Morning all (or afternoon I should say)
Apologies for not being more frequent with checking in. It's a combination of being shamefully spendy this week and also getting distracted with my crochet and not coming back online.
I have overspent (so I'm with you Bob) - I get into these ruts from time to time. But I'm writing it all down and keeping calm and hopefully won't blow the budget. As I say it's exactly why I do the exam marking - so me and the kids can do a bit of something.
Today is more crochet, bits of housework and getting ds to footy training tonight. Hopefully not too many spends.
I have some iced buns in the kitchen that are past their best - I don't want to throw them away but not sure what to make with them. Have been thinking something like a trifle or bread and butter pudding etc. There must be something. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Bread and butter pudding would work if you slice the buns lengthwise and butter them. I'd probably thinly slice/ peel off the icing bit, though

Afternoon all,
SFD here but my budgets are looking horrendous. It's a combination of being off work, having budgeted too harshly and all the little spends that add up (new diary, new phone cover etc). However I did discover something amazing. I usually have a glass cover on the front of my phone so I don't smash it, and I've gone through 3 of these in 2 years (approximately £20 a time) but they save the cost of mending a broken phone (up to £80 a time). The latest one I had, had a lifetime warranty and as mine cracked I looked up this warranty on their website and they'll send you a replacement for £5.99Not only this but you can have as many replacements as you like and being as I've just gone out of contract and onto a sim only plan, this is great news

I did a very bad thing and indulged on my 'wants' today. Bought a frozen pizza, 2 magazines and (and i'm going to have to explain this) a barbie alarm clock on ebay.
It is the same alarm clock I had as a young girl and I have been trying to replace it either since my dad got rid of it. So yes, it was a totally unnecessary purchase, but I know I am going to treasure it.
The magazines are a bit harder to justify, I have read one cover to cover already and have picked up some really useful information, including a good present idea for my brother, but the two magazines came to 8.49, and there is a book i want in my amazon basket for 9.09 which would have lasted forever and had a resell value, and I told myself this as I went to look at the magazines and I still bought them. Bad couple of days as a result of the family situation. It blew up totally yesterday and I ended up saying some things to a family member which I possibly shouldn't have said. However, I was accused by some other family members (not directly to me) of profiting to the tune of thousands of pounds in sorting out Probate. I have spent hours on this already and was going to pay the fees myself and then reclaim the money from the estate when it was all finalised (I'd have to produce a set of accounts) before paying the money out to the legal beneficiary/ ies. I offered to do it purely because it was for my family and I've dealt with similar matters before and understand the forms. The person accusing me of making money (I would have made nothing and probably spent out on mileage/ postage/ parking to sort things) 'borrowed' £9000 from my late uncle earlier this year and didn't repay it. They charged him petrol money to visit him in hospital and told everyone they didn't want anything to do with him. They took money from his bank account (and won't produce any bank statements) They are mortgage free (paid off by my nan) but have always been appalling in managing their money. They have been pleading poverty to the rest of the family.
Argh!! Sorry to vent but my extended family is rapidly falling apart and it is horrible
I was very p-ed off last night. OH got takeaway whilst I was on the phone to family members. And then I induged in wine, maltesers and toffifee.....
The saga continues today. I hope I get no further phone calls about it tomorrow
Am currently waiting for DD to get home from a night out in town.... DS1 is off to army cadets summer camp tomorrow morning. I forgot about that when food shopping in the week - I must freeze some stuff as a result.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Morning all
Hugs greent - hope you have a peaceful day today.
Well Wednesday was a NSD and then yesterday should have been until I realised it was my DB's OH's DS's birthday today and although I'd got his present, I hadn't got him a card so I had to buy that.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all.
I was up with the lark this morning, woke really early and couldn't get back to sleep.
Minimal spends yesterday, bought a present and card for DH's birthday today but we only buy a token gift and it was budgeted for. Tonight we are having a takeaway for his birthday and again the money is set aside for that. Apart from that I am hoping to keep spends low today.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Thoughts are with you greent. Grief really does bring out the very worst side of some people. I remember thinking my dh and his brother might end up having a punch up at my mil's funeral - EastEnders style - because they'd fallen out so badly. I hope it all sorts out for you sooner rather than later.
I am ill today and as a result have bagged a nsd. It also means I've done absolutely nothing other than sleep...Not giving up

Reporting in a NSD for yesterday but a spend for today (and probably tomorrow) - today we went to a fundraising thing my friend had organised and as she is lovely then it counts towards my relationship goal.
Also managed to get rid of some more committee stuff - delivered 4 prizes today so that's another thing ticked off the list.
Still limiting my screen time as much as possible.0
