I'm really sorry you are so wound up Cat. No point saying try to relax. The thing is I bet you will perform really well once you get into the room.

If I say "stage fright" it won't make it any easier to cope with, but it's a very common thing and supposed to give sufferers an edge when the performance takes place. For years I didn't realise this and frequently dropped out of things I would have enjoyed doing. By the time I did understand it I was probably too old. Don't miss out on your chances because it's frightening
  • Morning :coffee:
I slept way better than I thought I would last night - but I think that's all down to physical exhaustion. I had a hard training session yesterday and I'm aching all over this morning. Still, at least I am rested today.
I feel less stressed out than I was yesterday but tomorrow is obviously weighing quite heavily on my mind. I have done lots of practise, and come up with lots of scenarios so I think I'm as prepared as I can be. I just need to look into getting some bus times and packing my bag up for the day. The kids are going to stay at my mams tonight so I'm hoping for a relaxing evening and early night because tomorrow will be a long day.
I have a massive list of annoying jobs to do today. Washing, hoover, cleaning, bag packing, sorting stuff out. What I've decided to do (once I'm finished here) is to set my timer for 20 minutes to watch tv/crochet then do one annoying job. Then another 20 minutes, then another annoying job and so on. I'm really hoping that will work because I'm starting to feel a bit lazy, and I keep using the fact that it's half term to do nothing.
At least the sun is out - I've actually opened the back door into the garden so that the kids and cats can come and go as they please. It makes a lot of difference to the mood for sure.
Right. Annoying job 1 is to brush the cats. So I'm going to make a start.
  • Crazy Cat Lady,

I read your diary all the time, although I mostly lurk behind the scenes!

I think I must have missed the interview news? Is this for a new teaching job?

I will be thinking of you and wish you well!

  • Hi alipops - thanks for delurking :D
The interview is for a second job - on top of the teaching. It's with the exam board that I do the marking for in the summer; they are looking for senior examiners so I applied thinking I wouldn't get anywhere but they want to interview me.
I've kept busy all day, mainly with my latest crochet project properly chewing me off because I made a mistake in it which led me to basically pulling it to bits and starting again. It's kept me well distracted. I've also had a word with myself to try and look at tomorrow from an alternative perspective - I have nothing to lose as far as work is concerned. Just go in there, give them the facts and hope that I'm what they're looking for. And remember all of the fantastic advice various people have given me. If it's right for me then I'll get offered it.
The kids have gone to my mam's for the night. DH and I are having a quiet night in front of the telly and I'm going to try and go up to bed fairly early and hope for a good night's sleep.
I've gotten through a good proportion of annoying jobs, although I have managed to avoid mopping the kitchen floor. That will still be there for me tomorrow.
  • Thanks Kirsty - we posted at the same time. Nervous, but less than I was.
