  • I read on this site that if you paid for your Low Cost Holiday with Pay Pal, you will get a refund under their buyer protection. So why was my claim rejected straight away??
The money came from my Nationwide account and I reported things to them. They have at least sent me a claim form, so I am hopeful of getting somewhere there.
How can Pay Pal just reject my claim out of hand, without at least looking into it??
  • When did you actually pay for ur holiday. PayPal buyer protection on only child for 180 days so if you paid more than 180 days ur claim would be rejected

I raised claim as paid via nationwide debit card. I provided evidence of booking and non payment to hotel and recieved the money in my account. :o

Is this the final decision? Can it be appealed?

I wonder did you ask for a claim with your bank first? ,it may of flagged up on their system dual claim but still dont see why they would dismiss without a explanation ?

After complaiming to Halifax about them not processing my claim properly, they gave me 75 quid. Still waiting on news about the actual claim though. This was over a week ago.

    FAO Joules1508 (and others too).

I too raised a section 75 claim with MBNA over the phone (perhaps not the best way of doing it) and was told they need to check with the travel agent initially. (They are ATOL protected and a member of ABTA so I should have a claim against them for costs and the disappointment/stress of a spoiled holiday as they did not resolve the issue for me so have raised separate complaint with them that has at least been acknowledged)

Perhaps I need to follow up with a letter or online communication to MBNA as there has been absolutely no feedback yet! It does seem in my opinion based upon this experience MBNA are NOT ONE OF THE BETER CREDIT CARD BANKS so I AM SHOUTING THIS FROM THE ROOFTOPS!

    Any joy yet Jules?
  • We've recently returned from our holiday. LCH went under about a week before we went. Before we went we ended up having to rebook our hotel and pay an additional £900 for the same hotel room (same dates etc..). We had made the original payment to LCH through a credit card. I am trying to claim this additional cost back (as well as the original hotel payment) through our credit card. Money Advice Service for example says you are covered for 'Additional expenses or consequential loss so you're not limited to claiming the cost of the item. Has anyone else tried to claim back for additional costs incurred, and has anyone been successful?

I would download the template letter from MSE for section 75 and send it in as insurance then it is in writing with Mbna ,as with regards the claim they look to be on a par with PayPal for slow results :(
  • Santander have refunded my hotel and transfer costs today under chargeback, the day after I got back from the holiday.
£2,273.36 now back in my account. :j
