    or is it Kale???
:D I'm sure it's k-a-l-e Mar objects to so strongly. Chard is just lettuce with attitude. No one can object to lettuce, surely?

I knew a girl at school called Lettice. She was quite objectionable :D

Are we doing political stuff on this thread or not because this article has made me cross.

If not, look away now :rotfl:

My view (FWIW) - We are doing prepping.

If that involves politics, then it's prepping.

If it involves buying sugar to make jam with summer fruits then it's prepping

I'm watching Life Stripped Bare on Ch4 at the moment where people are left with nothing, not even clothes on their back, its really quite funny. They get one item back a day and have to decide which item it is they want each day, interesting choices, glad I don't have to make them.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

:) I think I'd start with a bath sheet as my first item.

Rationale being that I could use it like a sarong (I'd feel a bit weird nekkid) and as a towel and even as a substitute blanket.

Are these people being fed? I'd then want a bowl and a spoon. Gosh, half a week gone and I'd still be barely decent and hardly own anything.

What would the rest of you choose as your first items, and why?

Managed to harvest a few more strawberries tonight but they are appearing in small amounts so are getting eaten rather than being enough to turn into jam or anything.
got a book by a fave author today but now I've started it I alsie I've read it before, I'll still with it as it was I recall an enjoyable read.
In prepping tomorrow I have an application form to fill in to start a college course. Not done any education for about 30 years do it should be interesting. It's something I really want to do so need to stop being lazy and putting it off.

GQ my first item I think would have to be my glasses followed by a dress of some description ideally baggy tshirt type coverall.
I was thinking I'd NEED my knickers but then my boobs would still be on show so I'd go with a dress of a cover modesty length then get the undies later.

    Hello!

I lurked a lot on the last thread. I have seen how unprepared for any emergency, my son being ill for a couple of days leaving us without basic things like loo roll!!

My mum sent us a Tesco delivery bless her. She's obviously much more of a prepper than I'd realised as there's loads of tinned stuff!!

    So.......

As a complete novice at being prepared for anything here is what I'm worried about:

What should I keep in stock regards food?

How much emergency money should you plan for? And bank or stuffed in the mattress?

    I'm ok for candles!!

I've a gas camping stove, how much gas should I keep and how \ where should I store the cans?

Brexit wise I'm worried about rising costs of food and necessary items, and some banker today said those with debt will be hit hardest, I dont understand this but its got me worrying anyway as I've a small amount of debt. (all zero % set to dd payments which will be paid off before the zero % time runs out)

And so many other things in the middle of the night......

But I'm guessing those are the places I should start.

    Cheel xx

A sheet, for cover up reasons and a bit of warmth/comfort at night, followed by my glasses on day 2. Blind as a bat.....

Cheel, I think Mark Carney was saying people need to think carefully about how much debt they can handle. What might be affordable now might be much harder to handle if times get tougher and household income shrinks.

It doesn't sound as if you have got anything to worry about, frankly. Your debts will be paid off in a very foreseeable time frame.

as regards shopping and stocking up, have a think about what was a problem - in your case loo roll. I worked out that we get through one loo roll per person per week. So a pack of four lasts us a week.

One pack on the go and three in the store cupboard is a minimum for me ie a month. That way if I forget to buy any we won't run so low it's a problem.

Beyond that, I look for sales. I aim to pay about 30p per roll. When I see a nice brand at that price I stock up about three packs and see if that's enough until there's another deal. if not, next time I buy six packs. After a while you get a feel for how often deals come round

I'm not aiming to wait out a zombie apocalypse. Just to make life easier and cheaper by having enough in store to have peace of mind

GQ- I'd like to say perfume but it would have to be my trainers :D otherwise I cannot walk:(

Mrs.M - strawberries straight from the garden are delish!

Hi, cheel, worries always magnify in the middle of the night don't they. Just get a little bit extra every week or when you can afford it, a couple of extra tins with each shop soon builds a decent store.:)
