Sitting here wondering what on earth to do today as I don't really fancy heading out. I started a knitting kit on Friday so going to do small stints of that and might start tackling the spare room too, alternating both. I might head to the gym but we shall see.I definitely feel happier in my house now, I find it strange sitting doing nothing but the knitting is helping. No money stuff to report really.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I have made a start on the filing cabinet in my spare room. When I say I have made a start, I have separated everything into piles...mine, Mr AJM and any joint stuff. While I know I am in a much better place than I was a few months ago even doing this is really tough but I know it will be crucial to me moving forward. Unsure what I need to keep and ditch so I am trying to make some sense of it while being kind to myself as I go. I am meeting Mr AJM for lunch in a 2 hours so I have a finish point. I will try and sort my stuff first as that shouldn't cause too much of an emotional rollercoaster. Be ready for questions of what I need to keep laterMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Not many venturing out in this weather very windy with heavy showers.Knitting - lovely - somehow just don't have the time for that anymore, which is a shame as I used to always have something on the needles. What have you started?A new favourite pastime is doing a free online jigsaw, passes a half hour when i'm having a cuppa. I'm sure I may have read that on hereAlways have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.194

What have you started?A new favourite pastime is doing a free online jigsaw, passes a half hour when i'm having a cuppa. I'm sure I may have read that on hereI have started a teddy bear kit thinking I would be able to give it to a friend's newborn. Only after I opened it did I see the small print saying it was not suitable for children under 3 years. I am knitting it anyway as my history with projects is it will take me that long to complete it!!!Right I have my first paperwork questions...it turns out I am a paperwork hoarder.Council tax schedules - do I keep ones from previous years or not? And the ones from my old house. I think I know this one but just checkingOld passport that expired when I got married as it has my maiden name on it and the corners cut off...I definitely seem to have issues with knowing what to keep...Car related documents:- I have kept documents to show I am no longer the registered keeper for 2 cars, is this my hoarding tendency or sensible?- Car insurance renewals etc how long do I keep these for?- Now the biggie, MOT documents and renewal schedules for cars I no longer own. I guess I don't need these asking anyway.I admit to looking at the folders I thought would be easier to sort. I have now run away from the room to do a couple of rows of knitting and will try another folder before I head out.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Council tax. just keep the newest one, then bin that when you get your 2020/21
Shred the old passport
I would get rid of the documents showing you don't own the cars (but that is my gut feeling)
Insurance renewals, do you mean the quotes and not the actual policy, I would just keep the latest policy
Stuff for cars you no longer own, bin it allMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0
ISA challenge start 2019 £3000/£1500 (50%)3 -
I have a lot to shred!!!!Next set of questions...- Payslips - it was suggested during a pensions appointment that I just needed to keep my payslips for either side of the tax change and my P60 for the last 6 years, any thoughts? I currently have every single payslip in date order since I started with my employer in September 2000 (where is the rolling smiley when you need it)- Banking stuff - keep anything within the last 6 years and ditch everything else?- Mortgage stuff - guessing I don't need to keep the mortgage stuff from the old house.- Stuff for a loan I was guarantor for that has long been paid off, I guess I either get rid of it all or keep the proof it was paid off.For now Mr AJM's stuff has gone into the bottom drawer of the safe and my slimmed down stuff is going in the top one. He knows I am sorting through this and maybe once I am done I can help him go through his. Until he has somewhere to store his paperwork it is staying in my house so the more organised it can be the better.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Home insurance renewed, for the last 5 years my renewal quote as been the cheapest by far. I had £279.63 (amount saved was for renewal on the old house) saved up and the renewal was £137.78. Unsure what I am going to use the extra money for although it pretty much pays for the 2 new pairs of shoes I bought today!!!Next job is to look at my energy renewal as my current deal is up at the end of the month.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
