..and I think I've just officially "run out of puff" for the day and decided one can have "too much of a good thing" (after eating my way through yet another small bowl of strawberries - waste not, want not and all that).
....and I've still got a large bowl sitting there looking at me.
I think I've about officially decided that any more strawberries from here on in this year are going off with me to my part-time voluntary job and going to get sold at bargain price and monies donated to the Cause. Well - its either that or they get left there and the woodlice get them :rotfl:.
Shame I cant waft a couple of bowls worth "over the airwaves" to you Doveling right now - to help with "cheering up".
Further on a garden-related front - I've not yet worked out how much space I'm going to be able to spare in my garden for herbs as such. As I cant find any comfrey growing wild anywhere here - I gave up looking and decided to start growing some myself. Anyways - some of that duly planted - as my first "medicinal herb" (which I could have done with a couple of times since moving...oh well...).
I think I should be able to squeeze in a couple more types of medicinal herb. So what would peoples Top 3 Medicinal Herbs be for putting in their garden? (Unfortunately - I've already discovered rosemary doesnt seem to do very well in this area - so thats out).0 -
If you've got plantar fascitis Doveling,
Nope. Held together with plates and pins. Old news. I'll live
Thanks for thought.
:rotfl: Brave yes! Wasn't sure whether to put my head above the parapet again :rotfl:
I had a very wicked thought about the top "medicinal" herb
Mint, obviously, to make tea to aid digestion:rotfl:
MITSTM- is there enough of a crop for jam? Or could you make fresh fruit lolliesNot dim.....just living in soft focus

Yep....check....got mint already:). I've got lemon balm too. So that's 3 so far - ie comfrey, mint and lemon balm. So I guess I can probably manage space for 6 different medicinal herbs in total in the garden.
I've made some strawberry chia jam already - but I dont cook things with sugar in basically and have "stashed away" a recipe or two somewhere for making strawberry jam of a more "keepable" sort but not sweetened with sugar. I suspect that might be a project for next year to look those recipes out and try them out. This year I'm still rather busy getting the garden properly "up and running" - and doing some further initial exploring of area. So on the list for 2017 - along with the fact I've still not got round to making my own cheeses yet......(other than doing yogurt cheese a couple of times basically).0 -
Yes, that is a good title.:)
jko - one of the lines next to the Chilcott report was something along the lines of
"we will need to be more careful next time"
inferring there will be a next time!
Not read anything else yet, other than Corbyn put on a good show. Not dim.....just living in soft focus

Poking my head round to have a look
My eldest officially finishes full time education in August so come 1st September there will be quite a significant difference in benefits / tax credits.
We have been preparing for this for a few months now and so the transition shouldn't be too difficult financially but interesting times are ahead in the next couple of months
Not sure if I remember this correctly, but I seem to recall my mother getting a benefit for me that finishes after you finish further education OR until you reach the age of 19, so perhaps you could continue to get it?Long-Term Goal: £23'000 / £40'000 mortgage downpayment (2020)0 -

No, she's 19 now and has finished college but officially leaves end of August when benefits for her stop altogether.
She already has a part time job and will be freelancing as well so we are prepared. Plus she has been saving half her wages over the last ten months as well
It will be the initial change in finances that will be interesting but once we know how much it drops by we can plan accordingly.

Hope the head improves GQ. Migraines are horrible. x
Ceridwen you should try feverfew and peppermint. If I were you I d also try some Lunaria Annua (Honesty):D It's a beautiful plant and has culinary uses.
Difficult day today. Had to be honest with our employees re the instability of the future. Not easy as I love our staff. Such a hard working bunch which includes several Eastern Europeans.
At least we have prepared for this which is more than can be said for our politicians. We have enough work for now and are diversifying to spread out expertise a bit. Should the worst come to the worst I will do everything in my power to make sure the staff are cared for and help them find new work.
On a personal family level we will be fine. There will always be enough work for OH and me. We are mortgage free and financially secure so no worries there. As always I count my blessings for the life I have and am sooo grateful for my loved ones and my good health.
I guess I'm not a Prepper in the "paracord and bug out bag" way but I do like to look ahead and plan ahead for every eventuality.
Nothing planned tonight. Have watered the veggies and fed the fish in the pond. Going to settle down for a movie with OH and a bottle of nice wine which was a present from a guest at a party we had a few weeks ago.
Trying to remember that as long as we've tried our best that really is all we can do.Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
