Yes Jacks, I'm afraid it does. But since Boots brought out their advantage card I've managed to amass apx £600 of points (without the easy ones you get for using the optition), so lord knows how much all that alone adds up to, not thinking about all the money I've spent in Debenhams, Superdrug etc:o
No7 have a pen along the same lines as touche eclat which I use. It's probably not as good as the YSL but it's only £11 and it doesn't give me sore and scabby eyes!1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0

I could do with getting clued up about cheaper alternatives as the ones I've tried in an attempt to cut down have never been a patch on the originals.

I am totally with you all on this. While I was a DFW I religiously used up all my bottles that were cluttering up the bathroom cupboard.
Now I am DF I still love cosmetics but I have a budget, £20 per month. This might seem a lot but I love John Frieda brilliant brunette which is £9.00 for the shampoo and conditioner! So, I only buy it every couple of months and use a cheaper alternative when I am not going out but still want clean hair. I also try not to wash my hair every day and have found it doesn't get as dry.
Instead of using body scrubs I have bought some exfoliating mits from Boots and I use this alongside my usual shower gel (I like the radox moitsurising one).
My OH travels regularly for work and he usually gets me a gift at the airport (perfume, chocolates etc) I have now pointed him in the direction of the make up counters with explicit instructions about what to buy (dior usually!). I always ask for make up for Christmas and birthdays.
I have very dry skin and swear by aqueous cream, I get it from boots (have to ask for it at the pharmacy counter) and it costs about £3 for a huge tub. It is very thick so I smother it on before bed (and wear old pjs because it goes everywhere) and then wash it off in the shower the next morning. It even sorts out the crocodile skin on my feet.
Be careful with suncream, it goes "off" after 1 year and isn't as protecting. I use mine all through winter as well on my hands and face. I have done for a couple of years and I swear it is protecting my skin from wrinkles.Saving for an early retirement!0

I too admit that I am a beauty-a-holic . I have tonnes of stuff in my bathroom cupboard and in my bedroom and that is after giving a tonne of it away  . In the past I have spent way too much money on this stuff, I wont compromise my make up etc but I am going to stop buying all the cheaper alternatives I buy when I cant afford to buy the one I really want. So by sticking to the one thing I will be saving money, Everything is going to be used up before I buy a new one and will put them on my xmas and birthday wishlist. If that makes sense?? Off to have a rake through and see exactly what I have. Hi Jacks
thanks for letting me know putting the Dior stuff on might be a plan. The only thing I did wonder about was not clicking on the used tab in the item specifics in case the item gets pulled (ie because it breaks the ebay rules), so how did you list your 'gently used' make up? (love that phrase by the way).
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

 Hey sweetie,
I think I did click "used"in the item specifics (I didn't realise it was against eBay rules. Why do they even have a used option in make up then???? Why do they even have a used option in make up then???? ) )
I can remember having this whole debate with myself about whether "used" would put people off when they were searching because most of the stuff was just tried once and I didn't want people to think it was minging! (I stated it was used in the listing, and described exactly *how* used we were talking but I didn't want people to rule it out before they'd looked at it - you know what I mean! ) )
In the end I'm pretty sure I decided that I'd better use "Used" across the board so as not to confuse anybody that they were getting brand new make up.
You know what people are like for not reading the listing, or looking at the pics properly!
Get 'em on there hon. I can't think of one beauty junkie that I know who doesn't LOVE Dior!

 That's pretty much my plan as well hon.
I think quite a lot of my beauty drawer clutter comes from trying cheaper alternatives in an effort to save money - but by the time I've tried 2 or 3 that just aren't quite right I might as well have bought the one I know and love anyway!
I'm doing Ok without my Touche Eclat - although I miss it.
The Cosmetics a la Carte wotsit I've got is a worthy substitute. (I thought it was Benefit - but that's a whole other pink wandy thing!)
I'm ok finishing off cleansers and body lotions and stuff but I'm not sure that I've ever finished a blusher or eye shadow palette!
 We shall see huh?
I'm now out of lots of my favourites: St Ives Scrub, Garnier salicylic acid pads, Philosophy cleanser, Hope in a jar, Touche Eclat, (but I've got a substitute) my Lancome mascara... (haven't used anything else for years but I'm trying out some gwp ones that I had stashed.)
And I had run out of my favourite conditioner but I caved and bought some of that.
We're out of shower gel now, and we're using up the last gift set bubble bath as shower gel at the moment.
My unused stash is only half a small drawer now instead of one and a half large drawers, and the in use stuff is dwindling!
I've got 36 lipglosses though...They are never going to run out!

Which is the main thing really!
That happened to my friend with Touche Eclat as well. Yukky huh?
I daren't even go into Boots.
I go in for pantyliners and a prescription and come out having spent £50!
It's best that I don't darken their doors and send Hubby for the pantyliners and prescriptions! :rotfl:

 :hello: Cheers honey,
 I've just joined up!
I've never really bought much Clinique. I can't quite believe I'm admitting this but I think some of the packaging puts me off. (The hospital green plastic type.)
If you asked me I'd say that the packaging doesn't matter that much as long as it's solid and doesn't fall apart - but I do seem to have a preference for brands that package in black and dark blue!
Can you tell us the name of the face wash as well chick? It's miles cheaper than my usual cleanser that I've just run out of.
