Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 2 - Groundhog Day

Had a real breakthrough with ds last night. I'm settling in with him on the chair bed at night, then going to my own bed, and when he gets up I go back in with him. Well, he went to sleep as usual last night and I went into my own bed at half ten - almost straight to sleep. Next thing I knew it was 6.20 :j ds was still asleep in his bed, none of the cats had disturbed me and I'd had the best night of sleep I've had in months. I feel like it's real progress, and I feel better today than I have done in a while. I really hope that it continues... Fingers crossed.
I had planned food, plus nsd, plus housework and not a lot else and everything almost went to plan. I worked really hard all day at work and got a lot done which is pretty good. Then I had to take naughty tortie to the vet for a check up on her cystitis. I had thought it would be a free check but it cost £30. Worse than that, her bladder was empty so they couldn't test her, and she's lost more weight so she needs to go back in a week for another check (wish they had the eyeroll smilie still) Ah well - that's part of being a responsible pet owner isn't it?
Got home - it's freezing. Did the housework and prepped lunches for tomorrow and am just snuggling with the other (less expensive) naughty tortie on the sofa. I'm just about to relax with a bit of crochet before ds and I go and settle for the night. Not giving up

Hey CCL.
Glad you had a good night sleep and hopefully the same applies to last night. Always feel better after a good nights kip.0 -
I'm tentatively hoping that we've had a bit of a breakthrough on the sleep front. DS went straight through again last night, which is brilliant. Unfortunately I woke up for the loo at 4am and struggled to get back over. It must have been cold last night because our heating was on when I got up and its only programmed to come on during the night if the temperature in the house gets below 7. Brrrr.
Still another week for me before half term. I'm tired, but not as exhausted as I have been in the past at this time in the school year. I'm not ahead, but I'm also not too far behind. The new Head has really made such a positive difference to the place already.
I've spent a bit of time with the kids this evening talking about meal planning and hopefully saving money. I've promised them that if we can save £100 a month on food then I will take them to Alt0n T0wers in May half term. They are both well up for that in spite of being fussy eaters. Thanks to lovely Foxgloves on the small things thread I'm more motivated than ever to get them on board, reduce my food waste and save some money. I'm going to meal plan the week ahead and go shopping tomorrow while the boys are at football. Fingers firmly crossed that we do ok. I've only spent £36 this month so far on groceries so tomorrow would normally be quite a big shop. I'd reckon at least £100 - so anything less than that will be a bonus as far as I'm concerned. Trouble is that both of my kids are horrendously fussy eaters so finding something we can all enjoy is actually hard work. But I am determined to try at least.
That's my main mse thing at the moment - everything else is just plodding along as usual - although I am expecting a huge energy bill thanks to heating requirements at the moment.
I'm quite tired tonight so I'll report in properly tomorrow. Not giving up

So what kinds of food dislikes do they each have? I'm just curious." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I've been lurking and reading the everyday story of CCL's family. I do hope the naughty tortie is well soon, and that ds gets his problems sorted. You've hardly mentioned DD this term, how is she doing at secondary school?0

Morning :coffee:
DD is doing brilliantly at big school Sidsmum. She's grown up so much since she started there, and typical teenage behaviour is starting to creep in. She likes to go shopping with me or her friends, has more makeup than I could use in a lifetime, and a big wedge of attitude to go with it all. I'm incredibly proud of her because even though she is teenager-ish, she's brilliant. We don't see much of each other because she lives in her room, with the naughty tortie, smart tv and her phone. I can't believe how quickly she's growing up into a beautiful young lady.
As for food the kids won't eat Bob - easier to say what they will eat... DD loves bland, carbohydrate based food. Pasta, bread, cereal etc. She's big into mushrooms as well quite randomly. Doesn't like sauces much. DS hates most vegetable based food and would be really happy to live the rest of his life on chicken nuggets and chips. And apricot yoghurt. The meals that they have agreed on so far between the two of them are, roast dinner, Chinese chicken curry, home made pizza and jacket potatoes (he will have beans and cheese, she will have ham). They both like chicken, pork, sausages, hot dogs (but I hate hot dogs). The issue comes with the flavouring of the food. DD doesn't like much in the way of sauces, ds doesn't like veggies, neither of them like a lot of spice. Still, small steps. We've put a bit of a shopping list together and a bit of a plan for the week ahead (which is more of a plan than we've had in the past) so we shall see.
Another night straight through with ds :j I woke up just after 5am and was very restless for a couple of hours, but it feels much better with a good night before it. He has said that he would like to try on his own tonight, so the plan is that I will go in his room with him and watch tv for an hour, then he will go to sleep on his own. We'll see if that works but we've made real progress over the past few days.
I was up and out at 7 for my training session - it's freezing cold and very miserable out there today. I kind of wish that I didn't have to go back out for tutoring later but I do... Need the money and I genuinely enjoy doing it. I feel ok but my mind seems to be working overtime against me at the moment. I know that I'm a worrier but it would be nice if these stupid thoughts didn't even enter my head in the first place. It's exhausting. I worry that everything is going 'too well' when I don't have some crisis ongoing - I know it's ridiculous but that's what my brain does. I'm doing all my CBT stuff but I am worrying (see what I mean?) that this might be as good as it gets. Meh.
I must get on with crochet this weekend - I have big projects building up and a few friends with babies due imminently that I need to get things sent off for. Good job I love it so muchAnd my cousin has let slip to me that Ald1 have wool on offer at the moment so I can see my stash growing as well...

I'm well impressed CCL that you get up and go training on a Saturday morning especially when its freezing!
I did wake early today, thought I'd do some yoga but my cat would not let me which was just the excuse I needed to go back to bed
Hope sleep is good for you DS and yourself tonight and I think its great you have the kids on board for saving money via meal planning so that you can enjoy a family trip.. I wish I'd have thought of that years ago - its a good idea :T
Enjoy the rest of your weekend0 -
Spendy day alert
DD decided that she would like to come with me to my tutoring session this afternoon because she wanted to hit the shops to buy something for her boyfriend () for Valentines. So we did the tutoring and then went to the shops while we waited for the boys to come back from football. It was very cute watching her picking out a big teddy bear to give to him. We had a good natter and catch up and when the boys caught up with us (after Sunderland's latest disastrous effort at football) we all went to Mr T to put next week's meal plan into action. We spent just shy of £80 and I think that there's more than enough to last for a good chunk of the rest of the month. Fingers crossed.
Also went to Aldee and increased my wool stash completely unnecessarily. Ah well. Can't bypass a bargain like that. I might even be back for more if I completely lose control.
Now just chilling in my fluffy jammies with a cuppa before I go upstairs for tv with ds.Not giving up

So they will eat quite a lot then between them which is good! I was wondering with my catering hat on whether you could almost do a buffet style meal for them, that way they can mix and match what they want to eat and leftovers could be used up in your own meals. Anyway you sound like you've got it under control" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
