TalkTalk Customer Poll

  • We switched over a year ago mainly for cost reasons (lots cheaper than Pipex), but also because we had intermittent problems which batted between BT and Pipex who blamed each other. The landline switched immediately but had to wait a couple of months for Broadband - they kept losing track of the order. Most annoying thing was they advised Pipex of the wrong date for transfer so we ended up without Broadband for over a week (it's amazing how much you miss it. However the setup was fairly easy and we haven't had any problem since. The speed was initially the same as Pipex - only around 500k - apparently we're at the end of a long line, but it improved a bit in January when the exchange was converted to Talktalk. Reliability has been good. I opted for the TalkTalk 3 international and actually think it's amazing for £20 per month including rental - I can call my family in Australia anytime for no extra cost. Fantastic! A few of my friends have since converted and all pleased with the service and really pleased with the amount of money they have saved. I should be on commission!
  • Joined TT when they offerd free broadband, had teething problems at the beginning, problems with phone line then with modem. Call center coudn't understand problems but eventually sorted. Saving about £75 per month since I moved to them. Also since last September have had about 6.0mpbs on average
    Not bad:T

  • Since writing yesterday, Guess what? the same fault occured. I know how to get the problem sorted but the customer service staff just would not listen. The women that was spoken to yesterday had no idea what she was doing and would not put our call through to 2nd line support without having a heated argument. After speaking to her so called line manager she then gave us a telephone number for 2nd line support, which when called was not 2nd line support, but the lady on the other end, in New Delhi, sorted the problem straight away. As you can see I now have my connection back but dont know how long for. If anyone knows of a good contact name at talk talk I would love to know it.

  • I've been with TalkTalk for about 3 few months now. BB is super fast compared to my previous provider and customer services are very pleasant and helpful. I should know, I've called them a lot...

To cut a long story short, they had my address wrong and I wasn't receiving anything from them (such as welcome pack, log in and connection details, a modem driver update CD that I desperately needed having lost BB) - only the billing dept had the correct address. Go figure... anyway, seems to all be sorted now.

Only problem now with the BB is that it occasionally cuts itself off and I have to reconnect or reboot to get it back. BB went down for a whole week last month during a very critical time when I needed it the most. Hasn't happened before or since tho. Wasn't at all impressed at the time, mind...

On the whole, I've halved my monthly telecoms bills and receiving much faster BB. Despite a few niggles, I'm happy. I'm not sure I'd recommend them - when it comes to technology I'm a lot more knowledgeable, relaxed and forgiving than most - but on the whole it's an excellent package and a real bargain.
  • Have been with TT for over 12 months, Broadband connection is very intermittant, it's a case of keeping fingers crossed, I'm convinced the 'turn off' is on a timer as when it gets disconnected it's either on the hour or every quarter of the hour and reconnection is similar - as if it's our turn to be disconnected. Out of a 7 day period it will probably go off in total for around 48 hours.

Not impressed with the Broadband service but have no issues using the telephone re calls when Broadband goes down.

  • Well I joined a week ago, and wished I hadn't within 24 hours. I initially couldn't get my modem set up which was followed by the line dropping every 2 minutes - Here's some stats for you!

I spent a total of 10 hours on the phone to Talk Talk in a week (and never swore once, good heah?)

I was given 9 different reasons for things not working

I spoke to a total of 15 different people

I was cut off 5 times by Talk Talk staff
I was told it was my extension cable causing the problem

It was all resolved on day 8 when Talk Talk got a BT engineer came out and replaced my box outside the house, funny that my BT broadband worked on it the day previous to switching.

All resolved now, I must say the 2nd line support is excellent, thanks to mike and the team and I have £5 off my first 3 months bills for the trouble.:T

Still glad I moved though coz BT was costing me a small fortune
  • I tried to change Broadband from BT to Pipex and that was a nightmare 12 weeks with them both blaming the other for a problem on the line, in the end someone recommended TalkTalk, I phoned them up and within 10 days everything was sorted, up and running. The deal they gave me was for £26 a month I would get Broadband and free local and national calls anytime. But I have been charged £10 extra each month because my exchange isn't right for the free Broadband. This was not mentioned at the time of signing up and I'm now stuck in an 18 month contract which when up I will not hesitate to leave TalkTalk and move my business elsewhere. I have tried phoning them and am passed from person to person with no one being able to deal with my complaint, as far as they are concerned the £10 is there and I have to pay it. A friend of mine was offered the same deal as me for £19 a month and she has also been charged an extra £10 a month for the same reason and she like me isn't having any luck with talking to someone. The staff at TalkTalk should tell you about all the charges when speaking to you on the phone. Now they just say the website explains it all, but the thing is I didn't sign up via the website so didn't see about this charge. Not happy at all!!
  • :T A great service with very little problems, which are soon sorted by a friendly team, keep it up boys,
  • Been with talktak since the free broadband offer came along. Initially it was a nightmare, they didn't put a request in to take the tag off the phone line, so this delayed things a month. Then the internet kept going off for a few days at a time. We put this down to teething problems. It soon got much better and once aol merged with talktalk the service has been outstanding. Can't fault them now and all for £20/month.. BARGAIN :T
  • Hi - been looking for something on forums but can't find it. I have had talk talk option 3 for a while. nightmare then ok when up and running. is it possible for me to use 1899 and 18185 with these guys. it doesn't seem to work so i have to pay talktalk rates for mobiles etc. is there something i'm missing or is it just tough luck?
