Spent £3.00 today: milk and bread. So I think I'm up to £33.98/£200 so I'm pretty impressed so far-especially as my month started on 26th August. :)

  • Thank you to those that run this thread .

Talked to the OH and he wants to keep our budget at £200 for the month. Says it will help us keep lower even if we go over. I can't argue with the logic. Month starts ttarts today and ends 30th.

Spends so far £33.41/£200, £166.59 left.

Having pizza, sweet potato chips/wedges and salad for dinner today.

Bought Carrots, Grapes, Apples, Bananas, Yogurts, Cereal, 2 x 6 pack of Cheese and Onion crisps, Milk and Bread for £5.50 as I used £8 worth of vouchers on them. I know some people would say I should count the vouchers, and if they were MrT or a supermarket specific voucher I would but these are ones I have received from the companies through writing to them (and saying truthfully how much I love their products) then I have decided to not count them as I would be unlikely to buy Brand products when I am quite happy with Own Brand/Value products. £29.37 remains of the budget.

£31.46 today for the bits and pieces I mentioned. Much, much less than I would normally spend for our 'weekly shop'. I think I may get on well with buy as you need as opposed to buying what I think I may need for an entire week. We'll see how it goes!

Signature, although I couldn't see it in my last post, updated :)

Leaves me 174.48 for the rest of the month, I am confident that I will come in under budget, hopefully enough for a take away/meal out weekend 24th September for hubbys birthday
  • First day of the month & I'm £80-odd down already, BUT shouldn't need any more pet or livestock food until October! I'll be dashing to the market for the bulk of the week's shopping tomorrow, but am away over the weekend so may not update my total until Monday. Money will be spent, I'm afraid - but not on groceries!

    Hi,

I'm now nearly one week in (month runs from 26th) and have spent £174.54/400 but that includes stuff for a months' worth of meals. In a bid to be more economical, for the first time I did a meal plan for the month, rather than just accumulating stuff in a slightly random manner.

First impressions of meal plan are that it is brilliant. I have managed 4 NSDs in the last week which is unheard of. :A Husband has shockingly actually commented that he's had enjoyed the meals and the variety- none of them have been difficult or lengthy to make. I added a few experiments from cookbooks so it really has felt like a more gourmet week despite spending less. Tonight we had pollack wrapped in parma Ham with asparagus, lemon and garlic- very tasty, quick and around £1 per portion as I got the pollack on special offer from Mr W last month. :money:

So thanks to all for your encouragement and the guidance to make good changes. :j
