NST August: Cut the chaff

Evkizzy - That sounds like a fairly standard type of response to a really bad day to me. I think that there's way worse that you could have done. Don't beat yourself up. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on. Just don't give up. Personally I would have done something very similar in your situation.
I'm not doing so well - I never do in August, being off work with the kids. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not complaining. But it is why I do the exam marking - so that I can spend a bit more without getting into trouble financially...Not giving up

Thank you all for your kind words.
My SO got us a takeaway so I wouldn't have to cook tonight. I've had no energy all day and have barely moved from my bed burrito. I'll be having a bath soon to help calm me down and hopefully relax me a bit.
I'm going to take a big (totally safe) dose of diazepam to help me get a good night's sleep after my bath. I'll reassess everything tomorrow when everything is less raw.

Morning,
Yesterday was a NSD and today will be the same, happy days!
I was telling my GF about how I nearly bought myself some clothes and the other day I was looking at a new portable DAB radio as I'd lost mine. Found it last night under the mattress (how is that even possible) so I've saved my self near £100!!!0 -
Hello, sorry not read in ages. At least one of those bloody boulders in the way again. DD had to go into hospital last week for a few days (she's grand again, phew) and DS started school this week. Money wise things don't look to bad however and I started doing some more things in the house (filled hole in our bedroom wall where water tank got replaced (3 years ago!!!), painted bathroom radiator etc. Stopped smoking. So if I can keep the momentum going I'll rejoin again next month.
Miss you guys and your support, so I'll be backDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Hi all,
Welcome back thrifty, glad DD is ok and well done on the smoking.
Really excited that I've sold an item on gumtr33 and it's been collected and paid forWish I could pay it off my debt now but I have it in cash and need to get it to the bank. I've also requested my first £20 from checkout smart although I need some of that for petrol. Also today is a SFD, all food from home and went to work this morning for results day, so no money spent.
Hope you've all had a good dayLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Hi all. I am back from my hols.
We spent nearly all the cash we took with us for spending money, normally we bring quite a bit back but just £6 came back with us this time. We had a lovely time and it was all budgeted for too,
Last weekend the kids traded in their Wii games and got just over £65 which they split between them (after a lot of arguments). I need to grocery shop tomorrow and the budget for that is looking a bit grim tbh. No big plans for any other significant spends over the weekend though and a week tomorrow is payday.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

As expected, a NSD form me as I'm stuck in work. Maybe there is a benefit to working these long hours despite not being paid for them.
Really looking forward to the weekend actually to get some time to myself, it's been one of those weeks. I hope the expenditure isn't too high and I could even manage a NSD!0 -
Haven't managed on for a while, it's been a busy week. Exciting news - me and OH finally got allocated a council flat after years of being on the waiting list, we went to see it earlier in the week and pick up the keys tomorrow
Unfortunately it means that my debt will increase a bit as we don't have any savings to use to furnish a flat, however, as the rent is very cheap I will be able to pay it back quickly. Other exciting news - I'm moving jobs soon, still within the same organisation but to a different service so looking forward to a new challenge.
Anyway back to NST stuff
Bit of a fail really - I've totally lost track of my NSDs, think I've managed a couple this week. Today I was at training and went out for lunch with a former colleague, was lovely to catch up but a bit naughty as I have a meal out planned with the girls tomorrow.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77

Re: Wednesday night’s takeaway:"Be prepared for a sudden, needed and happy change in plans." - message in last night's fortune cookie.
Creepy.
Then after a lot of time spent as a bed burrito...Just took advantage of the Tesco wine glitch as seen on Jordan Cox's fb page. Got 6 bottles of Casillero del Diablo Metlot (selling at £8 each) for £3.50 a bottle using the 25% off 6 and by adding 9 cheap items (some of which have just earned me money on cashback apps), to take advantage of the TBG.
Feeling exhilarated!
Full shopping/saving/freebie collecting trip...Ugh! I got so swept up in the excitement of heavily discounted wine, that I forgot to check if it was SFV... it's not.
Though, I'm unhappy that I purchased something where animal products have been used to make the wine, it was a huge saving so I've decided to keep them and give them as gifts at Christmas. That's under my £5 per person budget which is good so far. That's 6 gifts bought for £21... £14 under budget!
I found tonnes of discounted items in Tesco today including a 6x1L pack of Alpro Soya Wholebean milk alternative (with one missing) for just £4.50 (that's 90p each. Usually around £1.30-1.70 each). Along with a load of dented cans of peaches for 23p with long dates on them... [I whizz them up and add to schnapps and champers at Christmas to make Bellinis!]
I bought 9 schwartz herbs and spices for £13.50 and recieved a total of £15 in cashback for them making me £1.50 profit and yet more free seasoning to add to the SP. My bread, pasta and lettuce earned me 95p in CB seriously reducing my usual shop. I'm really falling in love with COS, SH & CS... I find TCB to be really slow and has a lot more restrictions on where to buy and purchase limits but free money is free money.
I used the pealy (sp?) on a discounted Wilkinson Sword disposable razor pack to buy the WS quattro bikini for £2 less (it was already reduced from £10 to £5.48 in Superdrug) and that pack came with a code to send off for a free Nails Inc. varnish. (worth £11). :P
I also used an online code to get my free Bodyshop nail varnish (worth £5). Whoop whoop for freebies!!!
Does wombled (saved) money count towards M10AM?
I effectively saved £67.09 today (through discounts, freebies, coupons & CB) . Plus I found 5p in roadkill.
Feeling pretty savvy right now.
Oh and I made £90 life modelling.
Sorry for the long post but I bounced back pretty quickly.
