair enough to count vouchers, special offers, bulk buys etc and it's really up to you but you're only fooling yourself if you add in funds from somewhere else IYSWIM :D

    Thanks Lynne. :)
In that case, I now need to add another £1.28 onto my total as I only had £3.69 in APG vouchers. So I'm now up to £30.98/£200

Well, the recipe I followed for the cottage pie turned out really well!! :) got the thumbs up from DH too. And there were 4 portions left over for freezing :) was able to use up half a tin of beans from the fridge, as well as some carrots that were on the turn.

Have got a single southern fried chicken breast in the freezer leftover from a pack of 5. Thinking of cooking that for tea, slicing it up, combining with bacon and putting into leftover wraps from our chicken fajitas the other day, with lettuce. But will need something to go with it, to make it more filling. Not sure what though. Any ideas?

Think I'll do my first sept shop tonight. The list is roughly: lots of Apple juice cartons (3 for 40p in aldililly), choc type things for lunchbox treats, crisps, and some nice fruit and veg for over the weekend. Then I'll do my usual Sunday shop ready for the week ahead. The reason I'm going today is that often during term time, the apple juices are out of stock, and my ch don't really like the orange ones.

Oh is taking me out for kfc tonight, and so I'll shop after that when I'm full...! The children will be having the rest of the bacon, fried eggs, cheesy fritters and baked beans - most of those things need using up, so
