The Police would have no interest, with respect, they do not have the finances to catch many crimes (that are real), what interest would they have in a lady taking her dad out for the day, popping into Asda, parking in a disabled bay then her dad did a walkabout because he is ill, should I complain to the police because I think someone stole a newt from my garden pond ?

yes, because the police are duty bound to investigate a criminal offence and newts are protected

    http://content.met.police.uk/Article/Great-Crested-Newt/1400033591321/1400033591321

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/great-crested-newts-protection-surveys-and-licences

    http://www.ohes.co.uk/newt-surveys.php

so although this is getting silly due to pedantry, the fact is that if something is a criminal offence and is reported they are duty bound BY LAW to issue a crime number and investigate it

they can AND DO investigate misuse of the BB and there have been many tv programmes showing them doing it, usually in conjunction with the social services and council officers

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/transport/driving-and-parking/driving-and-parking-for-disabled-people/the-blue-badge-scheme/misuse-of-blue-badges/

East Sussex County Council, Brighton & Hove City Council and Sussex Police are working together to tackle Blue Badge Misuse

Funding has been awarded to employ dedicated Blue Badge Investigators and action days with Sussex Police.
I only answered because another respondent brought it up (castle) but your mockery does not change the fact that it is a criminal offence , as is the newt reference you thought was so funny

you may not take it seriously, but it is serious and has serious consequences, be it stealing eagles eggs, newt stealing or misuse of a blue badge

    http://www.londoncouncils.gov.uk/services/parking-services/parking-and-traffic/parking-information-professionals/tackling-blue-badge
    • Misuse of genuine badges. This means using the badge when the holder is not present. Some people who fall into this category think (wrongly) that what they are doing is not fraudulent. A few will have failed to understand the restrictions on use, but most will chance their luck on the basis that it can be hard to prove. Either way, this is still a criminal offence; it can lead to prosecution and a criminal conviction.
I expect the police would report it to the issuing council and recommend prosecution, so would think a judge might do the same

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35408558

but if you are going to start being silly about it, then I wont bother replying to your silliness, just to serious questions, which I have done all day including in this thread and not been mocked by anyone else (because they have more sense and act as grown ups should)

Forget the police, forget the newts (a joke on newts ... missed ) , Dementia is not silly and the OP is in my opinion .. correct

That is my opinion you have yours. Does not mean you are right or wrong, does not mean I am right or wrong either

I will keep saying that the PPC and the judge in the OP's case are out of order which is disgusting

Not sure why you have introduced the police in this, they will have no interest whatsoever and you could scare the OP , not what we want is it ?

because they can and do get involved and I have added the evidence of this in my previous reply , plus it is also mentioned in the blue booklet as I said earlier (the booklet the OP should have read and followed)

    https://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/content/parking-and-travel/parking/report-blue-badge-fraud-or-misuse-0

plus I have personally had my BB checked on private land by the police on more than one occasion, so have experience of it happening

my point is that they asked if they should appeal it

my advice is no , cut and run before you make things worse for yourself and thank your lucky stars that paying the judgment settles the matter

you made a mistake and paid the price , the reasons why have already been made abundantly clear

the dementia is a side issue and not what the judge has ruled on

the OP has no protected characteristics under the EA2010 so has no right to park there in the manner they described , the EA2010 was not broken but the intention they used in parking was admitted in their appeal and in court as well and not allowed

this happens on a daily basis and people are not caught, but this time a person was caught and needs to stop digging before the sides collapse

a bit like 10 drivers talking on a mobile phone on a public road and only one person being caught , the luck of the draw, but doesnt change the fact that its not allowed and you will be punished if you are caught (if they managed to catch and prosecute everyone doing it, it would soon stop)

Come on ... this is not a police matter, this is not fraud, this is not an offence .. it's so trivial that a kid could deal with it

alll the evidence I have linked indicates that the police can and do take it seriously, it is a criminal offence to misuse the Blue Badge and it says so quite clearly in the government booklet and on their dot gov website as well as various council websites including London Councils (who administered the popla scheme)

here is an example of how my local council had a crackdown a few years ago when my mum was ill and were also checking badges at the local hospital (nhs trust , private property) where they have a 24 hour presence

    http://www.tameside.gov.uk/mostpeople/bluebadge
Teams have been out and about across the borough in a joint operation involving the police and officers from the authority’s patroller, environmental and parking services. Mobile phones and radios have enabled officers to check the authenticity of badges and the operation has been backed up by CCTV.
and this fool was caught , arrested and prosecuted

    http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/cheat-used-mums-blue-badge-911720

how clear do you want it ?

I know it's late but how can you say that this OP has committed a criminal offence ... she has a valid BB ?
You need to explain why you think she has committed a crime ?

the OP does not have a valid Blue Badge

I dont have to explain anything at all, the blue booklet explains it and says so on page 7

you said I was wrong regarding the fact that the matter could be reported to the police , yet the evidence I have linked and shown proves otherwise

this OP has asked questions and I have given advice that this OP should take onboard , which I am entitled to do under the forum rules and there is nothing to stop me bringing up any issue I think is relevant , especially as I have had a BB much longer than you or your relatives and greater experience of these matters than most people on here (except CM of course)

when you wish to be sensible about this then maybe I will reply, but right now you are being silly and childish, as coupon mad correctly pointed out

the saying around here is , act your age , not your shoe size
