Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

I am rushing a bit as we are now on the run down to school pick up o clock. Today I have:

    1. Been shopping. I wrote a list. Shopped for main meals as today is a planned spend day. Tommorow a NSD. I spent £20.30 (note to self update grocery sig total)
    2. Came home. Rang a company who owes me £30. Asked why the cheque had not been reissued as requested. Now I know. It will be coming soon.
    3. Rang Indesit as we are one of those with an affected tumble drier. Couldn't get hold of anyone. Have left a message.
    4. Rang the docs to order more pills (the ultimate money saver, lol) have to go for a med review tomorrow to recieve them. Have arranged with OH to cover the school runs as it's a late appointment
    5. I recycled my pumpkin into the compost heap
    6. Made scones using up some lemon rind, freshly grated ginger, orange zest and juice and a plum
    7. Whilst the oven was on I made a lasagne for DS tonight, his dinner tommorow and our dinner tommorow. I then made a beef pie for OH and I. I bought a £5 pack of frying steak today that had 4 steaks in it. I used just one for the pie as that was plenty. The other 3 have been allocated for a steak dinner later in the week and the spare one I will cook and use in a stir fry.
For the pie I will be using up some pics pastry I cooked and froze from an event I catered.
Also used up a big bag of carrots from the freezer in the pie.
    8. Have checked my online banking. More bills gone out today but fine.
    9. Hoping my bus money will stretch another day thanks to the hopper fare
    10. Line drying some washing as it's beautiful sun here again despite being cold.

    Back later

    Bob

  • Pleased things are looking up Bob, and that you're enjoying the extra time with the family. There's a lot to be said for it. I do wish that there was such a thing as a work life balance in teaching - I love my job but it isn't ideal for spending time with the family.

Thanks Cat I do feel for you, you work so hard and teaching does sound so hard. I am grateful for what you do, our kids would be much worse off without people like you.

A great day so far. Planned for it to be my 2nd NSD of NOvember, and it will be. Headed out at 9 to make the most of the gorgeous sunshine. DD and I went to a local park, which has a nature garden, several play areas, and most importantly, dogs! She loves them. We spent a happy 2 hours there, before I popped her in the buggy to come home. She was asleep before we left the park, which is amazing as naps are hard to come by. She is still asleep now, so I have had 1.5 hours to eat my lunch, catch up on admin & actually come onto MSE on a computer for the first time in months. Its so much easier than typing on a tablet.

I found 1p on my way back from the park, so Im up on the day :)

It has turned very cold here since the start of the week. OH is dropping heavy hints now on turning on the heating. I will probably have to cave in soon...It irks me to know that our £56 bill will shoot up to around £120 though once it is on. And I find you never really are warm anyway through the winter. And that price is for around 1 hour before getting up in the morning, and 2 in the evening, so hardly the lap of luxury anyway. Grrr....

I posted 3 letters this morning all nice and early so the recipients will get them on time, and I could just use 2nd class stamps. OH has finally booked the health check the doctors asked him to attend back in May, yesterday for the end of November, so one less thing to nag about.

Starting to panic a bit as its DS birthday mid month and I havent organised the celebration yet. Need to research party options asap, but may well go with a small do at home this year, which we have never actually done. His 1st we just had at home with the 3 of us, his 2nd with his grandparents, his 3rd was the only one I have ever actually booked a venue for, and it was really lovely, but I went a bit mad and catered for all the adults with lovely expensive deli foods. 4th we did a treasure hunt in the park (they all wore coats :) and then back to my business premises for a simple party tea. No party for 5th. 6th we did in the park again, and catered at home. No party for 7th as we'd just literally had the baby, and here we are! Even just running through all that makes me realise how fast the years are going!

Have the docs at 2.15 so OH is doing the school run, so I really do have a simple day today.

    Morning

Had a bit of drama to wake up to this morning. Can't say more in case it blows up into something worse. It just points out to me that elements of my life are just not stable at all. But I honestly don't know how to do things differently right now.

Other than that today is a planned spend day. Need more groceries. We are well under budget this week. Spent on Monday but not much £11 on food. £20 on Wednesday. Today I will aim to get enough in so we can have 2 NSDs sat and Sunday. Im working on Sunday so that takes the pain out of that day.

Not feeling very chipper so I will sign off. Good day all.

Hope all is ok Bob, and that you feel brighter soon :)
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭
  • Big hugs to you Bob, hope things settle down again.

Hope you feel better soon too xx

In the scheme of things the matter seems to have been resolved. So I will just try and learn as much as I can and move on.

Thanks for the sympathies Kirsty & PurpleMum
