    Morning all,
I want to do some batch cooking for the freezer (we have a generator for emergency back up!) and was wondering if there is a thread of meal ideas? If there is can someone point me to a link (I can't find it), or if there isn't can you give me some suggestions please?
I'm dead jealous of you with rhubarb, I love the stuff but my one never took off :(

    VJs mum - interesting.

I think my trainers could be classed as safety, as without being mobile I would be a sitting duck. Couldn't seek shelter, look for food, run away from danger (or hobble in my case :rotfl:) etc.

    Must watch it.
Not dim ;) .....just living in soft focus :p

The Cien shampoo is pretty good, it even passes the fussy daughter test. They never finish a bottle of shampoo, partly because they seem to think their hair needs a change after using the same shampoo for a while. So I have lots of half finished bottles which I use up.

There's a theme emerging here, isn't there? Oh well, when they've got their own places and have no money they'll have to learn to be less wasteful.

And of course, things don't get wasted because I use them up. But the clutter, the clutter...!!
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

If you search for "batch cooking" in thread titles in the advanced search it throws up loads of threads but this one seems to be the longest. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/242856
Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have. :)

Why do they do this?! Mine are exactly the same. I buy shampoo and conditioner in bulk and the kids just keep opening new ones before the old one is even half finished. Drives me mad. Luckily I don't have to share their bathroom but the shower tray is littered with half empty bottles until I read the riot act.

They never finish a bottle. When they were younger I used to buy the same shampoo all the time and they would still open a new bottle rather than give the old one a good shake to get the contents down to the end. Every now and then I would prise the caps off and decant them all into one bottle. Can't do that now they like variety

And they mess up my storecupboard going in there to find a new bottle. There are times when I have to remind myself the whole point of prepping is for their sakes!!

I'd probably do it and not tell them (decant into one bottle).

I use them all up too - and the ketchup, the milk, the opened packs of ham (etc.). i do read the riot act but it falls on deaf ears and, short of locking everything up, i'm not sure what else i can do.

Mind you, OH is the same...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Hi, everyone!

Been on the forums for a short while now but new to this thread - caught up a little on the previous thread and saw a new one was being started.

I'm just heading into my second year of uni, so I haven't got quite the range of options as many of you have (allotments, etc.) but my reason for prepping is more to do with the limits of a student's wallet than preparing for a true SHTF situation. Hopefully I can use your advice to help tide me through the next year with a limited spending budget!

MaryB, I'd do as VJ's Mum suggested, and just pour them all into one bottle - if they complain you can use that as a reason for them to stick to one in future!

About storing paracetamol or other OTC painkillers - check the dates as they may be ineffective after that. Please note I'm only saying "may", not "will" ;)

Do you know, I really don't think I like the "winking" emoticon. I think it looks a bit smug. Is it just me?
