How much rent should my parents charge me?

If you can't manage with minor inconvenience to help out your own family, what sort of person are you?
Possibly a person who thinks that their adult child is taking advantage of them while resenting them, despite the help offered.
We have one of ours living at home because of health problems but we work as a team of adults - the OP seems to think that her parents still owe her something.0 -
If they are not losing financially from doing so, why wouldn't parents with room not allow their offspring to return home in a non-profit scenario. Ok they lose some privacy, but this is their offspring. If you can't manage with minor inconvenience to help out your own family, what sort of person are you?
Does it really matter?
End of the day the parents have asked for £50 a week
Surely it's up to the op to decide if she wants to pay it, or move out
That's the reality0 -

This ^^^ It's fine to help your offspring when they want help, but the OP is taking the pee, and has a massive 'entitled-to' attitude. You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

In my world, a 35 year old with pensioner parents is more ikely to be helping them out financially rather than the other way round - whether living at home or not.0 -
We only have the OP's side of the story.
Perhaps her parents think she needs an incentive to earn more money.0 -

You've got about £3000, in savings and your moaning about paying £50 a week.
How long have you lived there paying nothing, yes you say they agreed to you moving back but how long do you expect them to keep you or try for 20%.
You're a adult and should be aware £50 is cheap including everything, yes you say you buy most of your food but that's not everything and it's cheap anyway, you would have to buy food pay bills etc if you were renting. Plus they let you use the car.
Your mum has said she's concerned about money, your dad's retiring and all you can think about is yourself. Not, yes mum I'll give you £50, thank you. You sound immature and selfish.0 -

But why do you see it only that way round - surely helping out your own family works both ways when adults are involved?0 -

It might be a massive inconvenience.
The OP is there almost all of the time - she only works 16 hours per week.0 -
There are people who post on here about how they hate their parents ....some parents may dislike the adults that their children have grown into. They can put up with them for a while - but to live with?0
