  • Morning all :coffee:
I've woken up feeling a bit down today and I'm not sure why. It could be any number of reasons I suppose - I've had a rotten night downstairs on the sofa. DD has a friend staying over and they were keeping ds awake with chatting so he went in with dh and I came downstairs to the old faithful sofa. I had to go and speak to dd at 3am because I could still hear them giggling and gossiping. DD then came down at 5am moaning that naughty tortie had been sick in her room, so bed change required. I've dozed on and off since then but not well rested.
Plus I'm a bit bothered that I still haven't heard anything at all back about this job. I presume that if I'd gotten it I would know by now (teaching jobs let you know on the day of the interview) but not hearing anything at all is a pain. Ah well. I had nothing to lose except a day of my time and it's over and done now - no point dwelling.
Went to bestie's house yesterday as planned, which was lovely. I love just sitting and catching up with her because I can be myself, put my feet up and do exactly as I would do at home. We missed the worst of Doris - apparently the eye went right over us so the worst we got was really heavy rain and gusty winds. Got in the car to head home and the orange tyre pressure light was on, so I went to Mr S for free air. One of my tyres was at a third of the pressure it should have been so I'm starting to suspect I may have a slow puncture. That will be more expense right at the end of the month when I can't afford it if I need new tyres. I'm dreading going out to look this morning but crossing my fingers that it's held its pressure overnight.
So, today is the last day of the hols and the only day where I have literally nothing at all planned. Rather typical that I am skint and in a grump as well. I haven't done any of my annoying jobs and I still need to do my marking as well. I think at the moment though I just need my cuppa and a bit of time to pull myself around and see if I can shake this mood. Then I'll think about getting on and doing something.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Hope your day picked up. I'd be tired after the night you had as well.

  • Morning all :D :coffee:
Had a bit of a lie in this morning after not getting a nap yesterday in the end. I just didn't bother with anything much... dd had her friend round all day so other than feeding them I just sat on my bum watching tv and crocheting. It was nice, but I still feel a bit down that the hols are over and I don't feel anywhere near ready for going back to work. I'm just not rested. Boo hiss. On the positive side I am making lots of progress with my various crochet projects though.
Did my other good deed of the day yesterday - looked after bestie's son for a couple of hours. Her mil is in hospital after a stroke, and signs are not looking that good. DS was thrilled that his friend came round unexpectedly so they were happy.
Today's plans are sparse as well. I will have to do some shopping as we're down to our last toilet roll, and I will have to nag dh to give me some money as he's now been paid whilst I'm still waiting. I also have to take ds to football training and go to tutoring later but other than that it should be fairly quiet.
Best make a start then - I'm still sitting in my pj's
  • I think it is important that feedback is given after an interview and so disappointing that you haven't heard a thing since Monday. Their loss.

Hope the rest of your weekend is a relaxing one.
  • I agree tcal - it would have been nice to get some feedback. I'm sure it will arrive sooner or later, but meantime I'm just getting on and reminding myself that I have lost nothing other than a day of my time. No big deal in the grand scheme of things.
So today seems to have flown over - I can't believe it's after 7pm already.
Took ds to football training this morning. It was outdoors and the weather was so grim that I just sat in the car for the full hour, reading a book. Mother of the year strikes again :rotfl: There was no way I was standing watching 8 year olds playing football in a gale for an hour. Not my cup of tea.
Came home and made a big chicken dinner for all of us. Plenty of leftovers for evening meal as well - thankfully the kids love chicken and mash and it means I don't have to cook again today.
Managed a tiny bit of crochet before I went tutoring. Was unexpectedly asked to stay for 2 hours rather than the usual 1, which was lovely because I doubled my money. Hoping I can hang onto the 'double' bit I wasn't expecting. That will depend on all appliances working as planned and no cats getting sick though.
Spent some of my tutoring money at Mr T on the way home - we now have 18 toilet rolls, and I bought a couple of ys items for lunches next week at work. Got home and I'm in my pj's getting ready to watch rubbish telly with some crochet. I certainly feel better than I did this morning but I do wish I had another week off school. As if 13 weeks a year isn't enough, eh?
  • I'm so glad I wasn't a soccer mum !

18 toilet rolls - you hoarder :rotfl: Then again maybe not - I go through them - well not me personally... the family :rotfl:

I dont know what it is - I think they wrap half the toilet paper around their hands :rotfl:

I think it's so rude and unprofessional that they haven't fed back yet!

  • Morning :coffee:
TCAL - my mother and my sister have whole cupboards full of toilet roll, and my sister was in a panic last week because she was down to her last 35 toilet rolls and her hubby wants her to stop buying them as they're moving house soon. :rotfl:
Bob - I do wish that I'd thought to ask when I could expect to hear something after the interview. I stupidly presumed that it would be within a couple of days. As I say though, no point dwelling - they'll be in touch sooner or later and the feedback will be useful.
So, ds slept out at his friends last night and it's mighty quiet here this morning without him. I'm just on cuppa number 2 and am about to get on with a couple of annoying jobs from the list that I need to do. Nothing major, but I'm in a bit of a stress about going back to work tomorrow and I have lots of bits I want to sort out, including a massive pile of clean washing to sort out and get put away, hoovering, meal planning and prep, paying for kids lunches etc. I'm going to do a bit of the rubbish jobs then some crochet, then more rubbish etc.
Off to visit my mam later for a catch up and a free feed, which will be lovely as always.
I'll be back later - I'm going to get on while I can be bothered.
  • So, I'm on top of Mount Everest of washing again, but probably only until tomorrow to be fair. I've also hoovered right through the house and meal planned and prepped for the week ahead. The kids lunch money is sorted and dh has transferred some money to my bank account so things are dropping into place ready for the big return to work tomorrow. Just need to get us all bathed or showered and sort clothes and bags out.
Was lovely catching up with my mam - she made burgers and chips for lunch which was absolutely lush. Always nice to see her just for a gossip and time out from home life. Did some crocheting and shared ideas on that front, and I moaned about not hearing re the interview yet. My stepdad says his place is exactly the same - leaves people waiting a fortnight or more to hear. I was quite surprised by this because as I've already said, you find out same day in teaching...
Just remembered ds has swimming tomorrow and I haven't seen his kit. Maybe there is more washing to be done yet...

I think they may take up references and things before letting the candidates know who got the job.
I hope you hear from them soon!
