TalkTalk Customer Poll

PHONE LINE SLAMMING FROM TALK TALK - those lovely people at TALK TALK- whose appaling customer service (cutting off your call is a popular tactic!) and lousy broadband service (which is advertised as FREE AND SIMPLE but involves numerous modems and a 'geek squad' charge to activate) - added insult to injury over the Xmas period by trying to 'slam' another of my phone lines, which I never asked for .....
 (slamming = STEALING!!!! Why is this appaling practice being allowed"???!!!!)
When I rang them to cancel everything on Xmas Eve I was asked to be patient as there was a large queue for cancellations!!!! NOT SURPRISED!
I BEG people NEVER to use these providers!! They have been nothing but trouble...
Hi Trish,
Did you resolve this issue ?0 -
Martin, if you would just pause a moment to read the adverse comments you would realise that cheapest is not bestest.
The TalkTalk set up routine is a mess. It demands 200MB space on your C:/ drive and cannot be changed. Actually all you need is about 40MB for the modem drivers, which customer service will tell you to download and install when you have a problem, and you will have a problem. It insists on using IE and Outlook Express, probably the worst for bugs, viruses and hacks. At one point the set up actually contradicts the Microsoft advice on Outlook Express.
Just lately they have teamed up with AOL, probably the worst service provider prior to TalkTalk. AOL are only interested in streaming adverts to you. Consequently the bandwidth is over loaded with picture ads. You can't log on; you can't get your e-mail; you get the ads though. All this crap about 8MB, forget it. You'll be lucky to get 2MB.
There is a golden opportunity here for somebody to offer a reasonably priced service. Who will grab it a mop up all the thoroughly brassed off TalkTalk customers?0 -
I hear BT are bringing out a ADSL2,
Sounds like it could be faster:DNo Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
The cost stated in the forums is out of date, it is slightly more and a connection charge for daytime calls of 6 pence has not been seen by me anywhere.:mad:0

Welcome to MSE Forums.
Its not clear what call charges you think are wrong. All their latest charges can be found here, where it also mentions their 6p call connection charge for chargeable calls.

I was with talk talk for a long time, round about 2004 i think. Then applied for the free broadband as soon as it came out. After lots and lots of connection problems and about £30 pound spent on broudband support trying to sort it out.....the usual "ill phone you back tommorow...staying in all day and nobody ringing.....lots of times....it eventually settled into a reasonable internet service......then I tried to leave.....omg.....£70 disconection fee from contract...they put me on a higher speed connection without any documentation, consultation and without me agreeing. Declined the offer of allowing me to have access to the recorded conversation where I apparently agreed to a further 18mth contract...even though I had phoned at that time to cancel so why oh why would i extend my contract?!? I eventually......after talking to numerous customer service (HA) people said that I would pay the £70 just to get talk talk out of my life.... Then they said the cancellation was already going through, although I had never previously agreed to this! What a joke!!!!
Not free internet....It will cost you big time in mood and mental state and cash! !!!! Avoid TALK TALK at all cost!

hello all, I just joined talk talk and my feeling like most is that customer service are not as good as they should be. I have some questions for all current talk talk cumstomers. FYI I am on the "Talk International evening and Weekend tariff"
1) Is there a connection fee for the local and national uk calls in the evenings?
2) there are 36 international countries listed unlimited anytime, do they have a connection charge also?
3) I am assuming these calls are only free for 70 minutes, have I got this right?
4) I read somewhere, talk talk customers phoning other talk talk customers are free 24/7. Customer services said it only free for 70 minutes, but someone tald me these calls are free up to 3 hours?
5) Lastly I have a relative who pays there line rental to BT and has talk talk calls, is that considered a talk talk customer or a BT customer?
I put most of these questions to customer services, but dont fel confident they the know the answers.
PS please dont forward talk talk infromation
ThanksTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
1-N0
2-No
3-Free 24/7 but onlt to the countries they list. eg NOT Dubai, etc
4-Free 24/7
5 When you join TT, you trasnsfer your BT line rental over to Tt and your bil to TT includes everything.
Hope this helps.
Don't hold your breath over Customer Service though--- it's still a bad joke.0 -
Switched from BT to Talk Talk for landline and have never had any problems. When something did arise I spoke to a very nice young lady, who pointed out (quite rightly) that it could be my actual phone. Had no idea they have Indian call centre. Never encountered this. Get the occassional courtesy call to see if they can interest me in anything else, and are always polite when I say no!!
Would definetely think about their Broadband once I've up dated my ancient computer which I believe was in the Ark with Noah!!Growing old disgracefully!0 -
Free Broadband for life? I recommended their original offer (which I notice they are still repeating whenever you are on hold waiting for anyone to pick up their phone) to about a dozen friends and relatives 18 months ago. Since then, we are still paying £10 a month for Broadband on top of our telephone bill.
"Free Broadband is not yet available in your area, but we'll let you know when..." (I live near Bath, not exactly the middle of nowhere).
Several letters threatening Court action if I don't keep up payments for my "free" Broadband and still absolutely no estimate of when over the next decade or so they actually plan to introduce free Broadband.
Can I take them to Court for misleading customers? Or do you just chuck in the towel, pay them off, switch to a different service provider and let them get away with it?0
