Just wanted to add my experience about this.
Got email from egg about the 17.5 cashback, went out over weekend and saw plasma TV in currys for £1499. was well please as i would get cashback on the purchase. ordered it at 12.10 am BH monday on curys website. put postcode in and they accepted payment and allowed me to select delivery dates. I though great. only to find out today egg apparently declined payments!!!!!! spoke to currys and they ssid its not there fault, egg say it was they security system that cancelled the tranasaction. spoke to egg today and they said they would still honour the 17.5 cashback if i made the purchase, which is great, but now the plasma TV is £1699 instead of £1499!!! £200 more. spoke to egg again and explained this, they said they are willing to still give the 17.5 cashback but not the difference in price. i spoke to some kind of call centre manager, who was useless. basically she said that she would get the customer complaints department to call me in........wait for it! 1-5 days! what use is that. just wrote a letter to egg, see what happens, but it dont all ring true! :mad:0 -
Like so many others on this board I didn't get the goods I ordered - in my case I phoned customer services to check on delivery schedule, only to find out that they had "run out of stock".
In my case, I had tried the 5% nhs discount on top of the egg link (Yes, I do work for the nhs).
I ain't going to moan but I will buy elsewhere this week - lost business for currys and egg as I won't be looking for more disappointment this week.
What was the point of all this egg/currys? Do you actually want to keep your customers?0 -
When I log on to the Currys website it just says 'Order received' so who knows if I've got the TV I ordered!
Currys are giving 5% cashback and Egg give the remaining 12.5% so I would guess that it would be Egg doing the cancelling, probably by refusing payment. I guess it depends on how much you use your card...? All in all a huge c@ck up and a BIG PR distaster for Egg and Currys, maybe a mass letter to Watchdog is called for?Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0 -

I think something needs to be done for sure, such a balls up and con.2p off is still 2p off!0 -
I got confirmation and delivery date emails yesterday, plus a phone call! Still a bit in the dark as to whether the cashback will be applied, but that should be an argument with egg rather than going back and forth between the two.
For all the others having problems... don't get so stressed about having not spent money
You saved the most out of all! 0 -

My item was in stock 5 minutes before 12 and out of stock 1 minute after 12
Why bother posting offers and they are not going to honour them?
I concur. The camera I was interested in (and all the others I clicked on) did this too, strangely all back in stock on Wednesday.
What a waste of time.0 -
My saga continues, and now I dont know whats going on at all.
I had recieved my 1st confirmation of the order soon after placing the order.
I then yesterday, at 14.30, recieved a call from some Currys person to advise me that the products I ordered were not in stock, however, they would soon get the stock and then confirm a delivery date. (nothing had said "out of stock", and i'd even set my 3 choices of delivery date when ordering)
I then advised her of Eggs offer only applying to products "in stock" and that I would lose my 17.5% discount. (Remember, the £50 discount code had already not worked for me). I said I would rather cancel the order than lose the 17.5% discount.
Lets just say a conversation about this took place, and I'm now gonna wait to see exactly what i'm charged and what cashback I get.
Anyway, I got home and saw 2 e-mails from curries. The 1st, timed at 15.23, was my confirmation of order and confirmed my delivery date (my 2nd choice). It confirmed the price with the 5% discount (discount didn't apply to delivery charge).
The next e-mail, timed a minute LATER confirming that they had just started to process my order, and that a 3rd (???) e-mail would be sent when the order was confirmed. This e-mail should obviously have been sent before the one mentioned above.
My confusion comes with the phone call saying it was out of stock, my subsequent conversation on the phone, then the e-mail just after which has confirmed a delivery date.
Are my items in stock or not?
Will they be delivered when they say??? (I've got someone to wait in for them especially all day, so it better had or I'm gonna get a right earful, and a big bill for his time).
will I get the discount???
I'll let you know when I find out.Anything I write is based on my opinion only. Before acting upon any advice from anyone on a forum further professional advice should be sought.0 -
Another story of a b*lls up, mainly on Currys part again.2p off is still 2p off!0

I've just got off the phone to egg.
Currys have taken the money, so all should be going ahead. I don't think they take the money if things are out of stock......but you never know.
Egg also told me payment is due by 8th July, so if you dont use your egg card much, make sure you remember to pay it off a week earlier to avoid late payment. You may not get a statement to remind you as most accounts are online.
I asked about the cashback, she said that it wouldn't appear on the e-statement for around 6 weeks after date of purchase, but that it would be credited to my account in September as the "cashback" (despite me not actually seeing "cash")Anything I write is based on my opinion only. WELL, AFTER THE ABOVE THAT I POSTED LAST NIGHT, I GOT A REPLY FROM EGG ABOUT MY COMPLAINT. HERE IT IS:-
Dear Mr Beadle
When a large transaction gets declined by us it is because the retailer hasnt gone through the correct authorisation process. They would have needed to contact their local VISA authority who would have been able to authorise the transaction.
As it apears this was not done by the company, as a result we have no choice but to decline the transaction, especially for ?1521.54 as this could be considered a fraudulent transaction. We had no way of telling.
As im aware has already been explained is not our fault. We were only acting as a responsible lender should do. I understand that you feel let down, however all of your details have been passed onto our complaints department who will be in touch as soon as possible. The complaints department will do everything they can to help.
In the meantime if you have any further questions please contact us.
