Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    edited 5 December 2016 at 3:20PM
    Hi All

In a cafe on the free wi-fi not sure if it's going to play ball though...ah it did fab.

Today's been a busy one. Meeting at 10 with a client, then to the accountants and the bank. DD flaked out after being very unsettled for ages, so I am having 10 mins to recaffinate before the school run.

Have had a new client recommended to me today by a contact who is quite simply brilliant. Anyway after a quick turnaround it looks like that is another £200 in business for January. Will have half shortly! So for anyone keeping up that's £50/£75/£75/90 in deposits coming in OVER the £1900 revenue I listed for December originally. I am rather pleased!

Don't think I'm on easy street though. Spent a very tense day yesterday after I suspected a big cancellation coming my way. Turned out to be something entirely different but I was so stressed it was horrible.

    Baby wakes. Better go...

    Bob

Fab news about extra revenue than originally planned Bob.

Hopefully as things get easier financially and the business gets busier the stressful worrying will start to lessen for you :)
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭

Thanks Kirsty. It is a downside to self employment that's for sure. And 10 mins after I posted earlier I had another bomb land which I am still trying to defuse. It's my fault entirely, but things seem to move so fast sometimes that I think anyone would make mistakes. Sadly for me that is absolutely no use to use as a defense.

  • Oh Bob - you really are a wonder. I just could not deal with the stress of self employment. It sounds as though you're doing fantastic though - look at all of that cash you've got rolling in!

Cat you are far too kind. But thank you!

Well overall a Frugal day. I took coffee out with me this morning, and a few snacks for both of us, and half a sandwich (stupidly froze a loaf yesterday only to find one slice this morning) so despite being out the house from 9am to 4.30pm my only spend was on one coffee as it was so cold, and a bus top up. (£5.50)

We had jacket potatoes for dinner and sardines with salad. Fridge is empty again so will need food tommorow.

I 'think' the issue this afternoon has now been dealt with.

Just paid another £10 off the card. £90 to go to hit my target of £2,000 repaid in 2016.

Sorry there was another issue Bob, it really is a rollercoaster for you with work, but I am glad it seems to be sorted now.

You are firing through the debt repayments now, I'm sure you will hit your target :D

    Thanks Kirsty!

Well people I will have to tell you all to shhhhhhhhh as we are on golden time. I have 35 precious still moments before I need to leave the library for school pick up. DD is asleep! And I am sat down. For the first time since 9am. Utter bliss.

So far today, had to get myself to the business for 11, met two clients there and had a nice chat with my window cleaner who was just finishing off.
Then that concluded I walked to my accountants with a big sack of paperwork as he wants to finish my year end before he goes off for January. His family live abroad and he always goes to see them then. I had a little bit of a scary experience with a man who in my uneducated opinion, had mental illness issues, he was muttering away to himself standing in one spot on the corner of the road. As I passed he started to slowly follow along behind me which didn't concern me as I live in an area near to a top London psychiatric health care unit and I see unusual things quite often.
But as I sped up because I'm a fast walker by nature so did he. We were coming to quite an isolated part of the area and I began to feel very scared. There is one very narrow road and there was me speeding along with the buggy and he was still following along. I could see builders on the main road and just really put some space between us and as we exited onto the busier street he turned away and I didn't see him again. A something in nothing story but unsettling. I wondered afterwards whether the big bag attracted his eye. But had he grabbed it all he would have been rewarded with were bank statements and reciepts.
Dropped off at the accountants then took DD to the playground, where she was the first baby on the new swings a park maintenance man was fitting. We had a nice visit for around an hour then I popped to CN for coffee (bad habits forming again) got my card stamped with loyalty points though and made use of the free iced water, and the loo!

After DD dropped off I walked slowly on to Mr S, where I bought a pack of chicken wings for me and Mr Bobs tea, oven chips to go with them, some salad leaves, a jar of mayo, cookies and some cheese strings. I used a coupon for triple points, and a coupon for 30 extra points for buying the mayo. I found 5p at the till which I added to the 4p I'd already found for the day, and chucked that into the till. I also found a receipt for 14 points which I got them to add to my card at the manned till.

Whilst I was out earlier one of my clients sent confirmation of a deposit payment (will check later) & I recieved an interesting request through one of the websites I have listed the place on. They had a decent budget and it would be in Feb, so we'll see if anything comes of that.

All yesterday's dramas are put to bed. DH is representing us at parents evening today, but as his appointment is pre 6pm should be back at a normal time for dinner.

I don't know if anyone else watched the Mark Duggan documentary last night, it was incredibly tense, and very interesting. I felt so sorry for his poor family. I feel very strongly that things need to change for all of our children to be safe on the streets.

    Back later.

And again for the 3rd day running have just gone from really happy to feeling rubbish in the space of 10 minutes. Today's balls up involves a miscommunication over a meeting. Someone had a wasted journey and despite the fact I never knew they were going to turn up, I feel sick and rotten. I will probably lose their business now all for the sake of one missed message.

On the upside my husband just called me from parents evening and said our son had been given glowing reviews by all. Hes reading 2 years 7 months ahead of his age & doing very well in all subjects. So I guess that is about 600% more important than the other......

  • Hi Bob,

Sounds like you've had a rather interesting few days.

Great news over the extra revenue, that's excellent. Your CC will be at £700 before you know it too.

Very scary indeed the bloke following you, please be careful.

Yay to the coffee, sometimes you need a treat to remind you that you're you and not just a mummy and a wife...so don't beat yourself up too much.

Sorry about the mix up today, these things are unavoidable and is down to human error, I'm sure they'll be back.

Fantastic news on DS and parents evening, you and DH must be very proud and rightly so too :D

Chin up lovely, tomorrow is a new day xx
