*** Board Guide Notice ***
Good evening everyone,
We, as Board Guides, have been watching the development of weight loss discussions and support on the daily thread for some time now and we are in full agreement over the following points:-- Starting and running a challenge or support scheme of any kind in the Daily Thread - this is the wrong place for them.
- Challenges, and so on, can of course be mentioned on the Daily Thread, but they should be located in a thread of their own on the appropriate board.
- We, as Board Guides, are asked to reduce the number of duplicate threads wherever possible and we consider that the two excellent threads mentioned earlier fill the needs of everybody who wants to lose weight. We will continue to encourage members to make use of those threads.
- Many regulars use, for example, their signatures to say how they are getting along on the Grocery Challenge and the Pin Money Challenge - but they use those threads to talk in more detail and to give and receive support and encouragement. We see no reason why those members wishing to lose weight cannot work the same way.
- If you are concerned about signature length, then perhaps not using a single line per item will help. For example:-
- Grocery Challenge - This week = £56, Total = £123, Target = £200, PMS = £11.23
- Weight loss - Last week = 2 lb, Total lost = 12 lb, Target = 23 lb
- We are not telling people to "go away". We are doing the job asked of us as Board Guides and that is to point members to the most appropriate board for their posts and where we believe they will receive the best advice.

Hi again
Just got back from Donny. Had a good nose round the market while DH was at the dentist, then he joined me and we shopped (that way he carried:o :rotfl:) Went to the "good" butchers which tell you where the meat being sold was bought from, and they do prize winning sausages, so stocked up, as we are in a bit of a dilema at the moment at what to give DH. He isn't keen on Lamb and Pork, and last year when we went to France he picked up a nasty Food Poisoning Bug, which is from chicken. He hadnt had any but the rest of us had:rolleyes: ! The result is that when he has chicken now, it goes straight through him not to put to finer point on it, so that is now out too. Turkey he can handle (strange) but prefers the roast (breast only of course) than grilled, which only leaves beef which we cannot go to steak every day, so the only thing left is sausage which he loves and I'm not that fond, but I wanted good ones, not some of the rubbish you can get, so stocked up with some, plus some nice shin beef, and stewing steak, plus their 100% beef burgers (must get a mould and make my own).
On the fruit/veg side, they were offering 8 peaches or 8 pears for £1, and 2 punnets of strawberries for £1.20 so couldn't resist all those, so can eat healthy (in between eating up the French cheese we brought home, and the tarte ou pomme).
Then DH treat us to a Toby Carvery (no dessert!) then we went to see my Dad (he has dementia and does not know us) while we were in France he fell over and broke his hip, had a call from my brother after they had operated and given him a new hip! He is coming round OK, eating OK anyway and can weight bear on it, but he came out of hospital with a bed sore on his back so the EMI nursing home he is in is having to keep him in bed turning him so that they can heal the sore on his back/bum. Medically DRI don't do bad, but TLC 0!
Please don't start another war folks, there are times when you post something which bothers you and nobody notices (and it hurts), and others when all do, I don't think it is intensional ever and yes we do make certain contacts, but I think we usually come to the fore when the chips are down.
Maybe Frogga's mail this morning was close to a slimming class motivator (I've been away for 3 weeks so don't know the background) than anything OS, come to that is my missive:eek: .
The answer to the Eek being at the start of the mail, if you swop from quick, the cursor goes to the start, and if you just click on what you wanted to add then it puts it at the start.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Well I've had a rotten rest of the day...
Began to feel a bit ill earlier (I've been trying to shake off a chesty cough) and had to leave work early with sore head and aching back. Coming down with something horrible I think. Kids in very bad form and very badly behaved. Haven't managed any housework so I know I've got the build up to look forward to tommorrow. I'm hoping OH will come home from work, take one look at me and pack me off to bed, discipline the children, cook tea, wash up, iron uniforms and make lunches. Goodness me....I just heard something flying over the house and I'm sure it said "OINK"!!
Sorry about your bad news Patentgirl
Keep Posting Catznine and Catowen!!!!
Sorry about the house Elona.
Take care all.

Sorry, but i agree with the 2 PPs.
Ive noticed in the last few weeks how this thread has changed from the daily OS chat about our days - the ups and downs of our lives into something a lot more clicky.
A lot of old 'regulars' no longer post, and i often find now on the days i do post, that i am almost completely ignored, and im sure im not the only one who feels this way.
The opening sticky, spells out what this thread is about - people mentioning how their weight loss is going is fine, chat about it afterwards should either be on a weight loss thread or by PM. My children going back to school last Thursday was a one day mention, mentioning other things my children/me/family/friends do tend to be just me mentioning whats going on in my day - not asking for hints/tips/support. If i wanted advice, i would be off to another board or thread.
Its the friendliness and support on this thread that has kept it going strong, thats why when the first mentions of the weight loss challenge was fine, but now it isnt OS, its weight loss, so shouldnt really be on an OS daily thread.
And before anyone comes down on me, thats my opinion and why i really dont post much now - was going to post about my news today but after the 'help and support' ive not had today (but then im not losing weight) i really cant be bothered.
Tierd mum - thank you tho, will PM you xxBulletproof0 -
Hi folks
Have been keeping the usual eye on you today from work. I do hope no-one stops posting. I love to hear how everyone contributing to this thread is doing, no matter how mundane. You always seem to be here for me if I need reassurance and I would like to think I am there for all of you.
Well, no word about Mum yet and I am holding off phoning hospital until just before visiting time at 7.00. My DS is phoning ward at 6.30 and if Mum OK she is going for a visit. Working on the addage that no news is good news.
DH very proud of himself - went to Co-op this afternoon and has bought 6 yellow stickered quiches (again) for only 39p each!!!!!!!!! The size he has bought does us a tea plus a lunch with salad for DH the following day. He is crowing about the fact he is more OS than me! Maybe I should get him to register and inflict himself on you all!!! All in the freezer and I can see us getting rather fed up with quiche over the next month!!!
Thank you all for all the support and mentions you have given me recently - very much appreciated. Will hopefully nip in a bit later to update you all re Mum.
Love and hugs to all

