Would you be offering this to residential customers in the future? P.s. i've never had any problems with talktalk phone or broadband, been with them for several months now and am very happy.. I'm probably just one of the lucky ones (for now that is)...

    Hello,

I can assure you your not a "lucky one" as many of our customer have a working service however you only really hear from customers with problems :cheesy:

To answer your question, providing a fixed IP to a residential customer is not something that we are planning to do anytime in the near future "Sorry"

    Hope this helps
    Stephen :hello:

  • PHONE LINE SLAMMING FROM TALK TALK - those lovely people at TALK TALK- whose appaling customer service (cutting off your call is a popular tactic!) and lousy broadband service (which is advertised as FREE AND SIMPLE but involves numerous modems and a 'geek squad' charge to activate) - added insult to injury over the Xmas period by trying to 'slam' another of my phone lines, which I never asked for .....

 (slamming = STEALING!!!! Why is this appaling practice being allowed"???!!!!)

When I rang them to cancel everything on Xmas Eve I was asked to be patient as there was a large queue for cancellations!!!! NOT SURPRISED!

I BEG people NEVER to use these providers!! They have been nothing but trouble...
  • I've had horrific problems with TalkTalk. It worked OK for several months but at the end of November I lost my internet connection, this didn't return until last Friday 11th Jan after many hours spent talking to TalkTalk employee's who never called back when they said they would, or responded to special delivery letters. And they all asked me the same questions. I now have intermittant connection which this morning was running at less than 0.3m, we're only 1.1 miles from the exchange. I'll be moving from TalkTalk asap and could never recommend them to anyone.
  • I switched to Talk Talk and saved my AOL fee and it's AOL anyway great.
I never canceled my account with AOL untill I was setup with Talk Talk then rang and canceled, googled AOL free mail and setup a new account with my old email address, this saves alot of work letting your bank, friends, clubs, and what not a new address.
I have setup a free Windows Live account as well as backup and I do like useing this.
Phone service been very good to.
    Get on with it.

It's about time Martin Lewis got some sort of honnour for this service he gives for the poor old consumer. I would not mind calling him Sir PMSL

I think you may not be aware of the meaning of the word 'slamming' in this context.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Hi there

Commiserations to all the posters who've had problems with Talktalk. Here's my story..

My property cannot get broadband because, although fairly recently built, at the time copper was expensive, another metal was used and the signal is too weak as a result.

In June 2007 a talktalk salesman assured me it would be possible and I agreed to sign up. Four weeks later and after 4-8 hours on the phone plus a half-day off work for an engineer visit I had had enough. "Get together sooner or later, because the revolution's here"? It just made me hate them even more. No continuity of care, strict scripting from people who couldn't have understood the problem even if english had been their first language, and, crucially, no account notes...every time you ring them you are starting from scratch. I will never, ever, forgive them for the stress they have caused me as a customer, reducing me to tears of rage and thoughts of violence on several occasions.

When I asked for a return address (postage paid) for the modem, "modem returns" repeatedly told me I would have to pay for it as I'd had it more than a week. Another wrote me a letter, but no freepost address, and so I requested again and again.

By September I was getting debt collection letters every fortnight and calls twice a week. By late October, following hours more frustration on the 'phone, I finally got a freepost address. Off the modem went. But the letters kept coming. More emails through November and December, no response to some and to others advice that I should call modem returns; thus Talktalk completes its circle of madness.

(Having sent the modem back I ranted at my sister only to discover that for the previous four weeks she had been ranting at them to send a wireless router they had promised her. How we laughed!)

Come January the letters were getting more threatening. All communication was either not replied or not read properly and stock answers were given. A google search for "Talktalk CEO email" brought up a (BBC?) feedback site, and on Friday last week I emailed a brief account with the postscript that (unless I heard from them) I would be leafletting outside the local Carphone Warehouse and inviting the press to "do a piece".

Within 8 hours I was called back and now, apparently, the whole thing is sorted.

Well it's not bloody well sorted as far as I'm concerned.

"many of our customer (sic) have a working service"

Oh good, so that's alright. But woe betide any customers for whom you have to do more than just print bills and take money.

BTW, has anyone on this site tried a similar negative publicity campaign outside branches?

    Stan

    PS I have a t-mobile webnwalk package now!:T
