I agree - we were looking at buying a fridge freezer, and each one we looked at gave us the same availability statement - they wouldn't confirm if it was in stock or not...

Entered the website from currys.co.uk (not using the link from egg and using IE so no previous cookies) and tried the same product and it confirmed that the item was in stock and i could specify what time slots on what day it could be delivered.

Tried going back thru egg and it started saying that due to high demand it was now unavailable.

Ended up ordering one from Argos in the end with free delivery so sod 'em!

How do you now when you order has been confirmed by them and that they have taken payment on your card?

I only recieved 2 out of the 3 order confirmations yesterday (both stating that the order was RECIEVED by them yesterday) and have not recieved the 3rd.

Did anyone get all 3 emails yesterday?

Will I be ok for the 17.5 discount? Or is there likely to be a problem?

If you've got the second you're fine. It's normally the second one that will cancel your order.

I have recieved my 1st of 3 expected confirmations. It states the time of order as 23.50, so I'm definately in time!

You need to place an order of £600 or more in order to get the £50 off voucher to work. If you used the Currys/Dixons employee or NHS discount codes they might ask for proof.

As for the e-mails, I've talked to Egg and Currys and they've both said that if your order is received and processed (i.e. not cancelled) by midnight 30th May you'll get the cashback in September. I made a note of all the people I spoke to so if I don't get the cashback I'm going to get very angry indeed!

They only take payment when the goods are due to be delivered. As long as the order has been confirmed you'll get the cashback.

This seems to have been a real con to be honest, they told me today that they get digi camera deliveries on a Friday yet the digital cam that I wanted to order was out of stock until today, they have now reduced the price by £25.00 but no free case which they have at £30.00 but you can buy online elsewhere for under £20.

Is the best deal now less 5% and 5% cashback from Egg with Currys if order under £300?

It seems they have a scam going to get people interested and when discounts etc don't work etc I bet they just think that people will just order anyway but I won't!

Egg deal was a joke but well done to those who actually managed to get it to work, I suppose on some deals that you would have got a great price but maybe the deals that are already discounted they did not want discounted further by the Egg thing!

I think 5 & 5% is the best at the mo for small orders. I did managed to order a PS2 and haven't had the the 2nd e-mail yet, if this goes through then I will be mad as they've cancelled one order but let another through!!!

In answer to RogerPJ, my girlfriend (same address as me) does work for the NHS anyway so that should not be a problem.
My initial order was for over £700 of goods, but it still didnt work. I then scrapped an oven I was going to get, as if I was unable to get the discount, I can get cheaper at a later date. I instead then opted for the nhs discount which worked out best.
I have so far only recieved 1 confirmation, although I have booked 3 possible dates for delivery, and it did ask for my postcode to check on local stock levels, and it still let me order without saying it was not in stock.
It is now gone midnight on 30th May, and I've had no cancellation notice, so I hope this means I'm OK.
I may be in touch with you again if something goes wrong.
Hope we can stick together.
