Preparedness - the continuation thread

Hi All,
Spotted this fairly new thread and thought I'd like to join - so here I am!
I've always recognised the value in prepping, though my financial situation can prevent me from doing as much as I would like - but I definitely aim to do more and feel you'll all be fantastic inspiration. I also have a bit of a space issue - I live in a small two bedroom terraced house with limited storage/cupboard space so need to be inventive. I also need a good declutter!
Anyhow, I'm caught up with the current thread, so nice to meet you all! :beer:0 -
welcome pawprintz.
It's really nice to see so many new people joining. Hope we can all help each otherIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

I have GOT to get back to doing this! I was doing so well and then my kitchen floor was torn up due to plumbing problems. I haven't been able to cook for weeks.
This one idea is such a money saver! This was the first step I used in cutting down my grocery bill.
Thanks for the [STRIKE]kick in the pants[/STRIKE] reminder!Overprepare, then go with the flow.

My eldest Dd and her husband travel quite a bit during the holidays(she is in a school) and my eldest DGS also spends a lot of time travelling and in hotels I get all the freebie sample bottles of shampoo, conditioner ,shower stuff etc brought back. I decant all the shampoos into one bottle all the conditioners into another and so on. Amazing how much stuff can accumulate .Shampoo is for washing my hair and I'm not bothered whats written on the bottle as long as it does the job and as my old Mum would say cheap is good but free is better

Love it!
I have some very expensive shampoo which I was given and I won't let DD2 get her greedy mitts on it. Now I know what to do when I eventually finish it. Though that won't be for some time, I'm far too stingy to use it every day. Cien for me!
I haven't used shampoo or conditioner on my hair for at least three years! Had what I thought was a frozen shoulder and couldn't get my arm up to put the shampoo in my hair so just stopped. I just dunk my head in water every few days and leave to dry. I hadn't used shampoo for at least a year before I told my hairdresser and she was shocked when I told her as it doesn't feel in the least bit dirty and is very soft and in good condition. Quite a money saverIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -
Please may I join too? I've been lurking for a while on the old thread and gave found it really useful.
I'm trying to build up a good store cupboard and emergency fund as I'm worried Mr Worn out is going to have his hours cut at work, nothing to do with the referendum result, they've been scaling back his budget at work for the past few months, to the point where he hasn't been able to buy anything for the past three weeks.0 -
Welcome, Worn Out Mum,
Lots of help from people on here
Worth having a look through some of the earlier lists at the top of the thread for loads of ideas. Not dim.....just living in soft focus

The Cien shampoo is pretty good, it even passes the fussy daughter test. They never finish a bottle of shampoo, partly because they seem to think their hair needs a change after using the same shampoo for a while. So I have lots of half finished bottles which I use up.
There's a theme emerging here, isn't there? Oh well, when they've got their own places and have no money they'll have to learn to be less wasteful.
And of course, things don't get wasted because I use them up. But the clutter, the clutter...!!This must be universal, I get good-natured grumps from my peers who have teen daughters and thus end up scavenging the dregs of about 3-4 shampoo bottles to wash their own hair.
Hi to all newbies, sorry to be so brief, have taken paracetamol for migraine aura but it hasn't worked yet and I cn barely see. Going to lie down in a darkened room.I
Currently enjoying watching the sparrows having a bath. Then the thought went through my mind, how many sparrows would you need for a decent pie filling?Well, it's four and twenty blackbirds for a pie. Say that each blackbird equals two sparrows, so would that be 48 per pie? Oh, the fiddling around that would involve......... :rotfl:

Cbrown it's interesting you say that, as I did an experiment last year where I only used water for two months. Although my hair looked ok, I found it smelt a bit like a wet dog when I got caught in the rain! It maybe because my hair is quite long? Anyway I went back to the (shampoo) bottle!0
