I called to cancel and was offered 50% off Tv OR, 50% off broadband. I asked for both, she said no so I told her to go through with the cancellation.

Should I keep checking my sky offers to see if anything else comes up?
  • So I settled on a 50% offer, plus a few extras. Now paying £74/month for full Family TV package, inc Movies and Sports HD on a 31 day contract, 1x multiroom, line rental, unlimited broadband + £50 credit.

I was previously paying £84, or £120 at full price, so happy with that.

Yes, that is the deal i got last month. I am on my 7th year in a row of half price sky tv.

I now am getting offered skyq at half price on a new 12 month contract. However they are wanting £149 for installing 2 of those tiny boxes.

Wont be paying for that, and the equipment is leased to try and scare you into not cancelling year on year

I will take the plunge when i get free installation and half price and i will still cancel every 12 months.....

...thats interesting..you are the first person that I've seen, reporting an offer on SkyQ -I know they have offered cheaper installs but monthly fees.....
Would put me off with Sky moving to the "leased" model tho' as it wouldn't be interchangeable with the "old" SkyHD box.

If you upgrade to sky q all my 50 per cent discounts on TV, hd and multiscreen are being carried forward for a new 12 month period.

My latest half price deal runs to June 17 so I will wait till then unless free installation is on the table.

I have just been on live chat with Sky as I'm currently paying £38 a month for the Box Sets package, which is almost double what it was when I signed up. They initial offered me £30.60 and said the only way to reduce it further (to just under 26 quid) would be to drop the box sets part of the package. I called their bluff and asked to cancel, starting the 31 day notice period and was told my last day would be 17th September....

Before I had even finished the live chat I had a 50% off to stay with us offer on the MySky homepage. Job done, have just signed back up for 12 months :D
Top Wins - £1,900 ITV Real Deal, titanium bike frame, 55" TV & 12m Sky Q, signed guitar, 7 night eco break, 100 iTunes credits, Blu-ray player, PS4, TV/blu-ray player/speakers/PS3, Bike Lock, tix to Marc Almond, Bon Jovi, Charlatans, PiL & backstage with Peter Hook & Howard Marks

If you ask to cancel then accept their offer, does the new contract mean your Sky+ box etc are covered for any repairs
    for the next 12 months?

No. The box is only under warranty for 12 months from the date you were given it.

Any repairs/replacements of box , dish or wiring have to be paid for unless you can haggle a deal by asking to leave, but as this contract would be new, there would be no leverage.
  • I phones sky the other day to cancel my contract. I managed to cancel my TV package but I was informed not to cancel the line rental and broadband as this would put an 'account ceased' block on my account and that new providers would not be able to switch with this in place. Is this true or are they pulling a fast one?
