Bob, I'd recommend black out blinds too, we've had them from Arg0s and B&Q.

I'm lucky with ds2, he wakes up between 6-7, comes in to us and the loo and goes back to his room to read. He doesn't have anything noisy in his room which helps! He used to be waking between 5-6 until we got some blackout blinds so I would highly recommend!

Thank you, I will get googling. I am loving these endorsements & hopeful we can see a change.

    Morning All

Woken to a beautiful morning. And we all slept! Horray.

Today is a busy day, we have events on over the next two days, so I will be in and out to support. It will provide a good opportunity to get to know my clients better too. I'm just reading 'How to win friends and influence people, in the digital age' which is a revisiting of the original book. It points out that business isn't about winning work, but developing relationships, even now. Positivity and creativity are important themes as is the focus on being the best you, you can be rather than looking outside yourself for solutions. Amazing that the books original author has been dead since 1955 but it is still one of the top selling self help books in the world.

On that note time to get us up and gone!

    Have a good day all.

    Bob

Come to think of it, when DD1 first proposed this rule, about a year ago, GD was enthusiastic about being given a clock of her very own for the purpose, just a cheap digital one she was allowed to choose herself :)

Just a thought - might save paying out for blackout blinds?

I went for the boots and braces approach - own lamp, own alarm clock, they chose the colour of the blackout blinds:rotfl: They were from Jason at the Argos-nauts - didn't help with the birds waking me up with their tweeting, but kept the kids in bed for another couple of hours, so no grumpy men-folk complaining about ' people stealing his sleep'.

Dd's bedroom is tiny, but the window goes from wall to wall, so curtains are of little use, even dark brown ones! Folded double!

I think we may have bought a blind that you can cut to the size you want - I'm sure they exist. Probably from amzn.

We do still have curtains, but more for the prettiness value than for blocking out light. And they are useful for the edges especially in the height of summer, as the rising sun can really get through the cracks at the sides, and wake dd.

    Hope this make some sense.

We've bought blinds from blinds2go - made to measure and lots of colour options. Good price for made to measure - I hate cutting roller blinds! :)

    Morning Bob,
A bit behind the times, but glad that DD is Ok, head bumps are always really scary.
I didn't know there was an updated "how to win friends/influence..." version - will need to look that up - read the original probably 10 years ago! I am a people watcher (not the creepy sort I hasten to add:D) and have come across some amazing people who put everything perfectly into practice. I always found I was fine with building relationships unless money/own business was involved - then somehow it is so much harder to do......yet I am happy enough doing the exact same thing if it is fundraising for a charity or another cause? That's probably why I will never be "rich" in making money terms!

Perfectly, and good to know you still suggest curtains as double precaution. :)
