I hate going to those Virgin Vie parties, the stuff is so expensive.. even an eyeliner is a tenner but like you say Jacks, you feel obliged to buy something!

 I know honey - and so much of the quality is "a bit patchy" at best!

I tried some of their nail varnishes and I was actually shocked at how poo they were.

The one I went to before this the hostess had £300 commission to spend based on what we'd bought, plus the demonstrator must have had her cut as well so how much are those £10 eyeliners actually worth really????

If the eye shadow palette I bought is poo quality I am determined to give it back and treat myself to a MAC shadow instead!

how's this for bad, two get this TWO Januaries ago i joined the use it up challenge on here, the only things i have bought since that date are talc, deodrant and razor blades. In fact last month i bought my first toothpaste in almost 2 years. Looks like i'll still have a way to go before i need to buy shower gel shampoo or conditioner and i use the latter as a replacement for saving foam!

Ps i don't smell and am clean and brush my teeth! lol

 :DBlimey honey. You must have had quite a stash! It's cool not having to buy any of this stuff for a while though - and I get quite a kick from using things up.

I'm getting to the point where I might to have to buy stuff.

My drawer is almost empty and the shelf of things in use has space on it.

How much is that Touche stuff Jacks? It's YSL isn't it?

It's about £22 hon. It'll last me a whole year though.

It's one of my staples that I use routinely without even thinking (with my eyes still shut if it's early in the morning!)

But I'm trying to do without it...

    For a while at least...

    Cheers honey! :D

    OUCH!

But I do concede that "I miss body scrub" is one of the more ridiculous things I've ever said on here. :o

I've managed to get it for YSL touche eclat for £14.95 online. I think it was from buycosmetics.com. May have been a special offer though.

I might have a look at that site then Sue.

I do worry that it might be old stock - and because I know that I'll use the same one for over a year I might be uneasy about that.

But I s'pose I'm just as likely to get an old one at a counter at full price....

I'm trying to do without it for a while but I'll just have a look... .;) :o

    Cheers hon,

What a relief to find others with the same problem. My friend thought I was a total freak when we counted up that I had 150 nail varnishes (but only 2 duplicates) - and that was probably the smallest of my cosmetic stash. Now I have a small bag of favourites that I use for going out, and, unfortunately for my work colleagues, a wooden set of drawers full of the rest of the carp that I am slowly working through - including free samples. I cringe at the thought of some of the colour combinations I must have gone out in, but the light in the bedroom isn't very good so I can't tell all that well what I look like when I put it on!

My only gripe - I had to bin my touche eclat, whilst it admirably covered the dark circles, it also brought me out in an allergic reaction. The only makeup I have every had a bad reaction to, bummer!

 You're in good company here honeybun - believe me!

:rotfl: At the random colour combinations! :rotfl:

I've got a lot of nail polish even though I only really paint my toenails once a month and my finger nails once in a blue moon for a really special occasion.

(The whole doing nothing while waiting for them to dry thing makes me crazy!)

But that means I don't even use all my colours once a year!

I'm really hankering after a dark blue one - but I don't need it so I have resisted so far in the hope I get some kind of voucher for Christmas that I can use.

I too am a total beauty buff and used to spends oodles on expensive make up ranges.

Then I joined an American-based makeup review website and got switched on to some cheaper products that do the job as well as if not better.

I also used to be an advertiser's dream, snapping up new products even if I had plenty of my previous fave left.

Now I have my favourites and work through then until they're gone.

I buy a lot of makeup brands from US ebay as with the dollar being the way it is it still saves cash even with postage.

Even so I still need to cut back on my makeup urges, so if anyone wants to reduce their stash by sending me some bits and pieces then feel free, lol!

:D :hello: What's the name of the website honey?

I could do with getting clued up about cheaper alternatives as the ones I've tried in an attempt to cut down have never been a patch on the originals. :(

:o You just found one of my secret vices LOL

I am a sucker for BOGOFs on toiletries etc too. I have a big tub of shower gels etc which I am using up fortunately my make up preference is number 7 not a more expensive brand and I do take advantage of the deals on foundation and mascara as I use both most days.

Don't mention the cleaning cupboard which is similarly over stashed :o

    Hey all,
I am so glad I don't buy make-up, I don't know what to do with it and end up looking like a prat! It's all so expensive too!

My friend stayed at mine for a couple of weeks, while she was between homes, and I was amazed at the sheer amount of lotions and potions and make-up that was suddenly spread around my bathroom!

The only thing I buy, apart from the usual shampoo etc, is Lynx shower gel as I love the smell of Lynx.

:hello: My son loves his Lynx hon - and it gives "the nannies" something to buy him fro Christmas and birthdays besides socks huh?

I am like your friend I'm afraid. I have loads of stuff on the go! My girlie mates are always taking the mick out of me if we go away for a weekend as I have more cosmetics than clothes usually.

(when I pack for the trip I don't know what colour lippie I'll feel like wearing on the Saturday night, and whether my skin will be feeling dry or oily- or if I'll get a spot!)

    I know - I'm hopeless! :D
