We left after a very tumultous time with them, even after leaving they didn't deactivate the account and so ended up with threatening letters from the Credit Collection Company, even though we had spent hours hanging on to the phone, explaining the situation, being assured everything was now ok.

/all the previous bad feedback, we also, experienced.

If it works for someone, hurrah, a fine package but they really need to grap customer service by the throat and shake it up, employ staff that you can understand, instead of making one feel guilty as for the ulmpteenth time you say, jpardon, it's a badline, etc all because your embarassed and that you don't want the rep on the otherside to feel the same way.
  • I have just received my Talk Talk package, however i am cancelling withing the allowed 30 day period. Talk Talk does not support VPN (virtual Private Networks, although it took a number of frustrating phone calls to Talk Talk to fully establish this as no one seemed to know what they were. What it means for me is that i cant log on to my work emails or work intranet etc when working from home. The people in the call centre seemed to have very little knowledge and werent very helpful.
  • I joined up with TalkTalk in July 2006 and have had no trouble save for an ocasional droped connection. I had to wait about a month for broadband proberly due to the huge takeup of the offer.
I was watching a morning tv program when they were talking about the problems TalkTalk customers were having, loads of people phoning and emailing in complaining. I did something that I hadn't done before or since, I emailed the program saying how pleased I was with TalkTalks service. Much to my suprise, 10 minuits later they read my email out on air saying it was nice to have a positive comment. Satifiedtom.
  • I changed to Talk Talk from Virgin to get a less expensive deal, mistake, over a period of 9 months the broadband line dropped out several times per day and finally it was lost completely. After almost 3 weeks the line was restored but this lost me our landline, which when restored was someone else number. I have written to them several time, two registed letters and no-one has replied. I have now ceased my contract free of charge and have an outstanding invoice for £86.00 for service that was down for almost 8 weeks. Since moving back to BT 6 weeks ago there has been no interuptions whatsoever. Talk Talk are hopeless - don't move to them!
  • I applied in October 2006 and got my landline in two weeks. I never did get Broadband and the call centres have insensed me so much that I am actually phobic about having any contact. I cancelled in August 2007 by moving house. I cannot express how useless talktalk are and if you do think they are good then may you never have a problem.
  • Switched to TalkTalk 12 months ago. Telephone connected within 2 weeks and broadband 4 weeks.Local line subsequently unbundled and now have excellent speeds. E-Mail addresses set up thru outlook express function fine.
I have had no need to contact cust services and feel I am receiving excellent value. More or less unlimited broadband, unlimited telephone calls and message service all for just under £20 a month
  • I have been with them about 6 months now and love the fact that I can ring who I want, when I want and access the internet for free. I was on dial up previously so I got my phone and broadband switched over very quickly. However, I hadn't received my modem. After complaining (via their free number) I was sent 2 in quick succession! I have to pay £1.50 per month for caller display feature which I think is excessive as it is free with BT but as I need to screen my calls it is essential. This service is very intermittent and they don't seem to know what to do. However, I always ring up and complain and they usually credit my account with a rebate which does happen. Eventually it starts working again but not for every call. This is the part of the service I am unhappiest with. I hope they give it for free eventually as it isn't worth paying for! In fact out of the 6 months I have probably only paid for 1 month. The customer service centre is irritating as everytime they pass you to someone else you have to give them all your details again. Hope they sort their customer service centre out and bring it to the UK so people understand you properly.

The broadband suits me. Its very fast and only occasionally does it go off. In 6 months its probably only been inaccessible 3 times. However, I don't have the computer switched on all the time, only when I go on the internet. I can ring abroad for free too. Couple this with the SAYNOTO0870 (thanks to Martin again) website and I don't pay for any phone calls now! Its all included in the package.

Worth the money. I nearly didn't sign up because of the negative comments I had heard, but so glad I did. Its cheap, its functional, it does the job (mostly). I'd say go for it if you like value for money but are prepared to put up with a few hiccups.
  • Slow to get the broadband switched on, but once on have had no problems.

Line has never gone down on me, both phone and BB is good.

Customer service is awful tho, but as with most UK companies that is due to the Indian call centres and them reading off scripts.

  • Never known a company like this they cannot seem to activate my line when no one else has a problem they have said they treid 3 times but BT say there was no record of them trying to activate the line. I would stay well clear of them!
  • Their sales staff don't tell you the truth (where have you read that before?). They'll say "Cancel your present ISP's contract after 3 months!" That doesn't work, without a penalty. Then try cancelling an 18 month contract with them, after a year of complaining, because they can't or won't deliver.
They'll tell you anything about your present ISP just to get you to sign up. Once they've got you, its a different matter. They'll renew your 18 month contract if you want to make ANY changes. And if you are thinking about moving house, believe me, its cheaper and less painful to start with a new ISP.
Don't be taken in. Look at the top alternative ISPs, like Zen, Demon and Waitrose. We wish we had listened more and read more before being taken in by Talk, Talk. We thought that our experiences with the Car Phone Warehouse would be replicated, but it seems we had been lucky with their Bedford branch. You wouldn't know that CPW were the same organisation!
I can't believe how much of my family's life has been wasted on the phone or sending emails to Talk, Talk. They NEVER call you back and you'll never get to speak to the same person twice. ("We don't give out that information"). So instead we sit and wait and our complaints about crap service are repeated ad-nauseum to people who don't care.
Weekends are worst. Invariably, no broadband service or it crawls slower than dial-up. Ages to get through to Customer Service (that name's a laugh) and if its anywhere near the end of their shift, they'll answer you and immediately cut you off! If you do get through, the fault is never Talk, Talk's but must be our BT line or how our computers are set up. BT of course, tell you the opposite. The line tests fine, of course. Its the Talk, Talk servers that can't cope!
So we've been asking for a MAC code so we could go to Demon or even BT (to stop all this passing the blame), but to no avail. Talk, Talk are NOT phased by threats of OfCom or the media. They have a cheap product that "everyone wants". As a disgruntled customer, there are plenty to take your place (no pun intended). Well, take it from a family that knows - cheap is expensive!
Now the icing on the cake! After our latest call, they just cut the service. No MAC code, no apology. Then they had the nerve to threaten a Debt Enforcer for £7 they say we still owe. (We're not the first to be bullied). We think they owe us considerably more than this, but sometimes life is more important. And how do you get your credit rating put right when a company the size of Talk, Talk have sullied your reputation? I would love you to send all these negative comments to their CEO Martin, but I think he's taken his eye off the ball, too. SPP.
