A depressing realisation

When I first joined mse I decided to use up all the 'Xmas/birthday' sets we had received over the last few years. Unfortunately or though I have a ton of soaps, have discovered that my son is allergic to the real cheap gift set ones. So I am now buying soaps in, but only replace them when they are used up. My main problem is all the body/hand creams, as I never use them. Only cream I do use is Nutregina (sp??) for when my hands seriously dry out when working with clay.
Toothpastes shampoo's and conditioners are still required buy products though, but I never replaced till I have actually ran out of them.
Still have some bubble baths to use up but i have to admit i did go out and buy some radox bubbles other week. DD is getting through the bath bombs slowly, and I am using the bath salts up. From two boxes of stuff we are now down to one, so even with slip ups along the way, I know I am getting there.
Make up is a different story, I don't wear much, and only wear browns or purples anyhow. My main brown lipstick I am now digging into it with a lip brush (had this lipstick alone for about a decade) and my main purple lipstick is at about 1cm above digging stage (about same age as the brown) I do have a few lighter lipsticks that got bought for funerals and interviews, which will last me years. think in total I own about 6 lipsticks. Out of foundation now, used the last up in Oct. Have to pressed powders, one still full the other about 1/4 left, 3 blushers and the eye-shadows are in sets of 6 colour combinations, which I think there is 6 sets of. plus the two purples I bought myself. 1 grey and 1 black eye-liner, 1 just over a year old, the other bought in Oct. Dont do mascara cause every time I wore it it rained, so stopped using it years ago.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

Chev, I'd bet you all my debt it will People will buy literally anything I promise you. Just be honest in your listings, provide a good clear photo and start your listing as low as you'd let it go for (another good tip is to find out the RRP of the item on boots.com or debenhams.com and state that in your listing, it really makes people think they're getting a bargain!). OMG, I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before!
I am embarrassed to say that I have a cupbord full of toiletries 'stuff' My biggest problem is body lotions, I have loads (all half used) and I fell victim to all the Boots offers too and bought WAY more than I needed.
Unfortunately I have just discovered Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish too (QVC TSV ~ naughty girl me!:o ), plus the toner and moisturiser, so I now have some Clinique 3 step that I'm gonna try to get rid of on eBay.... do u think anyone would buy a half bottle of moisturiser plus nearly a full bottle of step 2 toner??? I've also got an unopened bottle I'm gonna put on there....
After reading all ur posts, I've decided I'm not gonna buy anything else until I have used up what is in the cupboard, and will make OH do the same (we both have a big basket each in the airing cupboard, plus bits scattered around the bedroom/bathroom.
I daren't add up how much it all costs.....
Thanks for starting the thread Buffy!

thanks scarlett. I spent over £100 on make up (gulp) just to go to my sisters wedding looking halfway decent. But if I am honest other than the lippy I doubt I will use the rest as I just don't have time with two small boys to really do anything other than get washed in the morning and put on some clothes that vaguely match!!!

Good luck selling ur make up chev, I bet the Dior stuff will go really well!

Me too! I must admit I bought some when the show was on the other day, because it was on easy pay.... but when it's not on TSV or easy pay, its cheaper to get it straight from the Liz Earle site.... hopefully I won't need to buy any for a while now, plus I've asked for som e bits on my Xmas listSquirrel29 wrote: »I love the Liz Earle range, my skin has never looked better.... Amen to that! We've all been there with our own personal weaknesses, whether it's a drawer full of no-longer-used electronic gadgets, or toiletries in the case of the OP, or whatever.0

 I bet it would honey.
I sold a couple of batches of "gently used makeup" on eBay and I was quite pleased at what they went for.
I took a big group pic and then took close up individual pics of each item and I gave a detailed description of exactly how much use each item had had. One set sold for over £50 and one for £80-something.
Obviously they cost more than that when I bought them but all the items were things I knew I wouldn't use so I was glad of whatever I got.
 Go for it hon!
(and I'll try really hard not to buy it - Dior is my weakness - Ok one of my weaknesses!)
