I watched Life Stripped Bare with a 25 year old family member so roughly the age group of the people in the programme so it was interesting to get her take on what they chose. She agreed with the onesie, keeps you warm and completely covered, no need for underwear and while perhaps not acceptable for work wear it was better than the guy going to work in a dressing gown!
I think she would have gone for her phone earlier than most of them did as her life is on her phone but then when the guy got his car back that put her in a dilemma, car/phone, difficult one.
I think the youngsters did really well and it was an insight in to what you might miss or not in the end. Re food, it wasn't clear what food they got but one girl got her purse as her daily item then headed to the pizza shop and came out with two boxesIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -
Just started watching Life Stripped Bare - this should be interesting viewing :rotfl:
EDIT: First scene was a bit unexpected. How can they get away with running down the street naked!? Surely that's illegal ...Long-Term Goal: £23'000 / £40'000 mortgage downpayment (2020)0 -
It's happened. MrD has received his redundancy notice.
Thanks to the previous thread and prepping, if not at ease, I am not panicking.
I have done my best to get twelve months of everything in place. The major jobs on this house have been done and the other one sold.
Prior to Brexit, we were pretty confident of MrD getting another job straight away, now I'm not so sure. Luckily, he is!:)
Hi, Lingua. WelcomeThe prep threads help on all levels. I'm sure you'll find them useful.
Currently enjoying watching the sparrows having a bath. Then the thought went through my mind, how many sparrows would you need for a decent pie filling?
Hopefully, things won't get that bad!!Not dim.....just living in soft focus

Oh Doveling, I am sorry! And I'm glad if prepping is giving you a bit of a breather to get things sorted.
I know things are very uncertain at the moment but not everything can possibly grind to a halt for all the politicians' indulgence in their favourite game of infighting. I do hope Mr D gets something soonIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Fingers crossed for you Doveling - ie that Mr D gets a suitable replacement job soon (or, being really optimistic, a better one:)).
Wishing you "positive vibes" on that.0 -
Thank you for your kind thoughts.
We have six months yet, so in a better position than many. End of December - but time goes so quickly.
He has been approached already but job offers are a little up in the air.
Hopefully, by the end of the year, things will have settled down more and companies will know if they can offer definite jobs
Redundancy is due to relocation. Can't say anything else as that would be an identifier (is that the right word?).
I worry. He doesn't

The Cien shampoo is pretty good, it even passes the fussy daughter test. They never finish a bottle of shampoo, partly because they seem to think their hair needs a change after using the same shampoo for a while. So I have lots of half finished bottles which I use up.
There's a theme emerging here, isn't there? Oh well, when they've got their own places and have no money they'll have to learn to be less wasteful.
And of course, things don't get wasted because I use them up. But the clutter, the clutter...!!
That reminded me of some years ago were staying with friends in Canada who had 3 teenage daughters. Heather (mum) was lamenting about the fact that they only used 75% of bottles of shampoo etc and she couldn't get them to do anything about it but it was such a waste
Afte we were there a few days I realised they were fascinated with my shampoos, shower gels etc because they were British (and they thought a bit more upmarket) so we decanted my stuff into old clean bottles and refilled my empties with the remains of all the girl's leftovers. We cleared about half a dozen shampoo bottles, 3 or 4 conditioners and some shower gels as well as a body moisturiser. We topped them up with some of mine just to make it more realistic.
I then offered them to the girls before we left saying I'd brought double everything and wondered if they would like them as I didn't want to carry them all the way home again. They were so thrilled.
I was highly amused when my friend emailed to say that not only had the girls used every last drop if the toiletries but they had fought over who got the last of each. Apparently they claimed the "British" shampoo to have beeen soooo superior to the Canadian stuff. Heather and I have laughed over this many times since and the girls are none the wiser.
Maybe a bit mean but it cut down on the waste - now all you need is a visiting relative from somewhere exotic!0 -
Love it!
I have some very expensive shampoo which I was given and I won't let DD2 get her greedy mitts on it. Now I know what to do when I eventually finish it. Though that won't be for some time, I'm far too stingy to use it every day. Cien for me!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
So very sorry to hear the news Doveling. At least you're well-prepared though! I hope he finds a new job quickly ((HUGS))
I forgot to say "Welcome!" to the new posters who've joined us on the new thread. Very nice to have you on board :j
ETA Just read your post scottishminnie - that's brilliant :rotfl:0 -

Well - if he's been "approached already" that sounds pretty positive to me:). I would interpret that as meaning "he's pretty good at his job - and other employers are recognising that fact":).
They wouldnt be "putting out the feelers" if they didnt think that...0
