Latest twist to my Currys saga.

Having thought all was going reasonably well, Egg saying I would get the 17.5% cashback in September (I've seen various different 'cashback' formulas on here, but thats what they told me on the phone) and with a delivery date of Sunday 12th confirmed via a 1/6/05 e-mail with all my products confirmed on it, I was quite happy with things.

Today however, i got a phone call, out of the blue.
Currys "we want to set a delivery date as your items are in stock"
Me "I've already got confirmation of delivery for 12/6/05"
Currys "no, the earliest we can deliver is 13/6"
Me "I've had my 3 confirmation e-mails, one of which confirmed delivery on 12/6/05" i gave her my confirmation number. "I've arranged for someone to be at the address all day to wait for the delivery"
Currys " Thats the right number, but it doesnt say 12/6 on here"

she then transferred me to another advisor. we went through the same thing.
Currys "It doesn't matter that yopu have an e-mail confirmation, thats not an actual confirmation. you have to have the date confimed by phone" (That was news to me???) "Your delivery date is on our records as 13/6/05. we cant do Sunday 12th as its fully booked. Do you want it on 13th or dont you?"
Me "It's fully booked and I'm one who it's booked with. i'm looking at my confirmation now. I'm paying for someone to housesit on Sunday. I've had confirmation since last Wednesday. can I speak to a supervisor"
currys "No. A supervisor cant help you. If you dont answer now i'll not be able to book it for the 13th."
I repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor, a) to query my e-mail and b) to make a complaint about it. He repeatedly told me NO. I can only complain in writing.

this call went on for over 20 minutes. He would not let me speak to anyone else, and was about to refuse to book my 'verbally confimed' delivery as he had threatened several times. He gave me the complaints address.

I've since had problems with the guy who was going to accept the delivery on Sunday because he's busy on Monday and will have to rearrange his appointments to be there. Apparently when you order online and get 3 e-mail confimations including a delivery confirmation, it means nothing. Instead you have to wait for a verbal confirmation which you are not made aware of at time of booking. Since when does verbal supercede writen confirmation????

This on top of not getting my £50 discount initially, and I'll just have to wait and see about my cashback.

FATBOYONADIET. I'd be more than happy to join with you in a complaint against Currys. I'll PM you.
Anything I write is based on my opinion only. Before acting upon any advice from anyone on a forum further professional advice should be sought.

My order was very smooth (lucky me). Received all three emails dated the 30th, received the goods on the correct delivery date. Just have to wait for that cashback now.

This thread needed a good news story, its my turn this time (have to get lucky sometimes).

Update for you all (just incase you're interested :)), I didn't have the confirmation phone call today for my delivery tomorrow so I gave them a call, I got put through to my local delivery centre and they didn't have a delivery date on their systems. The operator was quite nice about the whole thing and spoke to their web team on my behalf. Turns out my TV isn't in stock despite the email and verbal confirmations last week. She didn't know anything about the egg offer so I asked to speak to them myself.

"Can I speak to them? At least I can then have a go at them!"
"Ok... But please don't have a go at them or they'll blame me for putting you through."
    "Ahh, I wont."

They explained that the offer still applied because they accepted the order, which is fair, but they couldn't give me any indication of a delivery date.

Not exactly sure where that leaves me. Seems like another case of one department not communicating with another which seems to afflict every company I come across these days. I'm not angry, yet.

TV eventually turned up on Sunday. 5% applied to statement, Egg say the remaining cashback will be applied, it just takes 6 weeks to go through.

    T&C's for this offer:

Currys Monday 30 May 2005 offer small print

    --snip---
[*]The cash back for this offer is 17.5% of which 5% will be paid to you as cash back in the usual way, which is detailed on your following month's statement. Once Currys have confirmed your transaction to us, the remaining 12.5% will be paid back as cash back to your account by 31 July 2005. Your cash back total is paid to you once a year in September. Please see your Egg Card Terms and Conditions for more information.

Apparently I have to say something to get this posted, but you see what I mean.

Anyone got their cashback yet, should have been credited on the 31st of July. I have not got it yet.
