Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!

    Evening All

Currently have a red hot baby stuck to my chest. She's been asleep a while but any efforts to transfer to the cot are met with grumbles and complaint's. She had the joy of her MMR today plus booster shots for MenB and Rubella. Poor little dot, stuck with 4 needles, two in each leg. We have been giving calpol every 4 hours since but I fear we may be in for a long night.

Have had some good things today. One of the lovelies from the Small Things thread sent me an unneeded oyster card with around £6 on it. So it was a free travel day. So many good people on here.

Recieved a cheque for £50, two free coffees, and a free bottle of unbranded name calpol.

As today is one of only 2 spend days allowed this week (NST military rules) I stocked up. Spent £39 in Mr S and got enough for the whole week. Among some of the good bargains were 2 of the mini pizzas DS likes for £1 each rather than £2. I used up £7 of the £18 worth of Pampers vouchers they sent me after I complained about leaking nappies, to buy 76 nappies for £9.50. So I paid £2.50 myself. That amount should do about 2.5 weeks I think. I also bought 500g mince, 8 pork sausages, 1kg of chicken wings, 4 beef burgers (quarter pounders) 1 pizza for the freezer, 1 box of fish fingers, 2 *cheap pasta sauce (you can't make it cheaper) spaghetti, pasta, 2 *bags of tangerines, a loaf, a litre of milk, leaves, cucumber, toms, marmite, 14 bags of crisps in a multi pack, bag of spuds, bag of onions, deodorant, toothpaste, biscuits, 2 * baby snack bags, a block of cheddar, cream crackers. That's it!

I never normally buy so much as I shop daily for ease of carrying but as OH was off and with the challenge in mind I think that's a pretty good haul for under £40. Pleased with my GC figure for the month too.

Had another booking today which has been so easy so far unlike many of the protracted discussions I end up in...I say so far, let's wait and see how long for the deposit....

I need to go and buy DSs presents on my other spend day. I'm really looking forward to his little party.

    Night all

Sounds like a very productive day Bob, and that sounds like a great haul for under £40!

Hope little one was ok through the night after her jabs, it seems so cruel to give them so many all at once but better than it being drawn out over months.

I might have to look at the NST challenge once we move into the new house to keep spends under control. I know I'm likely to want to go mad and furnish the extra rooms we will be gaining but I will not go mad, and a good challenge will keep me occupied!
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭

Thanks Kirsty she was alright in the end. We had her 1 year review today as well. The nurse was pleased with her. And I came away with a bag of little books courtesy of the government programme.

NST is very good. Hope you do come and join in :)

    Hi All

NSD 5 of a hoped for 22 this month. Didn't go near a shop all day. Lots of walking.

Turned down 2 enquiries today as no availability. 1 other led to quite a lot of dialogue about a future event.

Chased up two bookings that I am yet to receive deposits for. One deposit received from another party.

Roast pork in the oven for dinner.

"The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house all that cold and wet day"

I think we might well be in all day today, well till 2 anyway! It's pouring here. Fitting weather for the news this morning...

    A run down on stats

    -15 days to pay day
    - 5/9 days have been NSDs
    - £114 spent on groceries so far. Because our month starts from the 25th that works out £7.60 per day to cover all groceries.
-£186 remaining in grocery budget =£12.40 per day so should be fine
    - 4 DDs still to go out between now and 22nd
    - Food remaining for main meals, chicken, mince, burgers a pizza, pasta and veg
    - We have enough eggs, cheese, ham to do lunchtimes for me and DD, DH takes leftovers or a sandwich and DS eats at school
    - 0 ebay sales this month. Annoying as I still have a piece of kit that would raise £300> but I'm sure it WILL go eventually
    - £75 worth of cheques sitting ready to pay in (personal)
    - £30 cheque still to come in (personal)

I think today will be a NSD too. The only thing we might run out of before my next planned spend day (Friday) is butter. So I will have something other than a sandwich today which means the little bit left will last to tommorow's breakfast toast at least.

    Morning All

NSD 7 by default as DS is off sick. So no reason to go out today. Will have to go and get butter tonight when DH gets back but I conveniently recieved a Mr T voucher for £2.50 last night in the post so no need to spend my money.

14 days to pay day. I realised I had a pack of sausages in as well after giving the run down of what was left.

Ended up in bed asleep by 9 last night. Didn't mean to buy OH had his friend over for a meeting and I went up to settle DD and before I knew it was fast asleep. Must have needed it.

    Have a good day all.

Your NSDs are amazing Bob, I always end up failing, probably because I keep finding amazing bargains, but even the odd 80p always annoys me.

Sorry to hear DS is unwell, but it is cold, wet and horrid outside anyway.

  • Yay to the NSD's, very impressive.

Hope DS is feeling much better by tomorrow. There's so much going about at the moment, I blame the cold snap.
  • Hope your son is feeling better Bob and it doesn't get passed on to you or hubby. I've got a horribly wheezy chest that started yesterday that I hope doesn't develop further. There seems so much going about.