Ain't I being a good OS'er today.I also made some nice cards at crafting. It's one thing I can do without getting too tired as its a sitting down job.

Evening :hello:
I haven't been around much lately so haven't seen all the weight loss challenge posts, but let's all be friends ladies (and honorary ladies) - from what's been said on this thread today it doesn't sound that anybody is being intentionally negative, on either side of the discussion. I know what it's like to feel on the outside of a clique, and I also know what it's like to be in what's perceived as a clique when nobody ever intended it that way (you should see some of the abuse me and my friends get on the Proms message board, just for the sin of having all known each other for years!)
My loo decided to go on the blink this morning  The flush doesn't shut off properly and the cistern never really gets going to refill itself, so it's on a constant trickling flush. It's one of those modern push-button ones where the cistern is built into the wall, so I have just had the fun of getting to it by peeling off all the sealant (with the help of a sharp knife) and levering up the shelf above. If I fill it up with a bucket the valve shuts off, so it flushes properly and stops wasting water by trickling all the time (I'm on a water meter!) but I have to fill it up manually EVERY time I flush the loo. The access is really awkward so I've summoned the plumber who connected my WM and DW when I moved in here - he's really dinky so can get into awkward gapsAnyway he's coming round on Thursday morning so I should only be stuck with the problem until then.
It's solved a mystery, though! A few months back I was being disturbed by the intermittent sound of a water valve opening and closing, and couldn't work out where the hell it was coming from. It cured itself but it's definitely the same dodgy valve. It's my turn to have something go wrong with my flat - all my neighbours had snagging problems and I seemed to have got away with nothing
Had bad news from an actor friend too. He has been starring in a play which I and two friends are going to see on Thursday night (on cheap tickets acquired by actor friend). Last night during the show he tore one of his calf muscles, and he's been signed off by his doctor so the understudy will be on for the rest of the run
Am too tired to cook tonight but will do a spot of tidying and cleaning. Tomorrow I will start again with OS in earnest
Love Rzl xx :wave:Operation Get in Shape

Well , well , well, what a can of worms I've opened!
Sorry Penelope Penguin If you've been making hints and I haven't taken them ~ I'm obviously really thick!
Odds n sods did suggest right at the begining that we should move over to another thread and I obviously should have listened. I , along with alot of the others wanted to keep to discussing it on here as I thought everyone was so lovely and supportive , wether they were joining in or not, and it never occured to me that some people wouldn't like it. Sorry.
I have read and re-read other day's posts this evening and I must say that MOST of them are not about o/s ing. There are chats about depression, illness, kids, neighbours, cleaning the loo (!) et.c, non of which is specifically o/s.
Perhaps it's OK to talk about other things if you are one of Catowen's o/s regulars and not like me, a "newby" who has obviously upset people by hyjacking their thread.
I felt that our particular way of loosing weight was V o/s as we were "going it alone" rather than paying to join a club or gym.
The board guides have made it clear that there are enough other weight loss threads elsewhere and so it's not necessary to move the challenge so we wont be able to continue our little chat's anywhere else either.
There were 28 members of Frogga's Amazing Weight Loss Campaign (don't worry that's the last time I'll mention it) at the end, and all except two would rather have just had a quick mention of it on the daily. There were many who didn't need to join in but just wanted to hear how the rest of us were doing, obviously as that is what has upset some people , we had better call a hault to it now.
With all that said this will be my last post. I am not particullaly "in a good place" emotionally right now and although some of you no doubt will feel it "over the top" for me to leave over this sort of thing , my health and nerves can do without the upset. This is just the sort of reason I hate the school playground and avoid it at all costs in my "real" life so I certanly don't need this kind of thing in a "virtual" one! I feel like an idiot as I was happily posting away and loads of you were thinking " oh, shut up about it already!"Another thing in my life lately that has turned sour.
FBthree,Kyle,Amie,Annie,Gran(meanmarie!)Csarina, dlb ,odds et al , GOOD LUCK and keep going ~ you can do it xx
Finally thanks to all the support I've had on here, it's been fun but now I'm hopping off...........................Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

IMO, someone is only a newbie the first time they post. By the time you've made your second post, you're a regular
I'm not upset
And you can't leave, I won't let youBulletproof0 -
Frogga
I have pm'd you. Please do not go and do not take things personally. I have, for one, enjoyed reading your posts and hearing about you and the froglets.
Maybe today has been a bit heavy - we all make mistakes about where we should post stuff. I think we all guilty of misposting. By the way I am just about to post on the Arms Board so all of you come over there and join me!
Love and hugs.
