    Thanks NOA :)

Yes, and sorry if it sounded smug or anything like that, it certainly wasn't supposed to be. I think I have made less in the 5 years I've been SE than in 1 year of having a 'normal job' so that's a huge reason not to make that choice.

Ha ha to the cat up the curtains thing. I really would NEVER have got that one :rotfl:

Don't be daft - you don't sound smug at all. I know how hard you work and what it all means to you. Truth is I just couldn't be that brave. I like knowing what wage I have coming each month and couldn't be doing with the effort required to be self employed.

Bob lovely to read your post last night, didn't seem smug at all. We all make decisions in life and most of us can't have it it all, time with the smalls, money, best job ever etc.. so I think your approach is very sensible and to be commended. Hope May is very fruitful for you and your family.

    Perps x

Thank you, I agree completely that trying to have it all is just not possible. Hope May is good for you too!
I hope May is a better month for you. As you say, I think getting back to your normal routine will help. I always find the whole month of December really difficult in terms of excessive spending. It's not just Christmas shopping but the all the disruptions leading up to the event with xmas parties, concerts etc etc and the contagious 'anything goes' attitude floating around at that time of year (Yes, I am a right old grinch!)

Hi Georgina. December is a classic for that isn't it. Even as a dedicated MSEr it's so easy to be tricked into opening the purse (again)

I am also extremely lucky that my OH has a good job. I would not be able to pay the bills doing this at the moment.

    Good Morning All

Have fallen off MSE again this week. It's been a good one though. Last night was a bit of a dodgy one as I went to handout flyers at the local station only to discover there had been a major incident a few hours previous, and it wasn't really a great time to be in among it all. Anyway I did it and came home.

    Wealth

    * I have emailed the council to enquire about hardship relief and my rates. I want to know on what grounds they grant it. I also emailed the energy company to explain that I am having a bit of a cash crunch at the moment and my plan for dealing with it. No reply to either message yet.

    * I had one new client who did a viewing last week book 3 dates which is great. So that's money to come in.

    * I have had three local enquiries which I'm really pleased about as it means the community are wanting to support the venture. All would provide ongoing revenue if successful.

    * We have had two very successful events this week with one client and I really like working with them. It's nice to be developing ongoing business too rather than one offs.

    * I have successfully brought in most of the money owed to me now. It really is a case of keeping at it half the time.

    * Our own finances wobbled off a lot during April. Directly caused by my lack of funds. I'm not happy about it. But understanding why you go wrong is half the battle isn't it.

    Health

    * I really need to replace my trainers. They are flat on the bottoms! No bounce in them, and I have been finding my back is aching. Not a big spend really in the scheme of things, but it needs fixing.

    Organisation

    * I finally got around to emailing my son's teacher yesterday about his report, which my husband had attended the parents evening for. It was nothing bad just I wanted to understand a few things better. So now can file that report away.

    * Get OH to pack some more stuff into the loft that is taking up living space but not being used.

    * The garden....I have Sunday and Monday off. I must weed! At least for some of that time. A client came to the house to drop off some promotional items the other evening and I was so embarrassed of the scruffy garden!

Right on that note. Time to rise. And hopefully shine!

    Bob

Hope you're having a lovely bank holiday.

  • Sounds like a positive close to April after a bit of a roller coaster month. Fingers crossed May is a little kinder and gentler.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
