Hi Tessie Bear, please do. What are you stocking up on?

We're off to France in a week and I shall be stocking up at Lidl on their Cotes du Rhone:rotfl: - half the price of the UK!

Lets just forget about the politics and just get on with sensible ideas for mutual aid, no matter what is going on in the media.

We are I hope a fairly reasonable bunch of people, and to get stressed about what a thread is called is a bit soppy isn't it

Sorry, really disagree. How can you forget about politics on a prepping thread!

No one is getting stressed about what the thread is called- just having some fun - or has fun been dehydrated out of people :D:rotfl:

Maryb - Thanks for putting up some of the original stuff . Much appreciated. :)

A new 'fred, just what we need in time for the sun thats finaly arrived, but don't blink you might miss it.

So is anyone else drowning in rhubarb? On the plus side it has sorted puddings out for a bit, lot's of crumbles done and in the freezer ready for me going over to shift work at the end of the month.

  • I have a decent sized veg plot in the garden but could really do with growing more. The problem is the rest of my garden is quite lovely and teeming with wildlife so I don't want to dig it up. The ideal solution would be an allotment but we have none here. What to do, what to do....

Absolutely agree with this. I knew well when I said I wasn't fussed on the title that it wouldn't be changed. I'm heavily outnumbered on here by the way I voted. It was just an observation that we don't all see it as a good thing. Quite the opposite in my case. With the instability in this country for the foreseeable future I think we all have more important things to worry about than the title of a thread on MSE. :D

Sorry you don't like the title Princess. I used it because we had talked about a new thread with that title and people seemed to think it was a good one - in an ironic way!

Canvassing opinions here - do people think we should change it and if so, suggestions please
A vote against the title from me sorry..
When a new thread is started simply because the old thread got too long, the new thread is usually the same name ie XXX Part 2.
Of course the old thread has acquired a bit of a pigs ear of a name, so I would have thought changing the name then keeping the name for the new thread and marking it Part 2 might have been better for continuity.
Personally I think 'prepping for a brave new world' might be seen as just dealing with post referendum issues. Nor do we know at this stage whether it will actually turn out to be a new world and brave has too many connotations. The old thread was about general preparedness - ie it could be a local water shortage, cash machines not working, civil unrest, food shortages, power cuts and personal disasters. As well as things like Brexit of course.
My own preference for a heading would therefore be something like Preparedness and Resilience or even Personal Preparedness and Resilience. Which encompass it all.

Thank you for the new thread maryb :T

I like Doveling's idea for a title too, Prepping for life's ups and downs.

I like that better than my own suggestion.
I do think the title is important as some people might miss out if they think Prepping for a Brave New World is just about prepping for a new society.
